The Hilton Garden Inn New York/Central Park South-Midtown West is often celebrated for its prime location, providing guests with easy access to iconic attractions. However, some guests have reported disturbances due to noise from air conditioning, refrigerators, and street proximity. While the hotel exudes a blend of modern and classic New York charm, there are mixed reviews regarding room size and maintenance.
Service at the hotel can be hampered by slow elevators and some guests have encountered challenges with staff responsiveness. Despite general appreciation for the room cleanliness and comfortable beds, concerns about additional fees and the overall value of a stay are not uncommon.

Detailed Reviews
This is a confortable hotel in an excellent location in Manhattan, right in the middle of the city and well connected by subways. The rooms are relatively small but have all you need for a confortable stay, including a very nice coffee maker with complementary coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also, as other Garden Inn hotels it has some convenient elements such as a small store and onsite self-service laundery. The only thing I did not like was the restaurant, breakfast was very poor and quite expensive and the sitting room itself was quite dark and sad. I would not recommend using that. In general it is a very confortable hotel for a trip to NY.

Great customer service, we arrived during the early morning our room wasn’t ready but Skyy was able to accommodate us with priority service on the first available room so that we could rest. Amazing location in walking distance of everything uptown and midtown.

Nobody speaks French
On the first day, we take a deposit of $100 per day, which is not announced at the time of booking.
Had to run after a porter to take the luggage to the room
You wait a very long time to get one of the 3 elevators serving 34 floors.
The first evening we were given a room with a view of the wall opposite and without a view of the city, even though we had paid the full price for a view of the city: we had to ask 3 times to finally get a room compliant.
No tooth cups.
No head protection.
The hair dryer was broken
No coffee for the coffee machine
No free European television channels. We don't know Europe.
The first day the room was not cleaned: we don't tell you that you have to ask every day for cleaning.
You are required to join the Hilton Honors program to have free WiFi.... at limited speed. Otherwise you have to pay what you are not told when booking.
This hotel does not deserve 4 stars except for the city view and the location but barely 3 stars.
For this price, a 4-star French hotel offers you much more! The term Hilton is for brats.
So don't hesitate to raise your voice from the start, even if an employee told us: "you're right but they don't care". It did change some things though. Also write a complaint email to Hilton in the event of a problem. It makes things happen.
As for daily relationships, we are in a country of boors proud of themselves (except for a few people).

We traveled family in Dec/2024 and we occupy two bedrooms. We travel frequently to many places and this hotel leaves no doubt to be desired in some respects, mainly due to the lack of training of the local staff.
Cleaning - Poor, it was to take place cleaning in the room every two days and it did not happen, and when it occurred was that cleaning very superficial.
Room - Dirty and small.
Attention - At the reception is mediocre, some attendants seek to be cordial, others not so much, requires luck. The problem occurred at breakfast, the waiters are hostile, poorly polite and inflexible. One of our relatives forgot a ticket in the room (pasme, they use control ticket at breakfast in the 21st century) and the waiter did not let me wait for someone else to go pick up, even within breakfast time putting everyone else out of the restaurant, this caused general discomfort and unnecessary stress. The breakfast food is very bad for the price, few options the coffee looks like a tea and is controlled, you can consume only one cup.
Elevators - You will wait an eternity for them an eternity, are insufficient to the size of the hotel, always crowded and time-consuming.
Location - Reasonable, there are not many restaurant options, bars and shops nearby, I did not notice the unsafe place but still it is good care because the street is quite empty and there is nothing nice nearby.
By experience, I would never use it again.

Despite the hotel's prime location, close to Central Park and Broadway, my six-night stay at the Hilton Garden Central Park was deeply disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it.
The elevators were a major issue. Of the three lifts, all were operational only once during my stay. Frequent breakdowns and slow service led to significant delays and even a heated argument between guests and staff in the lobby. The staff member's behaviour was unprofessional, and the hotel's warning signs on the lifts about planning journeys during peak times are a poor substitute for reliable service.
Rooms are cleaned every other day, when checking this during check-in was told this policy is since Covid, not sure of the relevance! With no "Please Clean Room" sign available, and only a "Do Not Disturb" option, our room was consistently missed as we returned around 4 PM daily. Upon querying at checkout, I was told I should have called housekeeping to request cleaning, which felt like shifting responsibility.
Adding to the frustration, I was charged for overpriced bottled water I didn't consume. The hotel claimed the removal of the complimentary bottles indicated usage, a claim I dispute. This feels like a dishonest attempt to generate extra revenue.
Finally, despite multiple requests, I have yet to receive a copy of my final invoice.
With countless hotel options in New York City, I strongly regret choosing the Hilton Garden Central Park. The combination of unreliable elevators, inconsistent housekeeping, questionable billing practices, and poor customer service made for a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

Second time staying here, won't be staying again.
Had two rooms booked, both were accessible rooms which is fine except there is only a shower curtain to stop the water which does not reach the floor and the floor slopes towards the toilet / sink so the shower essentially floods the bathroom. Contacted reception regarding this as you couldn't shower, get dressed and then go back into the bathroom without getting wet feet / socks. Maintenance came up and said they would try resolve it (just need to put a squeegee in the room to remove the water to the drain) but they never came back and if I know anything from staying previously there is absolutely no point in going back to reception with an issue. The hotel hasn't improved at all except the TV is a little more modern now (that was an improvement as our TV last time didn't work) everything else is starting to look tatty and worn. lifts haven't improved at all since 2023, still extremely slow with staff using as service lifts. The toilet next to reception could also use some attention as it looked like it had never been cleaned.
My biggest gripe with this hotel in 2023 was that I was told no charge on either room only to land home to my husband being charged for a bottle of water that we didn't consume. This issue took a long time to rectify as we are not from America and visiting from the UK. Well you can imagine my delight upon arriving home to discover I have been billed for two bottles of water this time that weren't consumed. I have contacted the hotel to ask what I have been billed for and they informed me 2 bottles of water, I then explained we didn't consume the water and we had this issue last time only to be ignored. I have now been in a back and fourth with Hilton about this issue where they keep turning me back to the hotel who just ignore my emails. I have provided a copy of my credit card statement yet i've been asked to provide it again. I keep explaining I had two rooms and which room my credit card was tied to (1301) and which one my husbands was tied to (1501) but they are not listening to me and keep insisting it is a luggage charge and sending me an invoice over for room 1501. The luggage charge was on my husbands credit card and is billed correctly! Whilst it isn't a massive amount of money if this was to happen to every guest this would soon rack up and it is wrong. The hotel also wouldn't provide me with an invoice to state I had no charges when checking out as they apparently can't do this as they haven't billed anything, yet they have billed me. Also FYI water at Duane Reade is only $1.99 for 15 bottles, you would have to be crazy to drink the bottles at the hotel!

We stayed 3 days/2 nights and had a good experience. Great location! We picked this hotel because of proximity to our son’s apartment, and this is right by Times Square, quick walk to Central Park, right by a subway station.
Our room was comfortable. A little tight to walk between end of bed and desk, but plenty of storage space for luggage and room to move around otherwise. The bathroom was bigger than I expected - very spacious! When we arrived, we had some issue with the hot water for the shower (it took forever!), but that was the only time. But I would recommend giving the hot water a couple minutes to circulate before you need it. We had a coffee maker, fridge, AND a microwave in the room , which was great.
We didn’t run into the issues others have noted -desk staff was nice and helpful, there were 3 elevators but no huge delays. A little wait when crowds were high (check out/in peaks, but nothing unusual). There is a $100 deposit per day put on your card. You can use it for charges within the hotel, and what is not used is refunded after you check out. Just something to be aware of so you can plan for that and not be surprised. Tbe hotel was very accommodating and will store luggage if you arrive early and cannot get in your room, or need to check out but aren’t leaving the city yet.
I usually take the subway from the airport, as it is easy and cheap. The stop is only a block away ftom the hotel. Going back, the valet arranged a car for us to go to the airport our last day. It is cheaper before 2pm, price goes up significantly after that due to rush hour. They were very helpful getting that set up for use.
All in all, a very nice stay, good value, great location. Will keep this one in mind for future trips.

The Hilton Garden Inn New York (Central Park South - Midtown West) is a top-flight hotel at a reasonable off-season price in an ideal location. (Check it out if you you're tired of outrageous midtown Manhattan hotel prices.) The staff was very friendly and professional throughout. The rooms were clean and well maintained and were very quiet (a needed refuge in busy NYC). In fact we never heard anything from the adjacent rooms - nor from above or below us - in our entire 5 night stay. The gym had a variety of machines and equipment. (It is located downstairs so - unlike the rooms - it had no views of the city.)
We especially enjoyed being adjacent to the heart of the Broadway area (we went to three shows) without being in the crush of Times Square. And Central Park, Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center are all within an easy walking distance.
Note: the elevators can be slow during hotel "rush hours" (which I think are during check-in and check-out times) but were fine at all other times.
Special shout-out to Angelique and Jade for the warm welcome and personalized service. Just days before I became a Hilton Diamond member and each of them noted that achievement and made me feel very special throughout. Given the hustle/bustle of NYC, it was really comforting to know that I was being looked out for by both of them. Thank you!

Came here for our honeymoon. Before arriving we had agreed to an upgraded room, the room was not particularly great, visible dust on the counters, cold air coming from the terrace, and the pillows on the bed need refreshed. The rooms need updated badly.
The 5 night stay we had to shuffle past the cleaning trolleys as they were permanently parked outside our door.
Thankfully we were on the second floor and could take the stairs as the lifts seemed to constantly be full.
Breakfast was fine, a few options but did the job.
Staff were lovely and could not fault them.
Also we weren’t informed about the security deposit that would be taken upon check in which was another 500 dollars, thankfully we used our credit card!
Upon returning home we noticed we had been charged for the water that we never actually drank in the room. We left it and bought our own in the 7-11 nearby. $6 dollars for water we never even drank.
Overall the hotel is in a great location for exploring the city, the staff are nice, just other small things could be done to make the hotel a better experience

This hotel is close to Times Square, 5 minute walk, and close to Central Park, 10 minute walk. Staff very friendly. Our room was clean and quiet, and was supposed to be serviced every other day. We checked in on Monday evening, room serviced on Wednesday, but not on Friday. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to have it cleaned. We had to ask for the in shower hair conditioner to be refilled and the shower gel ran out as it hadn’t been filled either.
The main issues we found were that there are only 3 lifts for the hotel- which is large- and at times you had to wait to get one. Aldi there are 2 small bottles of water in the room when you arrive, however unless you are an elite Hilton member they cost $3 each. Also be aware that there is a $100 holding deposit per night so make sure you have enough funds to cover this.

We are delighted to know how happy you were with our superb location close to Times Square and Central Park, dedicated associates and peaceful accommodation! At that hour, it will not be an easy drive. Allow an absolute minimum of an hour, but check the traffic first.
Yes they reimburse at check out
If memory serves they were a 3 pin US but will take a 2 pin US plug and USBs
There were a couple in the lamp base in the room we were in when we stayed in October 2023.
