The Park Hyatt New York garners acclaim for its prime location near Central Park and its clean, luxurious rooms with modern amenities. While guests appreciate the attentive service and elegant atmosphere, some feel the hotel doesn't justify the steep prices, particularly criticizing the costly breakfasts and room upgrades. The hotel's amenities, including the indoor pool, are often highlighted as top-notch, yet noise levels from the surrounding city have been a noted drawback for many travelers.

Had a really good experience here. Great location, service, and room finish out. Staff was very friendly throughout. Rooms were very nice and offered more room than is typical in NY. Good option for families given the larger rooms and pool

Booking & Check In
Booked direct on hyatt.com at 30k points/night for King, given globalist upgrade to View King on the 20th floor. Check in was straightforward and simple, they recognized Globalist and explained the room upgrade and breakfast benefits. It was efficient & pleasant, though more transactional than other PHs. I pushed them slightly on getting a suite upgrade, and I was surprised to learn some of the more generic looking suites are classified as premium.

Hotel & location
As everyone here knows, it’s a very good hard product. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. I also like the location given you’re out of the Times Square chaos, while still being close to theaters, Central Park, and ample public transit.

Room
Like the rest of the hotel, the room is well designed. It has all the things you’d expect from a PH: a large bathroom with a soaking tub (with better views than other PHs), comfortable bed (though pillowtop was a bit sunken), thick walls (never heard a neighbor), light/blind controls next to the bed, etc. The only thing we missed was having chromecast to easily stream video.

Service
Our needs were pretty minimal, but service was generally solid. We got room service breakfast every morning, which was very good quality (not quite the PH Vienna level we had just come from, but very good nonetheless). Ordering was a bit annoying, more than once we didn’t get an answer and had to call back later--yet another example of why I still find it annoying that Hyatts don’t have digital ordering. We also used a wash & fold service nearby (even staying at a PH, I’ll walk a block to pay $15 for laundry instead of $200) which the hotel rapidly returned to our room after it was dropped off.

That said, I still find the general attitude transactional at the PH. It was fine for us, but it was definitely a different vibe than the European PHs we’d been to recently. The only service that was meh was the front door folks seeming rather distracted most of the time. When we arrived with our hands full of luggage, we were on our own with doors and elevators.

Conclusion
Like others have pointed out, the service delivery is not stellar here. Our room was great, but the hotel still seems stingy to me regarding suite upgrades. I would’ve been seriously disappointed if I paid the cash rate of ~$1k for our room, but for 30k points it felt like a solid value. Overall we did have a pleasant stay, and I would definitely consider it next time we're in town if we have Hyatt points to burn.

I booked this location with points, which made it an excellent value. The location is great with easy access to the park, Times Square, and subway lines. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, and the service was remarkable. All my requests were filled instantly, the housekeeping staff impressed me by tidying up anything I left out, thoughtfully filling the ice bucket for me, and setting out slippers at night. I appreciated the app asking whether I preferred morning or afternoon housekeeping service, and the staff leaving a tag on the door to note when service was in progress. The pool, spa, and steam room were extraordinary. I just had a few minor quibbles, I think the whole bathroom floor was supposed to be heated but only the toilet room was working, and the beverage chiller made no appreciable difference from room temperature despite engineering attempting a reset. The windows in my standard king room (lowest class available at this property) were rather small in comparison to the room size. Finally, the door latches of adjacent rooms make a loud mechanical CLACK when they close, so if you’re a light sleeper with active neighbors and your room layout puts the bed near the door, this might bother you. Otherwise, the room was incredibly quiet. If I’d paid the $1000/night asking price, I would’ve been a bit disappointed about the window size, but for the outstanding point redemption value, I didn’t mind.

We stayed at this property for our anniversary over NYE 2017 and it was magical! Service was fantastic, room was amazing; it became the hotel to which we compare all other hotels to.

Our stay in February 2020 was much less impressive. As Globalists, we were automatically assigned a premium non-suite room when there were plenty of standard suites available. I wonder: do the staff at the hotel think I am unaware of my Globalist benefits? Had to request a standard suite which is always awkward.

Our room was very unimpressive and lacked natural sunlight. There was a hole in the ceiling and the windows were dirty. There was no welcome note or amenity offered from the staff. We were quite disappointed and expected more from the property.

One thing we remember from our original stay in 2017 was how incredible the breakfast was, which was part of the reason we chose to come back. It was everything we imagined. We were very pleased to see that F&B has stayed at the same standard as set years ago.

I would encourage other Globalists to consider the Andaz 5th Avenue when making their decision to stay in NYC.

Stayed at the Park Hyatt during a quick weekend visit to New York to watch The Music Man with Hugh Jackman on Broadway.

The modern art and quality wood, steel, and glass finishes throughout the hotel definitely impart an upscale luxury vibe. Our room was larger than most standard NYC hotel rooms we’ve stayed before, but anything less would have been disappointing at its price point.

We stayed in a “1 King Bed with City View” which has tons of little amenities that set it apart from your standard mid-tier hotel including motorized drapes, heated bathroom floors, embedded TV in the bathroom mirror, mirror in the shower that defogs itself, both rainfall shower and detachable shower head that can be used simultaneously, iPad to arrange services, etc.

We were super excited to try in room dining for breakfast since we’ve seen so many reviews and YouTube videos with the fancy cart, but the novelty of having breakfast brought in on a fancy cart really wanes when hanger starts to kick in from the disappointingly small portions. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good, the steak was even better than the one we’d have at Morton’s later that night for dinner, but we were still hungry after cleaning off both our dishes.

We thought we’d try breakfast at the on site restaurant “The Living Room” the next morning in hopes the portions would be bigger, but we were even more disappointed. The steak and eggs available for in room dining were not available for breakfast in the restaurant and there was really nothing else on the menu that seemed substantive. The limit for the Globalist breakfast benefit is $42 per person, which is not coincidentally the exact price of the continental breakfast. The continental breakfast already looked like it wouldn’t be enough based on the description, so we went with pancakes, chocolate croissant, chia pudding, and avocado toast instead. The one slice of avocado toast is the smallest slice of avocado toast I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. Literally the size of half a slice of bread from the grocery store.

Furthermore, service was seriously lacking and we found ourselves mostly ignored. For example, the pool area had towels not picked up for hours after people had already left and almost no one would approach as at the restaurant and we had to flag someone down for everything, whether it was to order, get our water glasses refilled, or get the check. No one checked in on us once without having to be flagged down.

Overall we loved the hard product of the hotel itself but expected so much more in terms of customer service from a luxury property. We will most likely never return because of so many other choices in New York City.

This is a really nice property located directly across the street from Carnegie Hall. Rooms are well appointed and spacious for NYC. I wish I could say the same about the service. We were there for 4 days and other than the various doormen, no one actually took the time to make eye contact. The greetings were stale and forced from every team member we encountered. I was particularly annoyed by the concierge service; they have a separate area beyond the desk and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge their guests. My daughter had a massage scheduled for 9:00 am one morning. She goes up to the spa at 8:40 (as requested) in order to change and be ready for her appointment. The door is locked, no one is anywhere around to ask. She comes back to the room and I call to inquire. I was told somewhat curtly that they "open" at 9:00. When you are paying for a premium service, especially one that is charged by increments of time and you are asked to arrive "early" I do not think it is unreasonable to expect someone to be there when you arrive at the appointed time??? In addition to this, we ordered room service several times. The food is plentiful and service is friendly and right on time. We ordered a late lunch one afternoon and literally only took a few bites, thinking we would enjoy it later in the evening after returning from a show. We arrived back around midnight and the food cart had been taken with turn down service, even though I had left a note requesting it be left. Again, I called the concierge service and before I could even finish speaking, I was interrupted with the "it's policy spiel" and I could order from a limited menu if I wished to replace my food. I guess they thought I was requesting they replace the food free of charge (which I wasn't) but for the amount we spent for four days, it would have been a nice gesture. We ended up simply going to bed. There are far too many choices in the city for a property to treat guests this way. As I said, the property is lovely and well maintained. I simply felt "unwelcome" and will look elsewhere for lodging when in the city.

We are explorists and saved and used all our points to stay here for our anniversary & Valentine’s Day weekend. Our trip was amazing thanks to manager Justina who hooked us up with the most amazing suite ever! Our room was bigger than my first house! The bathroom was my favorite part with the toto auto-toilet/bidet/seat warmer for your bum, the separate tub & rainfall shower were perfect to relax in after walking the city all day. The family room, bar & views were absolutely stellar. We have never stayed in such a large & nice hotel room before. The Front desk staff & doorman was always so welcoming. My only complaint would be only being able to stay 2 nights. I was seriously depressed checking out as I didn’t want our stay at this Hyatt to end! This hotel is a 3 minute walk to Central Park and 10 min walk to broadway. Would love to come back one day! Thank you Hyatt staff for making our anniversary so special!

My family and I booked a suite and a connecting room for a night in December 2019. We have three little kids, and the setup of the room was very important to us; we contacted the hotel in advance of our stay to get information about the various options and selected a specific floorplan that made sense for us.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were given a room with a setup that was very different from what we had booked. We noted to the front desk that they had made a error in the room type, and their response was that the connecting rooms we had booked weren't available as the guest from the previous night still had not checked out (this was at 4pm, so after check-in time for our stay). The rooms were ~$5k in total, so obviously for this price we were expecting to get the room that we booked.

By the time the previous guest vacated the room and the room was cleaned, it was after 7pm, and we had waited around for more than 3 hours, with 3 children under the age of 5. Waiting for three hours with three little kids for the afternoon basically ruined the day we were spending in NYC.

The people at the front desk for the hotel were far from understanding and accommodating given the situation, and still insisted that we pay the vast majority of the bill despite them not delivering the room that we had booked anywhere near the agreed upon check-in time.

We have stayed at many high end hotels around the world, and I have never posted anything negative about any hotel, but this experience and the way the situation was handled by the hotel was truly disappointing. I would encourage anyone that is planning to stay here and is expecting a high level of service to reconsider.

I had high expectations for the Park Hyatt NY, considering it's the flagship for a fantastic brand. I found that it has many of the things to love about Park Hyatts, but doesn't stand out for the price.

First, the good: wonderful location, wonderful beds, and wonderful bathrooms. The shower room was one of the best I've experienced. One request for something for the room via the Hyatt app was promptly answered.

The area that could have been improved was check-in. My Hyatt status wasn't acknowledged, no one offered to take our bags, and the attendant seemed distracted. Not life or death items, but things you expect at a hotel that regularly charges over $1,000 a night.

I was told by the driver of the house car that the hotel reopened (after renovations) appox a year ago and it shows! I stayed in a suite and by NY standards it was larger than most one bedroom apartments in the city. The hotel's entrance is very unassuming. You may walk right by and not notice that its the Park Hyatt. Also, when you first come in you have to take elevators to reach the hotel's lobby. Everything in the suite had a button! LOL. The curtains, shades, lights, latrine all remotely controlled. When you open the door to the restroom, the lid of the latrine lifts automatically and the floors in the bathroom are def heated. The suite was so large it has two bathrooms (a full bath and a half bath). Staff was friendly and accommodating and the house car service was very convenient. The indoor pool was great. But the sauna and steam room was even better. Enjoy my stay.
