Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, the Homewood Suites by Hilton offers a prime spot that many guests cherish for its proximity to attractions and transit options, although concerns about street activity have been raised. The hotel's cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere receive commendations, with modern and well-equipped rooms noted by travelers. However, the size and readiness of rooms may disappoint, particularly for larger parties.
While the service and amenities, including the appreciated in-room kitchenettes, generally meet guests' expectations, some have reported challenges with busy elevators and occasional service inconsistencies. Mixed views on value suggest satisfaction for some, but financial grievances for others.

Detailed Reviews
Summary:
We stayed at this hotel with our family of five (2 adults and 3 teenagers) during a weekend trip to NYC. The hotel was clean, conveniently located near major NYC attractions, and the rooms were more spacious than most suites at this price range in the city. The price point also provided good value for families staying in the heart of the city.
PROS
Rooms:
The rooms, though long and narrow, make excellent use of the space. Unlike many NYC hotels that only offer full-size beds in double rooms, this hotel provides queen-size beds, which was a pleasant surprise. Combined with a full-size pull-out sleeper sofa, our family of five was more comfortable than we anticipated. The small kitchenette area was another great addition, making it easier to manage meals and snacks.
Location:
The hotel’s location is ideal for sightseeing, with proximity to almost everything you'd want to see and do in the city. While you're not right in Times Square, you're just around the corner, which not only offers better value but also reduces the noise and congestion associated with the area.
Staff:
Despite the constant flow of guests arriving at all hours, the staff was always on point, communicating promptly and efficiently. We experienced a longer-than-expected wait to check into our room, but the staff kept us updated throughout and ensured our family had bottled water while we waited. This thoughtful gesture made the delay more bearable.
Parking:
Parking in NYC is notoriously expensive, and it’s often a hassle to retrieve your car. However, the garage the hotel uses is just a block away, making it easy and convenient to drop off and pick up your vehicle.
CONS
Breakfast Area:
As with most places in New York, space is at a premium, and the breakfast area was no exception. It was extremely compact, making it difficult to navigate and enjoy during peak breakfast hours. We only ate breakfast at the hotel one morning, and while it’s a nice amenity, we found that grabbing food and taking it back to the room was a better option, especially if you plan to eat breakfast there more than once.
Elevators:
The elevators were slow and small, with an average wait time of at least 5 minutes. There was often a line, and fitting more than one family in the elevator at a time was challenging. While taking the stairs is an option, it’s not ideal if you’re traveling with young children or elderly family members. If that’s the case, be prepared to wait.
Overall:
This hotel is a solid choice for families visiting NYC, offering a great balance of comfort, location, and value. With a few minor adjustments, it could be even better, but we would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to the city.

Hotel's Favourite
This is my fifth time in this hotel with my husband, very nice to be back there. The receptionists are very attentive. I thank everyone there for their attention, Ana Rosário, Giovanni, Miguel and also the friendly Idris.
The breakfast has gluten-free bread, I just asked the very polite attendants Angelica and Elizabeth bring it on my table. Many options of fruits and breads.
The room always clean.I also really like the kitchenette, it makes it a lot easier.
They take orders from Amazon.
I hope to be back soon. Thanks.

I highly recommend it, excellent quality/price ratio, large room well served with small kitchenette with breakfast necessities (tea bags, chamomile, coffee, sugar), crockery and pots and pans, fridge, dishwasher, microwave.
Truly complete with everything you need.
Very large and comfortable bed.
Completely soundproofed, I was on the sixth floor, no noise perceived.
Very kind staff.

Our room was a king size, efficiency studio; it was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. There was no blackout blind, despite the room being advertised as having one. Light from surrounding buildings shone through the transparent window covering all night. We spoke to reception after we noticed this just after checking in and asked if a move would be possible the following day. This never transpired, we asked three times and various excuses were given including non availability of rooms and having to check if housekeeping could provide a blind. We never got to speak to the same person on reception twice and eventually gave up asking. Bring an eye mask if staying here.
Breakfast is included and available from 0600 which is good for jet laggers (hot food from 0700), although annoyingly loud music is pumped into the dining room which perhaps is intended to move people along asap. Serving staff at breakfast were friendly including Jorge. It is curious no housekeeping was done before 4pm which is the time around which many people come back to their rooms after a long day and expect them to be made up. On some days our room was not cleaned at all and on others the tea bags etc were not replenished.
The hotel is very close to Penn station and all the buzz of Hell's kitchen on 9th. Not the hotel's fault that there are homeless people on the street outside, even so the area does not feel unsafe.

We booked this accommodation because we were looking for a hotel with a reasonable price-performance ratio and hoped to find it at the Homewood Suites.
Then we read negative reviews about room service and cleanliness and were unsure shortly before check-in.
This was not(!) confirmed.
The hotel is great! Everything is very easy to reach, both with luggage on arrival and departure, as well as for all shopping or excursions in and around New York.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. An early check-in was no problem. When we checked out, we were able to leave our suitcases safely in the hotel until late afternoon.
The room was big! A big bed, a pull-out couch. That's almost an apartment by New York standards ;-)
The room was cleaned every day. Fresh towels every day, etc. We were very happy with that, as we have sometimes experienced a completely different room service in Germany.
The breakfast was buffet style. Well - American. You have to know that before you book. Bagels, toast (also whole grain), but no bread or rolls like we were used to in Germany. There was also no cold cuts or cheese. Instead there were waffles with syrup, bagels, eggs (fried, scrambled or boiled), pancakes, sausages, fried potatoes, tacos. As spreads there were various jams, peanut butter, cream cheese, honey... But fruit with yogurt, muesli, oats was also available. We'd love to come back! :)

As an annual visitor to New York City, I’ve had my fair share of hotel experiences near Times Square, but none have captivated me quite like the Homewood Suites Midtown Manhattan. Nestled in an ideal location, it’s a stone's throw away from the bustling train station and the iconic Madison Square Garden, making it perfect for exploring the vibrant city.
Upon entering the hotel, I was immediately enveloped in a warm and welcoming ambiance. Every team member I interacted with radiated friendliness and professionalism, especially Gigi and Donnaven at the front desk. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made me feel right at home.
My room was nothing short of immaculate, thoughtfully designed to maximize the limited New York space. It had every amenity I could wish for and more! The bathroom was very spacious, providing a comfortable area to refresh. The kitchen came fully equipped with all the essentials for whipping up a meal, and the bed—oh, the bed!—felt like sleeping on a cloud, offering unparalleled comfort after a long day of sightseeing.
To top it all off, the hotel provided a delightful complimentary breakfast that changed daily, featuring an array of fresh and delicious options. The breakfast area was always pristine, thanks in part to the diligent staff. A special shoutout to Justin (who I believe spells it Justten); he was not only polite but also consistently checked in to ensure I had everything I needed.
The elevators were remarkably speedy; I hardly had to wait more than a minute, which is quite a rarity in NYC. Plus, the added security feature of needing to use my key card to access my floor gave me peace of mind.
Overall, my experience at the Homewood Suites Midtown Manhattan far exceeded my expectations. I’m already looking forward to my next stay! Thank you!

For 3.5 star rating, this hotel exceeded our expectations.
The location is excellent, and I don't agree with the online reviews of 'drug peddling on the streets' near the hotel. This is NY, it goes on everywhere, so accept it, and move on...
The complaints about the 'slow' elevators are nonsensical....it's peak season, so we have to accept there's going to be delays with the several hundred tourists moving in/out.
We chose a 2 Queen bed for 3 of us. The room was spacious but could do with some updating. The decor is old, dated, and makes the room dull and gloomy, and that's my main complaint. Also having the closet in the toilet/bathroom is a no-no....
Reinetta and Kaisee, at the front-office, exemplified what is sorely missing in the Service industry. They were warm, social, conversational and made us feel welcome on every return back to the hotel. We felt their 'absence' on their days off...
The hotel breakfast wasn't too shabby at all and provided good value-for-money. The evening spread of 'warm' soups and 'bites' was another welcome feature for the cold evenings.
I think the 'wait' staff in the dining room also need a special mention. They work tirelessly and with 'almost' a smile on their faces. Their jobs are not easy, but yet they persevere and just get on with the job of cleaning up after us 'tourists'!
Overall, this hotel is punching above its weight, and I would certainly look at returning!

Housekeeping is excellent! Felix was very polite and attentive to a specific request. The breakfast area is constantly being cleaned up and the food is hot and plentiful. Amazing work for the number of people (and children’s groups) staying here this week. Would definitely stay again

Stayed here for 7 days in August/September 2024, 2 adults and a 10 year old. The hotel was great value for money, we booked through BA and the resort fees were included.
Location wise, it’s about 10 mins walk to most things we wanted to do, including time square, which was great. The area was a little bit dodgy when it got darker, but we were usually back at the hotel by 8pm.
The kitchen was handy, the aircon was surprisingly good and the cleaning service was as expected.
There are plenty of lifts, but sometimes a pain waiting for them, we tended to use the stairs down and the lifts up.
Breakfast was busy, but good. The staff were quick to clear tables and keep things moving and there was always plenty of food. We enjoyed eating in the garden away from the hustle and bustle. 9.30 was lovely and quiet if you have time for a late breakfast!
Lynn was really helpful!

This review is about our second time we stayed at this location and we are very disappointed by our experience.
Through the Hilton app, we were able to check in and use the option to pick a room beforehand so I did. We arrived early and were able to drop off our luggage and go walk the neighborhood, we came back a few hours later and sat in the lobby to cool down, Lynn approached me with a sales pitch of an upsell offer 'unique and one time only', when I politely declined and told her we were waiting for our room, she got up and in a very snarky way said that 'very important people stay here and check out late' which was uncalled for. I went to the front desk to inquire about the status of the room, this lady said 'here's the key to your room and it's this one', I told her that we didn't pick that one in the first place and she pretty much gave me a look of take it or leave it. Housekeeping hasnt been up to par either, we had been here three days and our room hasn't been refreshed, they come in right before their shift is over and just change towels, no trash is picked up, the bed is not made.I had to gather the trash myself and leave it by the doorway to see if they would pick it up. I've used the Hilton app to to communicate with the staff and it's totally useless, no one ever got back with me, Charlene was messaging with me sending a courtesy chat to check up on us, so I messaged her that we needed a refresh and more blankets, all I got was a literal smiley emoji from someone named Kris so I sent a question mark back because that was a very unprofessional response. I go downstairs to speak to someone face to face and Charlene was the one that was available, I explained her the situation with Lynn and housekeeping, all I got was the most condescending treatment from someone on customer service. Her demeanor and smile were not appropriate for the situation, I never yelled, raised my voice or made a scene, she apologized but I can tell her apology wasn't sincere or that she even cared. I'm completely disappointed with this behavior, this wasn't our first visit to this property, so our expectations were higher for the money we invest every few years on special trips.

I didn't find it tiny, just enough to get two people by. It's a two burner stove, full sized fridge and a small dishwasher. We didn't use it though.
