The Cambria Hotel New York - Chelsea is often lauded for its spacious, comfortable rooms equipped with modern amenities, though some guests have raised concerns over cleanliness and varying room sizes. Nestled in a prime central location, it offers guests the tranquility of quiet surroundings with the convenience of nearby subway access and attractions. The staff's friendliness and efficiency generally receive high marks, contributing to the hotel's welcoming atmosphere. While cleanliness is typically a strong point, occasional mentions of a limited cleaning schedule surface. Value assessments are mostly positive, reflecting the hotel's reasonable pricing for its offerings, including a rooftop terrace and fitness center, despite a few billing discrepancies.

I'll be honest I struggle to find a single issue with this hotel....

Accessibility to subway - excellent
Friendliness of Staff - excellent
Rooms (size and appearance - excellent
General Location - excellent

This hotel delivered in absolutely every area, if I was being super super critical the only things that let it down were a smell of weed outside the main entrance (but it's legal in NYC and can be smelt all over the city) and the towels were clean but you could smell the fact they'd been tumble dried so we're a strange smelly. Our room was cleaned everyday, Chelsea at the front desk always said hello and bye to our little girl, it's the details like that which make a difference in our opinion. We had family staying in the Hampton on 48th street and their room was almost half the size and more expensive. This hotel had easy subway access within 100 yard to go uptown or downtown.

We had 2 hotels booked prior to visiting and then I saw this one (HGU and Hayden) but I saw this one and the reviews were excellent so I went with it and was so happy I did. If you want a good priced , good sized and good location hotel get this one booked. Don't bother worrying about staying in times square, you'll spend a couple hours there across your stay, this place gives you great access to Dumbo, financial district, times square, Greenwich, central park and everything in-between.

Thank you for a fantastic stay, it was our little girls Christmas present and the hotel provided the perfect base for us to maximise our NYC stay

The location of this hotel was perfect for us! Within walking distance to a lot of the sites, also several subway stations close by for venturing further out.

We felt safe in this area and in this hotel.

It was clean and the staff was great! We arrived early due to our transportation timing and they were able to hold our luggage for us. That was so helpful!

The room was small as is to be expected in downtown NYC. However, the bathroom was a bit too small. The shower was nice but there was hardly room to turn around in the bathroom. And there was virtually no counter space.

We noticed there were not very many trash cans available in the lobby/elevator area which are needed.

The thing that would have made this hotel fantastic would have been if they would have provided any type of breakfast options. They did have rooftop dining in the evenings, but there was a restaurant type environment on the other side of the elevators that had tables and such, but it was just sitting empty. Even if there were no breakfast entrees available at least some fresh fruit and cereal and milk and juice and coffee would have been nice. We would have been willing to pay for such items it wouldn’t need to be complimentary. The items in their tiny market area were also not healthy choices. We ended up walking to Starbucks or Dunkin each morning. Also, not healthy. We noticed several families like ours staying at the hotel, I’m sure they would have appreciated some healthy breakfast options as well.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and our time in NYC!

This is a very delayed review but I was travelling for a long time and have had much to catch up on since my return home. My husband and I and one of my sons and his partner stayed at the Cambria Chelsea, NY in January 2024. We loved this hotel and it was a great price for a week's stay in New York. The beds were really comfortable, and our rooms were pretty spacious overall. The bathroom was a bit tight with the door and the toilet, but the shower was fabulous so it didn't matter. We stayed in winter and the heating was more than adequate; in fact we even got a little hot. The cleaning staff were efficient and the room was very clean, but you have to request room service in advance and it is only every 3 days. That was fine with us as every 3 days is plenty. However, if you need anything like tissues or toilet paper in between you only have to ring the front desk and it will be delivered quickly.
My husband and I had a room on the top floor and the lift was very quick to get us down. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to the subway, walking distance to lots of different takeaway places and a corner deli and pharmacy, lots of plant and garden shops. We never felt unsafe in this area of New York, even if it does look a little run down in places. That is just New York and you have to accept that. The hotel has a rooftop bar but it was closed for the winter. My friend who recommended the hotel and visited in summer said it was a great bar with a nice atmosphere and view. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone at the front desk was just so helpful, efficient and friendly. I can't speak highly enough of all the staff and they really made the stay. Thank you to Stefan, Angel, Kevin, Sherwin, Alexandria, Brian, Dabrielle and also Heaven (at the bar), and anyone else I have forgotten. You are all what makes this hotel and I look forward to staying there again in future.

we stayed in Cambria hotel in July 2023. the hotel is located on the west 28th street. this street has a number of other hotels also.
it is about 30 minute walk from times square (42nd street) and less than 10 minutes from Macys and other shops on 32nd street,
its a small hotel with tiny reception and lobby
we were early and had to wait for the room to be ready in the afternoon
the rooms are small but adequate.
the bathroom is the smallest that we had ever seen. there is a shower and barely enough room for one person at any given time.
there is no assistance for luggage to and fro from the room. the hotel will store the luggage before and after check out.
there are many tiny take away restaurants nearby (Andiamo pizza was liked by my children as well as McDonald's opposite on the corner of 28th and 6th avenue.
there is no room service or house keeping. trash can be collected if left outside the room daily.
noteworthy people among the staff were angel and alexandria.
the rooms have good insulation and there was hardly any noise from the surrounding.
unfortunately there is no view from the room.

Stay with few positives and many negatives.
Let’s start from the positive things, the hotel is located in a strategic point to visit Manhattan, with many attractions within walking distance in a few minutes and, anyway, many subway stations in the area to reach the most distant ones.

The bedroom is very large and basically comfortable (although for my taste the bed was too soft).

The TV broke after a couple of nights but was immediately repaired...well!

Let's move on to the aspects that we liked least.
First of all, the bathroom.... microscopic, with a tiny sink and a door that even made it difficult to access, looked like an airplane bathroom!

The room is cleaned after a minimum of three nights, but must still be confirmed the day before at reception. Unfortunately, in our case, it was never cleaned despite the request!

At the reception we were asked for a credit card without explaining the reason, after 1 hour we received a charge of $100 for the deposit, I understand the motivation but they could inform us.

In short, many aspects to improve, I do not know if we would go back.

What a find! Cannot say enough positive things about our recent stay. This hotel was recommended by a friend. We showed up without a reservation.. We were greeted at front desk by two friendly and accommodating staff members. No problem. They found us a perfectly cozy room on the 17th floor, quoted us a price and then applied a AAA discount.

The room was modern, clean, two beds, fridge. And nice modern bathroom. All good.

The location was superb for us. In Chelsea (flower district) on 28th and 7th… we were a one block walk to the subways, a 5 min walk to Penn Station (Amtrak), near Madison Square Garden, a quick subway to Union Square or Time Square, etc.

A quick shout-out to all the staff members who were so helpful, accommodating and made us feel so welcomed: thank you Chelsea, Sherwin, Genara, Brian, Jennifer and Angel.

This is now our favorite place to stay in Manhattan!

Great location, very central with the 1 at one end of the street making for a very easy commute around the city. The hotel is surrounded by flower shops and the aroma on the street while they are open is heavenly.

The staff at reception were always great, cheerful and accommodating. Having stayed in many different places across the city I would say they're some of the best I've encountered (Kevin who checked me in and Angel who checked me out especially).

The room itself was quite spacious by any standard and the bed was huge. There is a fridge, coffee machine and microwave included also. The bathroom was a little compact but towels, toilet paper and hot water were all in plentiful supply. This is great because your room is not serviced unless you requested it. My room was on the 17th floor and nice and quiet apart from the times other guests were coming or going.

This hotel also has a lovely rooftop terrace which was fantastic to take breakfast or a drink up to and enjoy the views downtown to toward the World Trade Centre. In the warmer months it's a bar so depending on the time of year it's probably less quiet.

I would happily stay here again in future. I felt that I really got fantastic value for the price I paid.

The Cambria Hotel - New York - Chelsea has become our go to hotel when we come into the city. We always receive great service from the entire staff.

Sherwin and Stephan took very good care of us from the front desk. It is also nice to receive texts from the them during our stay asking if we needed anything and how our stay was going. That’s a very nice touch.

The rooms are typical New York size, but they are appointed with everything one would need. There’s a very spacious hanging closet along with plenty of dresser space, mini fridge, microwave, and a sofa. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the blackout curtains keep the room completely dark at night.

The location is extremely convenient to most of the places that we like to visit. We usually walk around much of the city. This weekend we walked to Broadway to catch a couple plays as well as walked to Times Square to enjoy the lights and Christmas activities.

For the price, service and location we will always try to book Cambria Chelsea first anytime we come back.

This hotel is quite central to many things. I stayed for the one night in a King room with a city view. The view was nothing to write home about so just get a standard room and you can go to the rooftop bar for the view. The room was very clean, including the bathroom. There was shampoo, conditioner and body wash in large bottles in the shower and facial soap and body lotion on the sink. The sofa was big enough to accommodate two large suitcases for sorting through them. All was really good except that a couple of pillows had not had their covers changed. Smelling that while trying to get to sleep was off putting. Otherwise I would have given five stars.
