Archer New York has become our home-away-from home each year that we visit Manhattan. Located perfectly on West 38th between Fifth and Sixth, one has perfect access to everything: Broadway & Times Square, Herald Square, Rockefeller Centre, Bryant Park. The subway is only a couple blocks away. What makes Archer our preferred NY destination is the quality of service. Exceptionally friendly and helpful are all the staff. Scott, the Front Office Manager, could not be more gracious.

The king room was compact but very comfortable with loads of storage for the irresistible purchases one must make. Turn-down service always includes delectable sweets. On this most recent visit (late December), we were welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine on ice; such a classy touch.

Scott and team, thank you for always making our stay warm and inviting. See you again in 2020.

I was recommended this hotel and glad I took up the offer to stay here. It is located in the heart of midtown with a five minute walk from major transportation including trains and buses. More importantly you’re steps away from Bryant Park, Timesquare, Herald Square, Flatiron District, and Union square.

The hotel itself prides itself in being intimate and they pay attention to details. Upon arrival I had treats for myself and my four legged companion. I love the his and her slippers that they give as complimentary gifts. The room has extra charging devices, cable tv, and wifi. They also give you a listing of food places in the area as the restaurant is not currently open. There’s also a refrigerator and an espresso machine, but they do not have a microwave. They do give the option of having your food heated up downstairs by the front desk. While at the front desk feel free to ask for free ppe of masks and gloves to help with protection in this
“ new normal”.

My room was very lush and I would love to have the name of the bed because it was that comfortable. The room is on the small side with not a lot of real estate in regards to a footprint, but what they lack in space they make up for in their layout and furnishings. I love how it is decorated and they give extra storage under the bed for your luggage. Even the bathroom is nice and I liked the pull out mirror for makeup. I enjoyed the water pressure of the shower and the toiletries given by Malin + Goetz with the cilantro conditioner being a favorite.

All and all I’m happy that I decided to stay at this chic boutique hotel and enjoyed my brief stay here. I will be returning for my birthday and look forward to visiting in the near future.

This hotel surpassed expectations! The lobby staff was friendly and helpful at check in and each time we passed by (not to mention that they were impeccably dressed and beautiful to look at!). At check in they noticed that two women were checking in and they made sure to mention that there were complementary men’s and women’s slippers in the room and they would bring up a second pair of women’s (which they actually did- immediately, which is rare in any hotel).
In the room we were welcomed with complementary water bottles and caramels (very nice touch). The room was very comfortable, great beds, great shower, coffee machine, small fridge and a safe. Nice toiletries in bathroom, very pleasant. There was turndown service and we were left delicious cookies! Another unexpected touch.
The rooftop bar was great too! Perfect view of the Empire State Building.
I’m not a tourist, I live nearby in a suburb but I like come into the city and stay at boutique hotels every now and then and this one was top notch.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because there was no doorman to take care of our car when we arrived, we had to go into the hotel to find someone (which would have been a problem if I were alone). And when my car was brought back to the hotel the next day (I was told I should call for it 30-45 minutes prior to needing it), it came back much sooner and was left in front of the hotel with key inside- and no one collected my valet ticket or was around when I went outside for it. Lucky no one else got into it and drove off!!
But I loved the hotel and would go back in a heartbeat.

This was my first time traveling since the pandemic and it was a big disappointment. The most important thing to me was cleanliness and on this, the Archer completely failed. There were visible urine stains on the toilet, which were disgusting and completely creeped me out. If the cleaners missed those, then they obviously didn’t do a thorough or complete cleaning job, and that made me very nervous about the possible presence of Covid-19 both in the room and in the hotel more broadly.

In addition, there was no hot water in the first room I checked into due to a problem with the valve, and the second room only had lukewarm water. I had hot water on the second night after I complained again. That shouldn’t have happened.

Also, the neighborhood is not very good, and the restaurants the hotel recommended appeared to all be lower-class tourist traps. If this is your first time to NYC and you’ve visited to see Times Square and Broadway, then you might not mind and these places might be economical, practical choices, but given what wonderful food New York has, this was such a shame. The hotel may know that their clientele prefers these type of restaurants, but I definitely don’t. Fortunately, I knew where to go for better food, but it’s not to be found in the vicinity of the hotel.

And finally, I checked out in person so that I could communicate these points, but the person who checked me out didn’t bother to ask me about my stay. She just brusquely informed me that I’d receive my folio by email. Par for the course. It’s a shame, because my room was large, quiet, and nicely designed. But the hotel is a low-class establishment, and I won’t be back.

Thank you for your review and feedback. While we’re thrilled to hear that you appreciated the design in our rooms, we regret that the service you received was anything less than exceptional. We strive everyday to wow our guests, but regrettably, at times, we fall short. We will be sure to share this feedback with our team. I know they will take it to heart. We stayed here from the 28/12/19 to 2/2/20 and can honestly say this branded hotel is more like a 5*.
What’s provided:
Towels and flannels
Hand tissues
Toiletries
Coffee maker and coffee capsules
Tea bags and kettle on request
Hangers /iron/ironing board
Mini bar
Separate small fridge/ empty for milk / water ect ect
Hair dryer

The room:
is a bit cosy but for 2 people it was fine and the tv and channels was brilliant as it’s all English for a change with kids channels 👍👍👍👍👍👍and the rooms cleaned daily sometimes twice as a turndown service comes into play and done to a high standard also staff drop you boutique style biscuits in presentation bags which is a nice touch.

The staff:
Well I have never come across such decent, polite, professional, caring staff from the cleaners up to management from any of my travels and I’ve been around, also try room service it quick and professional and we ordered a couple burger from the restaurant downstairs for room service and it comes with fries which was truly delicious.
Thank you to all at the archer hotel for everything you have done for us in room 708 and me and the lucky lady ( the missus) have been truly spoilt and we will take your customer service to other places in the world and use you as our guide line for a bench mark.
I hope you show this message in the board room

Many thanks

This hotel is the best! Not only are the service staff members amazingly friendly and helpful, but the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Their afternoon turn-down service is a very nice touch. Check-in and Check-out were both a breeze. Great food in the lobby bar area for breakfast and the Spyglass rooftop bar has a fabulous view (inside and outside) of the Empire State Building. And to top it off, I unknowingly left a pair of slacks in my room. Housekeeping hunted me down via email, confirmed that they were mine and shipped my slacks to me free of charge. Now that's service!! I will be staying here from now on.

Really happy that we chose Archer Hotel for our stay on this visit. Unfortunately we had to curtail our stay due to the Coronavirus pandemic, leaving three days early, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. I fully expected to have to accept that we'd not be compensated, but without being prompted the staff advised us that they will refund the three nights, and that we must contact Expedia to receive a credit. I wasn't expecting it to be that easy. From the moment we arrived the staff made sure we were settled in, explaining all we needed to know about the hotel, its facilities, and the local area. The room was immaculate, and was serviced and cleaned every day. Everything about the room was quality, from the bed and bedding, to the bathroom facilities, to the decor. The room safe was so very useful for storing our precious belongings, not that we feared anything. Once the pandemic is over we will return to NYC and our first booking will be Archer Hotel as I don't believe we will find better. Thank you to all the fabulous staff, we look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.

The location is perfect. Exactly as described, just a few mins walk from Times Square and all the attractions. We had an excellent view of the Empire state building as well. But what made our stay ultimately so special were the finishing touches. It was our honeymoon and the first time in New York. They left a special treat for us and just these wonderful little notes. Throughout the room, there were high-quality items from the unique shampoos and mango conditioner to the down comforter beds. I think it was the most comfortable bed I ever slept in to be quite honest. We always felt welcome and checked on and the staff helped us with our itinerary and had excellent suggestions. Honestly, I have NEVER had better service from a hotel room. They were fairly young staff but fresh and down to earth. Approachable. They really made our trip comfortable in a time of uncertainty.

Thank you for everything <3

This is a well located hotel. It is close to Times Square (if that's your bag; it's not mine) so you can access the touristy stuff, but far away enough that it's not oppressive. It's close to Bryant Park, a short walk from Union Square, and doable to Soho if you like to stroll, which I do. Lots of great coffee shops located close by, and even though the hotel offers free visits to surrounding New York Sports Clubs, there is also a SoulCycle and a few yoga studios close by as well.
The staff are friendly and not fake. From the doormen to the front desk to the housekeeping, it seems that they are happy to host you. I handed out some customary tips, and people were super appreciative. Valet parking is simple and the cost is in line with other hotels in NYC. The rooms are small (like most hotels in NYC), but there is underbed storage which is nice if you want to unpack your stuff. The bathroom showers are big and super clean. Nice toiletries as well. Free water when you check in and out, and while I dislike plastic bottles, since NYC has not advanced to the level of many European cities with free water bottle filling stations, water bottles are a necessity. Oh, America. How much we waste. I digress.

Spend the extra money for the city view. My kid was entranced watching the Empire State Building light up at night.

All in all, a lovely experience at the Archer. We come to NYC few times a year, and I would like to come back to this hotel. It was comfortable, inviting and convenient. Thanks everyone. Especially Eddy at the door; what a lovely guy.
