Detailed Reviews
Late posting, stay was June 2018
Hotel is quite easy to locate and somewhat sandwiched between other chain hotels. The hotel is very close to nearest subway stop and perhaps around 10-15mins to the most photographed part of Times Square for tourists. Just that if you were to take a shared transport/minivan from JFK, it will most likely alight you on 8th Avenue and you’ll take a short walk to the hotel (I believe reason being it’s a shared vehicle).
Room is very spacious for one, and even okay for two as well. Bedding was very comfortable and the bath amenities are well stocked. This hotel is ideal for extended stay as one can do heir own cooking, and there’s a large refrigerator to stock up on supplies.
This hotel is known to have a singer bell staff on guitar but I didn’t see any performance during my stay. Breakfast is complimentary and served on the lobby leveL, just behind the front desk. Do go very early, or just before closing as the restaurant have very limited seatings. Breakfast is quite good with good varieties, it’s complimentary and it’s value for money.
I would return to stay at this hotel again if future travels bring me to NYC.

Thus is the second time we have stayed at this hotel so we already know the plus points. Breakfast in NYC included is a very rare thing and there is an abundance of food & drink options, hot & cold. There are 2 places to eat one on the ground floor which can get very busy and another floor below, much more comfortable seating and not as busy. You can get scrambled egg, fried egg, sausage and bacon on intermittent days, toast, coffee/juice, cheese, bagels. This will save you a lot of money and is a good start to the day. Also on Monday to Wednesday between 5-7pm there is a drinks event beer tap/ wine (help ur self) with themed food nights. This is a nice touch and as drink prices are very expensive in NYC very welcoming.
I had read about people having issues with the three lifts being slow, i was there for 7 nights and had no problems. I was on 25th floor so was reliant on the lifts but there was people using them that were on floors 2-4th, come on really.
Room good size big fridge, microwave, safe, good sized tv. Bathroom again good size, shower plenty hot water, no problems. Rooms cleaned every day to a high standard and was happy to leave a few dollars a day for the maid.
Area- behind Port Authority station, not the best although never experienced any problems. As with a big transport hub a lot of transient people will be in and around that area , a few seemed to be down on their luck. Turn left you come to 8th Avenue, turn right across road Dalton bar then further up Mercury Bar, good pubs to visit.
The hotel will keep your cases on your departure day for free until time to leave.
All in all this is a very good hotel, staff are very hospitable and many 5 star hotels would learn something from the way this hotel is run.

A good hotel in a good location. Port Authority bus station just about opposite of the hotel so easy for trains and subway. Times Square a easy 5 minute walk.
Buffet breakfast was adequate with a fair choice of cooked foods, cheese, cereals etc. A few nights a week they have a help yourself to free beer and wine and food. The food generally cooked to a good standard.
Our room was fairly basic but had a small kitchenette with microwave, oven and kettle so served the purpose. Bathroom was quite spacious with a good shower. Did find housekeeping hit and miss.
Staff all very friendly and helpful and individual.
All in a good stay and would happily stay again.

I took 2 of my nieces and my daughter for a few days after New Years and had reserved 2 rooms. My 2 nieces arrived the day after I did. The hotel was clean as were our rooms. The elevator was a HUGE problem. The wait for a elevator was ridiculous taking at the minimum 10-20 minutes. We ended up walking the stairs quite a bit but it was difficult to accomplish this with luggage on the day we checked out. The breakfast was ok. There were 2 breakfast areas. One on the main floor and one in the basement which was odd. One evening we had picked up a pizza from a pizza place just a little way down from the hotel. We decided to eat it all together in the breakfast/bar area because other than sitting on the bed there wasn’t enough room for all of us to eat and there were tables to sit at. The bar wasn’t open the entire time we were there (and having a glass of wine after a long day of sightseeing would have been nice). We had paper plates, napkins and bottles of water the pizza place provided us. We were all sitting quietly eating (in a empty bar room) and a hotel employee got quite rude telling us we were not allowed to eat in there. I told him we would clean up after ourselves and we were almost finished and he told us to hurry up and left us to finish. The other problem I had was that I paid for both rooms. My daughter and I ended up in a very small room while my niece’s was nearly twice the size of mine. She felt quite bad about it and offered to change rooms but we had already unpacked. I’m not sure if we would stay here again. The location was good but the elevator and the size of my room was a issue as well as the rude employee.

Hello TravelingWeWillGo, We appreciate your taking the time to provide us your feedback and choosing our property to host your stay in New York. Here at the Staybridge Suites, we want all our guests to enjoy the best of home and hotel. Unfortunately, in your case, we were not able to deliver. I apologize for the service provided at the bar, the elevator not working and you found the room to be small for your convenience. Your observations have not fallen on deaf ears. Rest assured, Hotel management has taken notice of the observations you made during your stay and are determined to ensure that this does not occur again. Our Front desk teams and housekeeping teams have been provided a copy of your concerns. On the other hand, it's nice to know that you found the property to be convenient and accessible. As we continue to build a home-like environment with a special sense of community, your comments come highly valuable. I hope you will give us another chance to show you that your unsatisfactory stay was an exception. We hope to host you stay soon, should you consider us your hotel of choice once you visit the area. I hate to write poor reviews, but this one is needed. Very bad experience with this hotel.
We were informed on checkin that breakfast will Not be offered, and no concessions were made. The website clearly advertises contact free continental breakfast due to COVID19. But no food is offered on site at all.
The cleanliness of both rooms was bad - something very gross on the bed skirt, broken and missing toilet paper holder, kitchen faucet sprayed water all over, dirty finger prints on the ceiling, blinds were broke and falling, no wash cloth’s in either room.
This was presented to the staff and they apologized but did not offer a solution. We left a day early and got a different hotel.
Not our typical Staybridge Suites experience...

Hi windemuller, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We want you to experience comfort in every sense and what transpired isn't what we promised. I'm sorry to hear about the untidy condition of the room and the bathroom. I recognized your sentiments about the lack of breakfast offered during your stay and the quality of service taken in addressing these issues let you down. This isn't the experience you've come to expect from us. I brought this up to our local management's attention. Rest assured that all you've highlighted will be worked on to ensure guests' complete satisfaction. I also sent you a private message discussing this further. We value the trust you've given us. We hope you'll come to visit us again and we'll do our best to make your next stay better than the last! Safe travels, Jomar M. Case Manager IHGService

We stayed at the Staybridge Times Square it close to all of the Times Square subway stops and an reasonable walk to Penn Station. The street faces one side of the Port Authority bus terminal which is a bit grimy. There is also some government agency on the street which attracts some questionable dudes but there are lots of hotels on the street so you feel safe. The rooms were fresh and clean although there were some black bits in the bat Lhasa tub which I chose not to think about. The elevators are small and under capacity for the number of guests. We chose a lower floor 6 so we could easily do the stairs up and down.
They have a decent breakfast which changes some each day to keep it fresh. Monday - Wednesday they have free beer wine and food 5-7
If the price was right we would stay again.

I like the Staybridge brand. This location is an exception. Other than central location this doesn't have any positive feature. Rough service staff, outdated furniture, poor cleanliness, small and very dated elevators (missing buttons, scratches on walls) to start with. Room was generally OK but it was small (in fairness this is common in many NYC hotels). Also in COVID times, when it is supposed to have an extra layer of attention to cleaning, there were a few spots where it was noticeable that attention has not been given. Bedding quality was comfortable. Lastly this hotel as many others, is riding the COVID wave as excuse of suspending breakfast service. My visit was in May 2021 where many restrictions were being lifted and there was no reason to suspend breakfast when it is part of the rate. Coffee was the only thing available and I went to get some at 6:30 AM and it was not being prepared yet. In summary, I hope to never need to stay here in the future.

Arrived for 4 nights, fans in rooms very noisy, room service poor as items not replaced each day when used. Left a tip and was charged 5 dollars a day upon checkout. The lifts are disgraceful!! So slow and you wait for ages. Wouldn’t recommend.

Hello paulhX7011JI, Thank you for choosing the Staybridge Suites Times Square, New York City, for your recent stay. We want our guests to feel the comfort of home, away from home, but I read how the lift and the noise coming from the fan caused your discomfort during your stay. I also regard your concern about the daily replenishment of the room amenities, and where the $5 charge came from when you checked out. I shared your comment with the hotel management for review, and I sent you a private message to discuss this more. We value our guests' experience. I hope to get another chance to host your next stay and make the value of your experience worth it for all the right reasons. Sincerely, Jeraldine R. Case Manager IHGService

I strongly recommend to stay in other hotel. Front desk lady treats you in the worst possible manner. I changed my room 3 times because of there was blood in the floor, ashes in the window and bad smell. They charged us with breakfast and at the time we arrived she told us that "breakfast was suspended" with out any type of refund or at least, an apologize.

We got this hotel through a mystery deal on Priceline. We didn't know what hotel we would get. We won the lottery! This place was great! It was located around the corner from the bus station, where we came into NY and a very short distance to the theater we went to.
We arrived at 11, hoping maybe our room would be ready to drop our luggage off. They were very accommodating. If we wanted a room early, it would be a lower level but there was one available. Perfect!
Monday through Wednesday nights they have a social that includes FREE appetizers and beer/wine. Yes, free! That was a lovely break in our busy day.
Then, the next morning, FREE breakfast! Although imagine a hotel of people crammed in for free eggs. It was a bit too crowded for me, and well, very frustrating that some people stayed and just occupied the tables while surfing the internet.
The hotel itself is a bit dated (it's NYC) but the rooms are all modern. The suite had a fridge, microwave, sink, plates etc. (We didn't need it but it was nice). There was a tiny dining area, chair and comfortable bed!! TV was big by hotel standards.
My biggest concern is always cleanliness. They passed my test. But, not by much. If I'm being honest, they could have done a deeper clean in the corners and hidden areas (the areas that don't go unhidden to me). But that's being picky.
Staff gets an A+. They were friendly and helpful.
I'd definitely stay again.
