Our stay at Le Meridien was absolutely fantastic. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a terrace room with a lovely view of 57th street. Then, we were given a great welcome basket of fresh fruit and premium still water bottles. (side note, they have free spring water bottles at the front desk, so take advantage of that-especially since water bottles come at a premium usually in hotels). To top off our great stay, they brought up two free beers. Don't forget about the traveler appreciation happy hour from 5-7 where they will have free glasses of wine and beer. I've seen a few comments about the furnishings, and while they are a little dated, they are classic mid-century pieces that are solid, clean pieces. They may have a little wear from over the years, but nothing was in disrepair. The bathroom was fully modern and upgraded, and the bed was new, comfortable, and fresh. Finally, Chris was very kind and checked in to ensure that we enjoyed our stay and was responsible for all the personal touches I've mentioned. My wife and I will definitely stay here again!

Times Square, subways, Carnegie, Russian Tea Room, Central Park... all easily accessible. I stayed here three nights for a getaway weekend.

Clean rooms, easy checkin. Finding food for posh nosh or penny pinching was not difficult to do. Access to Downtown or Brooklyn/Queens was via subways located on the same block. COVID-19 restrictions blocked many amenities, though the other attractions and outdoor eating nearby made up for it. Pay close attention to in-room WiFi options, you might inadvertently choose a paid option when a free one is avaialable.

I love the hotel, but what makes it a true wonderful experience is when your first interaction at the front desk sets the tone for the entire experience. Sonam remembered me from last stay months ago and made sure that I had the best available room and that all of my needs for the stay were taken care of including taking care of booking me an additional night the next day at the best available rate. Every employee that I came into contact with was terrific but Sonam was amazing and he is the reason that I will choose Le Meridien again when I come back in a few weeks.

Booked this hotel due to location and Le Meridien brand reputation. We were disappointed.

The pros are few: friendly staff and great location.

The cons were the hotel itself and the breakfast.

The hotel is outdated, dark, rundown, and needs renovation badly. See the photos. It is like someone’s den from the 70’s with old furniture and outdated lighting that is not bright at all and makes the room feel cave-like. There is ugly brown carpet and stained wood furniture (I attached just one photo of the stained/marked furniture, but took more than that). The desk is literally bolted to the floor. The light fixtures are awful and provide little light. The hallways are dark and dreary and look like a cheap hotel. I have stayed in hotels in lower categories and had much nicer rooms and decor. It is worth mentioning that the photos on the Marriott website, where I booked, made the rooms look light and bright. They are not.

We booked a 1 bedroom suite with Central Park view. Not sure what room Marriott took the central park view picture from, but we were on the 22nd floor and had the view in the photo attached. There are 27 floors and I don’t see how going up five floors higher or to the left or right gets the unobstructed view shown in Marriott’s photo on their website. (it was very foggy the day I took the photo, so not the best shot, but you can see that the view is buildings with Central Park visible beyond.)

We are Marriott members so had a special rate that included breakfast. I would not recommend spending extra for the breakfast. The cost of it is $35 per person and $15 for a child. It is a buffet, so chafing dishes of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sausage. Also cold cereals, bagels, bread to toast, fruit, and yogurt with granola. Juice and coffee included. Does it sound almost exactly like a free breakfast at a Residence Inn? It is almost the same in selection and quality, but $35 per person. Our rate to have breakfast included was $40 or $50 more versus a room rate without breakfast (can’t recall exactly), so we weren’t actually paying the $35 per person, but the breakfast was not worth the extra money. Really disappointing considering we could have gone to a restaurant and had much better breakfast for less than what we paid.

In sum, we would not stay here again and would t recommend to friends. Marriott really needs to spend some money here!

Le Meridien New York Central Park team members' hospitality during our stay was superb!
Our trip wasn't a regular vacation. My spouse had open heart surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital.
After a few google searches, we ran into this excellent hotel's website and decided to book a suite. It ended up being the best decision we made.
From the moment we arrived, we knew it was the right place to be. A smiling Rafael greeted us at the Valet. Mutabi bell staff (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly), with such grace, helped us to bring our luggage up to the room. Both (Rafael & Mutabi) happened to be the same team who helped us during our departure.
At the front desk, Melissa was cordial and pleasant and made us feel she cared.
She has the perfect attitude to be part of the front office team. The same about Vijay and Brian; they went above and beyond to make our stay very comfortable.
I saw at least four or five different housekeepers and housemen who cleaned our room. I remember one name, Jeff. They all did a fantastic job. They were very attentive and with an exceptional eye for detail.
I cannot forget about Will from Maintenance. The day my spouse was discharged from the hospital, the AC unit in the room stopped working, and the room temperature was 75°. Will came to the room immediately and worked on it; not only was he able to fix the unit, but he was constantly checking and ensuring that the AC was still working. Last but not least, your Director of Front Office, Yolanda Garcia. Once she learned that someone in our room was ill, she called to ensure we had everything needed to be comfortable. That human factor is so important today.
I could keep writing about our experience, but I don't want to write a book (it already looks like one).
I know how difficult it has been for hospitality during these terrible times. The General Manager should be very proud of the culture she/he has created with the team members. I can assure you that the next time we are in NYC, we will stay at this property and let our friends know that the Le Meriden NY Central Park hotel is the best place to stay while visiting NYC.

This is actually my first review ever but had to warn people not to stay at this hotel. I travel all the time and am a Marriott titanium elite member - not that this hotel cares. First off, thought I had booked Le Parker Méridien but it appears that in 2019 that it was bought by Hyatt and the le meridian moved next door into a hole in the wall building. There is basically no lobby, no lobby ba, no nothing. The staff isn’t rude but they are insanely clueless and inattentive. I booked a one bedroom suite. The size of the room is the only nice thing I can say about this place. You can hear people showering when you are in the nasty hallway. The windows are so sold that it was like sleeping outdoors it was so cold. They gave me two Rinky dinky towels for the entire suite. Had nothing to dry off with in the morning. Most annoying thing was when I took the time to go through the room service menu to order breakfast and called down to order, they told me that menu doesn’t exist anymore and I had a selection of a muffin or a muffin. They told me it was because the restaurant is beiMy renovated. So I went downstairs and the restaurant is fully open. I asked if I could get breakfast to go for my room and they said no, it was 35 dollar buffet. No thanks. Went across street to get breakfast sandwich at a deli. Normally the front desk always asks how your stay was when you check out but I can see why this front desk didn’t ask.

For a “four star” hotel with room rates in the mid-400s, this was surprisingly bad. Despite being recently renovated, my room was falling apart. The door stop was broken, the toilet paper holder was on the floor of the bathroom, and the tv was old with none of modern service options. The biggest issue by far was that the hotel would not provide a bedsheet, only a comforter and a fitted sheet. After sleeping under a sand paper comforter the first night, I spoke to the front desk and asked explicitly for an actual sheet to be added to the bed. When I got back to the room that evening, my comforter had been replaced, but there was still no sheet on the bed! Also, the refrigerator was empty and, I was told, is only stocked by request. This is neither the approach nor the response I would expect from a hotel claiming to be four stars. Despite the convenience to my office and the park, I will never stay here again.

Le Méridien New York, Central Park is located on West 57th street between 6th and 7th avenue. The location is great: you're close to all the Midtown action and one block away from Central Park.

While the rooms are a lot better than the typical cookie cutter hotels, they are still tiny. This also applies to the lobby and some of the other public spaces. While I'm mentioning this explicitly, it's wasn't a dealbreaker for me, because space is not a commodity in most parts of New York City.

I must admit the building and the rooms looked bigger on the pictures though. The lack of space doesn't make it feel like a full service hotel compared to other Le Méridien properties.

The room itself looked good. The bed had an nice wooden construction/casing that served as a headboard and that had closets built into it.

The bathroom was absolutely tiny, however the shower was very modern. The sink was placed outside of the bathroom in the bedroom itself and had the same style as the shower.

Water pressure in the shower wasn't great though.

I would return to Le Méridien New York, Central Park if I need to be in this location or if the price was lower than some of the competing properties in Midtown Manhattan.

On Friday night we had our first hotel stay since January, before the pandemic started. We stayed at the Le Meridien hotel on 57th street in Manhattan. We had a good experience.

Many Marriott hotels in New York have been closed during the pandemic. There are several logical reasons including the absence of tourists and business travelers. Fortunately the Le Meridien is open.

They have plenty of protocols in place. The confirming e-mail lets you know there are steps to follow if you came from a state with elevated Covoid-19 case numbers and are staying 24+ hours. The elevator is restricted to two passengers (or one family) at a time. Inside the elevator are two circles at diagonal corners where passengers stand. The rooftop area is closed. No coffee or minibar available in the room. Curiously there were no washcloths in the bathroom.

Combined with the masks, plexiglass barriers and masks, we felt very safe.

The staff is excellent. They are friendly and accommodating. They are genuinely glad guests are there.

The rooms have been remodeled during the pandemic. They are on the smaller side, but it's an older building in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The bathrooms have been remodeled and quite elegant.

Are there negatives? A few, but they are minor. The room next to us has a connecting door. The person in the next room must have been talking loudly on his phone, because it sounded like he was standing at the foot of our bed! I'm guessing this was because of the communicating door.

It was a good stay. We would come back.

This is in no way Le Meridien NYC of yore. This is a completely different building on a different street with the Le Meridien/Marriott name to justify $. It’s a filthy, old construction zone. Two elevators service 29 Floors. There is no shampoo, coffee or irons in the rooms; you have to “call down” for anything and everything. Towels are all ripped. This is brand suicide for Le Meridien and Marriott; no idea why’d they associate their name with this equivalent of a Jersey Turnpike motel. If this is anyone’s first stay at either of these brands, it’ll also likely be there last.

Yes, the fridge in my room was located in a cupboard above my bed. If you were facing the pillows, the fridge would be on your right hand side. The coffee maker was located directly below it.
