Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, Springhill Suites New York Midtown Manhattan/Fifth Avenue receives accolades for its cleanliness and strategic location, providing guests with the convenience of being close to major attractions. Although the rooms evoke mixed reactions regarding size and decor, the overall comfort and unique features, such as a light bridge, leave a lasting impression.
While some guests find the value for money and breakfast options lacking, the attentive and responsive service staff often compensates for these shortcomings, ensuring a pleasant stay for many.

Detailed Reviews
I absolutely loved this hotel for our stay. We could walk anywhere we wanted to go. The staff was so friendly. I called ahead to request something special for our recent engagement. While they do not offer anything, we were congratulated upon our arrival and also had an amazing view of the Empire State Building with a sweet card from the staff. It was Valentine's weekend so it was lovely to see the Empire State Building beating red Friday night.
The hotel is clean, the elevators are fast, and they offer free breakfast. I see people complain about the scarce seating but I like to gather my plates and drinks and take them to the room anyway. The only complaint I have is the musty carpet smell in the actual room. I didn't smell it in the hallways but it was strong upon entering the room.
The best part was that we could not hear a single thing. Nothing from the streets, nothing from the neighbors, nothing but a good night's sleep. The staff was also accommodating with recommendations especially to getting cheaper items from the CVS around the corner rather than paying their prices for waters/drinks.
I would definitely recommend staying here, and would love to stay again if I revisit NYC. Thank you SHS!

We landed in NY later than we had expected and checked in about 10 pm. Great king bed and excellent air flow in the room. We booked this hotel to have a fridge in the room and a coffee maker. This all worked out well. Location is good being between 5th and 5th Avenues. The hotel does not look like the online photos; this is likely because they had to strip so much of the amenities because of the pandemic. This hotel advertised free breakfast and I was disappointed they did not even offer a grab and go option. Absolutely nothing was available. I believe hotels such as this can put out one or two more facecloths and hand towels than the bare minimum: We were in NY during tremendous heat and humidity and wanted to wash up before bed as well as shower in the morning. The in-room safe was not big enough for my HP laptop which was a concern.

New York hotel rooms are a special bunch however this one was about as standard (in a good way) as NYC properties go.
First off, it is worth mentioning that the staff were wonderful. Accommodating, kind, friendly.. I enjoyed every interaction with them. The property itself is average and typical of Manhattan. It has a small, functional lobby (the doubles as a mildly crowded room for free breakfast), two elevators that never seemed to take very long (thank goodness), and smaller yet practical rooms.
I will note that my room with two beds seemed somewhat bigger than other hotels I've been in in the past. It was highly functional and comfortable with only the bathroom being a bit on the tiny side.
The free breakfast in the morning was welcome although busy and a bit minimal, it had everything we needed to start the day.
Overall a good spot, central to midtown which meant never far away from anything in the area. I would happily stay here again.

Hotel is situated just off of the Times Square and Broadway theatre district area. Easily walkable to those places. 37th street where the hotel is located is busy during the day but rather desolate at night. The street is a bit on the dirty side compared to many other NYC streets. Probably due to some vacant buildings on the block.
The hotel itself was clean. Room size for two is adequate. Breakfast room can get busy when hotel is filled and there is a sign giving you warning as to when to room would be busy. Sitting becomes an issue then. Nice touch on hotel management in providing this notification.
Like a lot of cities there are a number of taxes that increase your room rate. Upon my check out my folio listed four taxes, City Tax, Occupancy tax, Convention and Tourism tax and lastly something called jSales Tax Other Room Tax. The latter I questioned as to what this tax was meant for? The folks at the registration desk gave me an unconvincing answer stating is another New York tax. I doubted that and stated that I thought it was a Marriott add-on charge utilized so that the publish room rate looks lower than it actually is. I doubt if this tax goes anywhere but to the Marriott bottom line.

Location is good. Short walk to subway stations at Bryant Park and Penn. Times Square is close but not too close. A CVS pharmacy that carries some groceries is right around the corner at 5th Ave and 39th St. Staff was friendly and efficient. Housekeeping and room cleanliness was good. There are a decent number of drawers in one nightstand and the wardrobe. There is no freezer compartment in the mini fridge. There were a few negatives though. Our King room on the 18th floor (efficiently laid out but definitely tight to maneuver in) has a sloping window wall, and both window shades kept falling out of the tracks that held them to the window. Our room has the bathroom directly across from the end of the bed, and the sliding door has a frosted glass panel. If someone uses the bathroom at night, the bright light shines directly through the glass onto the face of the other person in the bed - a very bad design - they should replace it with a full wood paneled door. Lastly, we knew in advance but we were still disappointed that there was no breakfast available, not even a “(COVID) to go” continental breakfast; breakfast is a standard with Springhill Suites. When you are a busy tourist, you don’t have time every morning to find a restaurant and sit down to a leisurely breakfast. Also, many of the takeout breakfast places had long lines and no place to eat inside.

Can’t of think anything negative about my experience at this hotel. Exceptionally clean, comfortable, great location, very accommodating, attentive and responsive staff. NYC hotel rooms at this level (3 star) are small but they managed to fit everything needed into the space without crowding – refrigerator, microwave, full length mirror, safe, Iron/ironing board, etc. Breakfast was included in the price and was exceptional, not true “continental“ style, but more of a full breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage patties in addition to the other usual breakfast offerings. No disappointment here at all and I would stay there again.

Due to the pandemic this hotel cease to serve free breakfast temporarily. The room we had is quiet and far from the elevator. The room is simple, mid size for a couple and needs some updating. The drawers and closet are good enough a few days of stay. It features a small office table, a coffee maker, small fridge, two queen beds, and the room has enough space for a couple with a mid size luggage or two. The bathroom is clean but has only a shower. For the undiscriminating person or couple like us the hotel will simply work fine.

Let me start off by saying that the staff of the hotel was excellent. Everyone was friendly and very responsive. When you call the front desk, someone answers immediately. When you ask for more towels, someone brings them within 5 minutes. When you have a problem with the air conditioner, at 10 pm, they send someone within 5 minutes. Those are all positives.
I understand that it is New York City, but why they call themselves a suite hotel which is very misleading. The room was small, even by NYC standards and the decor was very tired and worn. The bed was comfortable, but for the rate we paid, $450/night, I expect more. We stayed at the Residence Inn Central Park the last time, and it was much nicer.

I stayed here in July on college visits and liked it so much I’ve now returned for a vacation. The hotel is extremely clean with friendly staff. Nice if basic breakfast. The location is perfect. The street is quieter than bring directly on a north-south avenue but it’s truly a 5-7 minute to most theaters. Times Square itself has mostly overpriced tourist restaurants but there are nicer restaurants close to this hotel. For a quick but delicious/fresh bite, there is a Paris Baguette location on the corner.

We did not experience that. Most US hotels will have your credit card on file so that any incedentals can be charged as they occur.
They was no breakfast amenity (not even “to go” bags) when we stayed (October 2021).
Thank you for your message!
There is no charge for packages we only ask that you send packages no more than 2 days prior to your reservation and make sure the name on the package matches the name on the reservation.

Washington DC, District of Columbia87 contributions20 helpful votesWhat security measures does this hotel have? Such as is their security to ensure guests only are boarding elevators? Do the front doors lock at night?
Thank you for your message!
Yes our security locks the doors at night; guests must use their keys to get into the hotel and the elevators are only for use of our guests.
