Great location, friendly staff. Rooms were clean and spacious. They assisted in getting taxis and gave information concerning subways. There is a Starbucks in the lounge. We got a good deal and will consider returning next time in Big Apple.

We traveled in mid January with a family of 5 and stayed in a wonderful room. We arrived via cab but found the hotel very well located less than a block from Penn Station with a subway entrance just steps from the hotel lobby. As a plus there is a NYPD station right next to the hotel so we always felt very safe.

We found our 1st floor room much larger than expected and the super high ceilings in one part of the room made it feel even larger, Our room had one very comfortable king bed in one section of the room and twin bunk beds and pull out sofa sleeper. All smaller beds were quite comfortable even the sofa sleeper. The bathroom was a good size and well equipped. Our room had 2 TV which even though quite close together were nice to keep the kids busy with their TV or playing the included Wii gaming system while we watched something else in the area with the king bed. (Although the room while big is small enough the with both TV on was loud) .
Room was clean and well appointed with modern touches including wood floors and a thermostat in the room which kept the room comfortable. Because of the time of the year we also had a small portable radiator type space heater which was a god send when the weather turned very cold on 2 days. The bed liens were comfortable and had wonderful pillow selection.

Only real complaint we had with the room that was built to accommodate 6 (and we had 5 for a week) there was no space to unpack. For the most part we were forced to live out of our suit cases leaving them open and shoved under the beds to keep them from underfoot. It was minor but a real pain no less. I would suggest the hotel think about removing the bench and coat hooks by the door and replace that area with a floor to ceiling dresser or some kind and then move the coat rack to the wall by the larger bed. Minor but for those saying here plan on space for luggage and clothing being at a premium.

Lobby was smallish (as to be expected in NYC) but had everything needed including a super friendly and helpful front desk staff that quickly checked us in and help us with our every request. Special shout out the the bellman working days on Monday that took such great care of our and our many many bags. Make sure you visit the 15th floor open roof deck. It is a treat!!!

Only two minor issues we had with housekeeping not restocking towels after room was cleaned (twice) but sure that was a over site and the staff quickly brought us a fresh supply. Also the drain in the tub was slow but again they hotel quickly respond to this and corrected this issue.

When we return to NYC with our family we will stay here again without question! A great value for a family in a perfect location for your many NYC adventures.

The location was great- a ten minute walk to Time Square and fifteen minutes to Rockefeller Center. It was easy to access from the Lincoln tunnel and was literally only two turns to return to the tunnel when we left. The parking deal the hotel has with the Meyer garage across the street is GREAT, only $50 for our SUV for more than 36 hours (it’s valet only so be prepared to get your luggage out ASAP)! The hotel held our luggage when we arrived at 9 am so we could start exploring the city! The room was a good size for our family of five and all the beds were comfortable except the sofa bed- you could feel every spring and coil. Staff was nice and accommodating.

Great location to Times square, within walking distance of Penn Station (if taking in the train), and great diner, Tick Tock right around the corner. The hotel itself was clean and the bar service was great. The room was not cleaned, our toilet was plugged and the room was not vacuumed upon our arrival. We complained, and were told they couldn't address it until 11 a.m. the next day when their maintenance crew came in to unlock the closest of supplies. We had to use the hotel public bathrooms. The room was cold, and was way too small for a family of 5, don't get their rooms on 1st floor unless you have very small children and party of 4. We asked to be switched out, even offering to pay extra for 2 king rooms and were told they couldn't do that, nor offered to put us up somewhere else. The pull out bed springs dug into my son's back, causing him back pain throughout our stay. 1/2 size fridge, and no TV for the kids, in a kid friendly room, what's up with that?! We only received 1 light breakfast for our trouble, and an apology. We will not be back and will not recommend it to anyone else. There are other hotels nearby that are better.

I decided to stay at Tryp to take advantage of my diamond status. From the moment we got there the front desk man was disrespectful and assigned us the smallest room ever. I called Amex platinum and after 40 minutes, we were advised to go back to the front desk man and get a better room and free continental breakfast vouchers for the inconvenience. We were given the option to stay on the top floor in a much bigger room which we were satisfied with. However, later we learned that there was mold in the bathroom and in the toilet. My husband went out and bought bleach for the toilet. So disgusting! Then trying to find out when check out was, which should seem like a simple question, I was given different answers each time. Diamond members get 1:00pm but they kept telling me 11am. During check out, we wanted to leave our bags at the front desk for an hour and they pointed to a room with other bags and no attendee. Didn’t feel safe - but we didn’t have another option at the time. When we came back we saw girls going in a out of the room but we were told that the bell hop would have to get our bags for us when we tried to get our bags. We also tried to a bagel while sitting at the front lobby. We asked for permission to sit on the black couch and a worker there said it would be fine. 5 minutes later some Indian lady comes yelling at us to go upstairs where there was NO SPACE to eat. The guy refilling the vending machine had his stuff all over the one couch that was upstairs. So disappointed how they treat customers here, especially when I’m a diamond member. Please do not come here. The continental breakfast isn’t that good either - go to the bagels places right down the road.

Let's start with the positives. Good location if you are a tourist in NYC. The family rooms have space which is rare in NYC and can cater to at least 6. The black out curtains did a good job of shielding the light and the windows are thick enough. that noise is more limited.

On a negatives, the reception area was a mess, the staff short and rude, the "extra" charges unacceptable ($45 fo early check in (literally for 2 hours before even if they have the room ready), $15 an hour for late check out after 11am, $5 per bag to leave behind their reception area after check out etc etc. Basically you feel like you're being ripped off and this was after they'd already gouged you for $500 a night (once other extra fees/taxes are added in - just ignore the headline rates as it'll be at least 30% on top)

The room as mentioned was ok, but it smelt of a strong disinfectant and the sofa bed when we opened it up, was covered in a thin layer of dust. The room was bare bones aside this, but functional. The bunk bed and sofa bed were particularly uncomfortable. One of my children commented that the bunk bed was how she imaged beds in prison, basic metal, super creeky and thin mattresses

Hotels in NYC are always a gamble and usually over-priced for what you get, but I personally would give this one a miss next time as plenty of better options

Respected Guest Thank you for your remarks We are happy you like the room & decor inside the room Our reception area is far better than other hotels in New York. The frontage of the hotel is 90 feet wide, Reception & Bar & Restaurant all are on the ground floor, this is why most of the guest cannot resist it calling WOW 2nd we are the only hotel in Manhattan where six guests can sleep in one room instead of renting two-room for six guests , Lot of saving for guest prospective man No Guest is paying $500.00 for our spacious rooms anymore Due to Covid-19 All rooms are heavily discounted 3rd Why we are charging an additional $15.00 hours? Please with modern technology while the guest is out of the room. All mechanical pieces of equipment are in the Sleeping mode, As soon as the guest enters all room equipment start working Please note cover the cost of utilities we are charging $15.00 per hour Please just to cover the fraction cost for the area allocated to guest storage we are charging $5.00 per suitcase, Please rest assured we always give our guests the value for their money Hoping I have justified the cost related to our services Once again thank you for choosing our TRYP Hotel We are looking forward to serving you whenever your trip will be to Manhattan-New York Regards /John Sharma

Have no idea how this hotel got 4 stars

Pro's-Location

Cons-Horrible Customer Service: When we got there (5 of us) the room was clean but no toilet paper. Figured it was just a mistake so went to the front desk to get some. They gave us one roll and a box of tissues. Not much for 5 people. And it's the super cheap stuff. You know the kind you had to buy because it was the only thing left during the pandemic. As the trip went on we noticed more and more problems. There was no sheet on one of the beds and beds consisted of a comforter that was too small (didn't even hang over the sides). After going out site seeing the next day, we returned to find no one had been in to clean the room, remove the trash, give fresh towels, replace the coffee, etc. My husband went to the front desk to ask about the cleaning services and she said nothing but pointed to a sign that said they are a "green hotel" and only change linens and give fresh towels every other day. When he asked if someone should have come to take out the trash she muttered yes and would send someone. She then gave my husband a trash bag to hold us over. Needless to say no one came to get the trash. We figured, ok someone will come tomorrow. Nope, wrong again. We got back from site seeing the following day and still no one had been to our room. My husband AGAIN went downstairs to the desk to ask about this. She seemed annoyed, gave him fresh towels and more trash bags and toilet paper and said someone would be up to get the trash but no one came. The lady at the front desk was unapologetic and rude. Every time my husband went to the front desk with a problem there was someone down there making a similar complaint. One family who had been there 5 days only got their room cleaned once and the hotel also charged this poor family money to hold their bags for 2 hours while they ran a couple errands before their flight. No courtesy hold for spending over $1,000 for their hotel stay. Also, I used my AAA card to get a discount and it was supposed to come with 2 complimentary breakfast WRONG AGAIN! When I asked the lady about the complimentary breakfast for 2 that came with our package she said "yea, we don't do that" so don't expect to get it. They have no breakfast at all unless you want to order expensive room service. Oh and be careful of the shower. The hot water sneaks up on you and practically burns you so you'll have to play around with the temperatures a bit. I've come to realize that this hotel is "green" because they are lazy and don't want to clean everyday, or 2, or 3, or 4... NOT because they care about the environment. There are a ton of other hotels around that are probably better so unless you want to do your own housekeeping I would go somewhere else.

Room is FILTHY!!!! Air doesn't work. My refrigerator had year old rotted food in it. The bed linen had bodily fluid (Nice way to put it) stains on it. I literally slept on top of the covers with a towel and my airplane blanket. Shower had a glob of hair on the floor. I have never felt so dirty in a hotel room!! Asked for bottled water. The front desk clerk says they only allow 2 bottles per day per room. She said she would "see if she could find some". That was yesterday....

We booked a King Bed at the TRYP by Wyndham. When we checked in, we let them know we booked a king room. They then let us know that the hotel was overbooked and offered to “upgrade” us to 2 queen beds. When we declined, they said “it’s ok, we will take care of it” and proceeded to put us into a single queen bed for two nights.

When we got into our room, our bathroom had not been cleaned, there was a bit of broken glass on the floor and the gasket on the shower door was completely off. There was also shower debris such as shampoo and bath wash caps in the actual shower.

We called for room service and a man came in with some towels to wipe the bathroom down and pick up the previous guest’s garbage. When he left the towels were black. Needless to say, we were no longer comfortable with the cleanliness of the rest of the room. Although uncomfortable, we managed. Also, the bed seemed a bit small for a king, but we did not complain about it.

Our A/C went out the next day, so we called for someone to come fix it. Someone came about 20 min later, fumbled around and left saying he would be back. He never returned and our room was around 80 degrees the entire night.

We called 4 times the next morning and were told they would send someone to our room to handle the A/C, but no one showed up. Tired of waiting and extremely upset, we went downstairs to discuss the matter with the front desk agent. It was at this time we were informed by a woman at the front desk that there was no one there to handle our maintenance request and they would move us to another room. We accepted but wondered why she did not tell us this the previous 4 times we called. We could have avoided sitting in the heat for the entire morning if the front desk agent properly and timely communicated.

It was not until moving our stuff to the new room that we realized the difference in bed and room. Although we paid for a king size bed and room what we were given was a queen bed for the past 2 nights. This is unacceptable because we were not given the accommodations we paid for.

At this point we have emailed management requesting a refund for those nights and have yet to hear back.

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. It is near Times Square and a subway station that will get you anywhere else. The family room was a great size and if the place was cleaner it would have been great. The housekeeping was terrible. The sheets, pillow cases, dust ruffles and mattresses were all blood stained. Some sheets had holes in them. We were there for a week and it was a crap shoot on what housekeeping would clean each day. Some days there was nothing done, even when I specifically requested service. One day I had to ask three times to get trash service and towels. Some days we got new towels but no washcloths. Some days new towels but trash wasn't taken out. We had to go to the front desk several times for toilet paper, sheets, cups (never in plastic to indicate they were new) and towels. We had to buy a fan because the AC on one side of the room didn't cool. There were also no lights in half the room. In a time where being clean and sanitary is so important I was shocked at how unclean things were. Seriously, throw away stained bedding and towels. No one wants to use those.
