While the location is convenient for accessing public transportation and attractions, concerns have been raised about safety and external noise. The rooms are often described as small, and some guests have experienced issues with cleanliness and noise. This is a basic hotel, dressed in a creative & stylish layer of presentation. My kids loved it for its colourful and funky style and it served us well as a base from which to 'do' touristy things in NYC for four days. It is tight on space, so the rooms are small and basic with little storage space. There is a drawer under each bed, sufficient for a few days clothes and the suitcases can be stored under the bed too, but otherwise, don't expect extensive hanging space for your bridal gown or dinner suit. The bathroom in our room was 'cosy' and, as others have pointed out, the sink is small and positioned with a small, but important shelf directly above, so it's virtually useless for anything practical like washing your face or shaving. There is a frosted glass screen separating the shower from the bedroom area, so if you're roomies with anybody with whom you're not already intimate, you will be by the time you leave. Yes, it's located on a main road, so don't expect silent tranquility, but hey, it's New York - if you want peace and quiet, go to the country. Plus points: coffee and pastries at reception each morning was great, even if one or two of the staff sometimes served it with a surly attitude.

We eat in the adjoining restaurant twice and each time found the quality of the cuisine and service was universally of a very high standard - the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Eating in the courtyard seating area was very pleasant on a July evening and we enjoyed the latin theme and music as the backdrop to the whole stay.

The whole place was constantly being cleaned, the public toilet area in the basement was spotless (if a little tired) and, location-wise the walk to the subway station at 181st St a couple of blocks away was easy and convenient for direct access to downtown: 30 - 45 minutes, depending on your destination. We returned late a couple of nights and found that we were walking through a slightly run-down neighbourhood but with absolutely no sense of threat or menace - my teenage kids were perfectly happy to walk on ahead on those occasions and although there were locals around, waiting for buses etc. we only experienced people who either ignored us completely, or who were polite and courteous.

If I were to suggest improvements, it would have been nice to have the facility to make tea & coffee in the room (although I'm not sure where, as there's no space for the stuff required), a little more hanging space might be helpful and perhaps an ice machine on each floor, as NYC can be a sweaty place in summer.

It's not perfect, but I believe the management is committed to delivering a high quality service for the price - I would use the Radio Hotel again and trust that I would get a consistent, acceptable experience.

This hotel is in a nice Dominican neighborhood and is easy walking distance to local restaurants, parks, and Washington Heights. While the architecture is interesting and you'll definitely be able to pick out this hotel in the crowd, and the staff is generally friendly, other things were not acceptable.

We were given a room that had a broken window which did not close. Thinking we had just forgotten how noisy NYC was, we did not realize the situation until the second afternoon when we returned to the room after maid service was finished to find the window wide open. When we couldn't close it, we asked for maintenance to come fix it; but when this person arrived, he said "Oh, that window doesn't close. It's broken and we can't fix it. You'll just have to prop something up against it to keep it closed." Like what? A cinder block I didn't pack? Completely unacceptable.

The next morning, we asked to speak with the manager, who wasn't there the day before, only to be told they again weren't there and wouldn't be in until after we were scheduled to leave for our flight. There was no offer to comp us a night's rent which should have been the minimum since they refused to even try to fix the window. So for three nights, we cranked the heat up, put in ear plugs and were grateful for no rain and no small children.

We also needed new/more towels since there was only one full size bath towel, but we were told there weren't any to be had because the laundry/linen service had not shown up. We did get towels refreshed on the second evening of our 3 day stay.

The place is generally clean, but the glass shower stall was permanently etched with the private parts of a man assumably doing the nasty. The room is very contemporary and designed to the current tiny-house aesthetic, so there are concrete floors and little to no storage space - only pegs on the walls and a drawer under the bed. However, the beds were comfortable and we could not hear our neighbors even though the hotel was fully booked.

We had drinks the first night in the lobby bar which is so loud you cannot hear each other speak, including the waitress. Our total bill for 4 drinks was $85 - this may be typical NYC but it was staggering for 2 Ohioans. All told, we will not be back and we do not recommend this hotel unless you are very young, like to party, and don't care about safety.

This is the perfect place for those looking to stay 1-3 nights for business or a night out in the area. Rooms are clean and spacious (not sure why people are saying they’re cramped here), and the staff are helpful and warm. If booking with families, be mindful that the shower is slightly translucent, so people in your room while you’re showering will be able to see you (found out the hard way).

The only big issue we found that we felt might get better with some time (the hotel is still fairly new) was the lack of clarity and communication between different parts of the hotel and some consistency issues.

For example, on the website it says that parking is available, how much it is, who to call, etc. but when we arrived we were told parking was full and that it’s actually easier to book independently through another app. After driving for 12+ hours to arrive here - no parking in an area we’re unfamiliar with at 10pm isn’t really what you want to hear. Though we were able to figure it out later, and staff was helpful in making sure we were okay, we felt this could’ve been avoided with a bit more
clarity. The parking garage closest to the hotel also advertises a lower price for hotel guests but we weren’t once advised on how to get that / it doesn’t seem to matter.

Another slight miscommunication was how the included breakfast works. We were never briefed on needing tickets to prove that we paid for the included breakfast upon check-in, and thus has consecutive days where breakfast staff was confused on why we were there. Again, staff was very understanding and patient with us, but this was another small thing that could’ve been avoided.

In terms of breakfast, we were also a bit disappointed in the variety and quantity of food for all days except the last. Breakfast is serviced till 11AM, but it felt
as though anytime after 9AM hot breakfast items were minimal (most of the buffet items were 3/4 empty and going cold). However, on the last day, most items were fully stocked, hot, and we even got fresh croissants, which made us really wish this had been the case the whole time considering each meal costs about $23 a person.

The overall location and architecture is great here though, and again, we had a good time overall. I would just recommend keeping the above in mind if planning a visit.

This is a Hotel designed exclusively for younger people, and we had a very uncomfortable stay as older adults. Let me start with the pros: the staff we encountered, were uniformly, warm, welcoming, professional, and helpful. They are the great strength of this hotel. The bed was comfortable.
Now for the cons:
The bathroom has absolutely no shelf on which to put toiletries. The shower does not have a sliding door only a door that opens out, preventing you from reaching the towel bar as you exit the shower. The European size room does not have a chair only a high backless rather uncomfortable stool. The only storage drawer is under the bed, a really difficult place for an older person to reach. The safe, too is located in a drawer at floor level, so I had to kneel on the cold, concrete floor to key in the codes. That cold concrete floor is also slippery when wet and uncomfortable to walk on. There are no closets in the room only hooks. Not enough room to storage the beautiful dress I brought for a special occasion. Speaking of storage there is no place for luggage any larger than carry on size. The room is also missing the usual small amenities such as a scrap of paper and a pen. Motel 6 offers free coffee in the lobby, but at the Radio Hotel where I paid an outrageous rate, the coffee in the the lobby was $3.50, with no complimentary coffee or tea in the room. The shower gel in our room was empty and we were given only a single small bar of soap for sink and shower. The room’s window has a thin shade, where a heavier curtain might have helped muffle the street noise for my room which faced Amsterdam Ave, a very busy and noisy street.
This was the most uncomfortable hotel stay I have ever experienced. In the spirit of the old Yiddish curses, I only hope the designer is forced to stay here for several days with a full large piece of luggage. The cute curler chandelier does not make up for the design errors.

Dear EvieB, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at Radio Hotel. We greatly appreciate your kind words about our staff and their warm, professional, and helpful service. It is wonderful to know that you found the bed comfortable as well. We apologize for any discomfort you experienced during your stay, especially as older adults. We understand that certain aspects of the room design did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback regarding the lack of shelving in the bathroom, the design of the shower door, and the absence of a chair in the room. We also acknowledge your comments about the storage options, the location of the safe, and the limited space for larger luggage. Furthermore, we take note of your suggestions for additional amenities in the room, such as paper and a pen. We understand that the absence of complimentary coffee or tea in the room, as well as the cost of coffee in the lobby, may have been disappointing. Please accept our sincere apologies for the oversight regarding the empty shower gel and the limited supply of soap. We will make sure to address these issues with our housekeeping team to prevent such occurrences in the future. Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts with us. We value your feedback as it helps us better understand the areas in which we can improve. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with a more enjoyable experience. Warm regards, Radio Hotel

I've attached a screenshot of the email I ended up having to send at 4am our second night in this hotel. The follow up was a call from the front desk staff the following morning offering us breakfast from the same hotel buffet that had cold food sitting out. Mind you the only thing we could eat was a omelet, was charged over $40, no one even asked how the food was lol. I declined. They also told us that the guy in the next room had been there a while so they didn't want to move him. There was no resolve to our issue there.
This is what the locals consider a nice hotel, definitely not what we're used to; small rooms, I heard the suites are larger but those were booked up. No dressers or microwaves. There is one small drawer attached to the bottom of the bed. The windows only crack open a little. The bathroom door that doesn't fully close is right next to the head of the bed.
The WiFi in the rooms kept going out so the TV kept switching off, someone kept connecting to the speaker in our bedroom all times of the night so random music would just start playing.
The hotel had zero wash cloths, they told us laundry hadn't been delivered yet.
The daytime front staff was nice, the lady that works at night is a different story.
I loved the neighborhood so much, I would have to look for an Airbnb or something when we come back, I wouldn't come back to this hotel unless they offered to redo our stay and make things right. Writing this out doesn't compare to having to go through the experience on Valentine's Day
The neighborhood definitely made our experience better.
We loved Lola Lola restaurant and lounge and The Legacy Restaurant 💝

Basically, I haven't been able to go. Expedia listed this hotel as midtown, and I liked the price and look of the hotel. I booked for July, then realized my error relating to location. I immediately contacted the hotel, the same day, attempting to cancel but they directed me back to expedia. At that time I was told that cancelling it so soon would not be a problem but that I had to go back to expedia for the cancellation. Apparently, expedia should have asked them to wave the fee, and refunded me, at that time.

Expedia said they cancelled it, then sometime later I found out it was nonrefundable. Nonrefundable when I attempted a same day cancellation? I believe they are lumped with mid town accomodations and that they have this problem alot, which is why they are making it nonrefundable. Now, I'm out over 500 bucks and have no room. If I was a business owner I would not treat people, who cancel immediately, like this.

I really wanted to give a good review because arriving to the hotel, everything seemed so nice and aesthetically designed. My stay at Radio Hotel was horrible. I was woken up at 1:00 am to loud music from the room next to us, after calling front desk they advised me that security will come. One hour later, the music resumed and with jumping and banging. I called the front desk once again and they advised me that they had security come but will have them come again. Now 2:25 am, I am putting shoes on to go to the front desk to get security because the music resumed at 100% volume. Not only did I call, but had to wake my husband who is at home to call the front desk to help me get the music down to sleep. Nothing was handled and I had to put white noise in the background to sleep… 8:00 am and the music resumed. I asked the front desk for accommodation because my stay wasn’t the best—- the manager had offered free breakfast.. no I do not want free breakfast but to get away as fast and I can. Management seem to not prioritize the needs of their guest stay & I feel overwhelmed and unsatisfied.

Greetings, We deeply apologize you had a negative experience with us. We try our best to ensure our security teams make their rounds hourly to prevent these situations from happening. Unfortunately, we did not get to the loud music next door to yours, especially during overnight hours. We regret the complimentary breakfast was not enough to accommodate the inconvenience you experienced. We hope you can give us another chance in the near future to redeem ourselves. Thank you for understanding.

Very bad and sneaky they charge you the first time after that is so charging you on your hotel. Be careful. Make sure you look at it on your bank account. The night is different. It’s not the one you agree for.
The hotel not clean ,there is no extra space te put your item, the light is on the sensor. It’s so irritating. You have to put it on all the time., very, very, very many mini small fridge. You can barely put your drinks or anything you buy from the store you ask for water you pay money you ask for ice you pay money I do not recommend this hotel. Please look somewhere else.
They said there is free breakfast. There is no free breakfast. It’s just a lie.
Do me a favor and look at your bank account when you check in, but because you charge your extra on it, I do not recommend anything
Very, very bad customer service
I’ve been too many Hotel very expensive one but this one is so dirty when you walk you feel stuff on your feet. The bathroom is so dirty.

Greetings, Thank you for choosing Radio Hotel. We apologize you did not enjoy your stay. We do take a first night deposit to guarantee your reservation, which is refundable 48 prior to your arrival date if you cancel. Our tap water and ice is complimentary. Our food and beverage have a separate cost. Unfortunately, we've never advertised free breakfast on any booking channel. We apologize for the miscommunication. Like majority of hotels in New York City, there is an additional security deposit that is authorized at check in for incidentals. This is returned at check out if there are no damages or incidentals accrued on your bill. We will forward your concerns to our housekeeping management team to further improve the necessary. Thank you for sharing you feedback. Kind Regards.

This hotel is beautiful, we loved the design - the rooms were clean and contemporary. The outdoor area is beautiful. For NYC, the room was not small. Unfortunately we were traveling for work and the experience was stressful and difficult and I would not recommend this hotel if you are working or on a schedule. It was not a $500 a night experience.

We were there Friday and Saturday nights and there was a lot of noise from the lobby and the restaurant, we'd raised this as a concern when we checked in and were told on the 2nd floor "on the other side" we would not hear the noise. We did.

We were given wrong information for both AM coffee and the restaurant opening times. One front desk person told us we could only order online at the restaurant, I finally went downstairs and found a sit down buffet in the back. We were in town for work and there is no microwave or coffee maker in the rooms. This caused stress, a very high Starbucks delivery bill and we were late to our conference. Sunday morning the "24 hour a day" coffee was not available. One of the hotel managers tried to blame the restaurant for the misinformation but as a hotel guest, isn't the job of the front desk to streamline the experience.

Location was reason for my selecting this hotel as my daughter lives nearby and was graduating. Overall lots of small issues that led to a negative experience. 1) calling or asking front desk issues resulted in no action 75% of the time. Body wash was empty and despite leaving the empty container in the floor of the shower it was ignored by housekeeping. Extra towels never came. Extra blanket requested at check in didn’t come until I asked again. 2) gym had three cardio pieces one of which didn’t work. Only room for one person to workout on the floor with only one mat available. Twice I had to request wipe to clean equipment. Both days…no wipes or towels available in the am when multiple people worked out and couldn’t clean equipment. No water available in the room either. 3) no coffee makers in room nor ice machines. No decaf ..even for purchase…in hotel. 4) sink is positioned oddly whereby you cannot really use it without getting most of the water on the floor. It isn’t large enough to fully use and is just not designed well.

breakfast selection from the hotel restaurant was limited but amazingly delicious. Only choice for non-meat was a tortilla wrap with egg white avocado and spinach and it is was soooo delicious (but requires time to sit in courtyard for its preparation). Coffee and breakfast teas prepared upon request at the hotel desk are excellent, including an herbal tea before bed. You could also request a cup of boiling water to take up for your netti pot use.
