My wife and I have stayed at the Jewel before. It's a GREAT location, especially if you're doing something at Radio City or want to wander through MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) or just be conveniently located to Central park AND Times Square. The rooms, although small, have enough room so you can get around without constantly tripping over something and some of the amenities are really great!. Like, water filtering units on each floor with readily available plastic water bottles you can fill & carry either to your room or out on a walking adventure in NYC, or a washer/dryer on the 5th floor for guests to use which is not only free, but they provide powder soap and dryer sheets.! The rooms are clean and in pretty good shape and it's amazingly quiet, especially if you get a room that doesn't face 51st st. The only aggravating thing has to do with the provision of coffee in the guest "living room". This is a nice facility, kind of like a private lobby with comfortable tables/chairs, a TV, the ubiquitous water bottle filler and a nice expresso/coffee maker machine (with all the needed accessories). Their website says coffee is available 7/24, BUT from 7-10 each morning they shut it down to, I guess, force you to go down to the coffee shop in the lowest level of the building where for $5 you can get a coffee whereas for the rest of the time in the Living Room, it's free. It's just a nickel/dime move, IMHO, to force traffic into the eatery as it offers muffins and such to buy if you want a convenient breakfast. I'm an early morning person and like to get up, do some email, get the day organized while leaving my wife undisturbed. I was attracted by the offer of 7/24 coffee in the living room and find it annoying that they're not living up to the expectation they set in their promotional materials. I guess strictly speaking, coffee is available 7/24 but it's not 7/24 in the living room and not free from 7-10am. Sure forcing folks to go down to the cafe to get coffee in the prime morning hours no doubt stokes its revenues, but it seems petty and one can't schlep down to the open to the public Cafe in your PJs & slippers to get the caffeine fires roaring with the same aplomb as one can the guest only living room. At least they should adjust their descriptive materials.

This hotel has been designed in such a smart way. Lots of great amenities like an espresso machine in their second floor living room, laundry and gym facilities on the 5th floor, rooms are nice and have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. They are NYC small, but designed so smart and efficiently, you don't mind. A small lobby, but you are greeted with a candy bar and great customer service. The location is central to everything, if you want to walk to Javits, Time Square, Mid-town, subway, Broadway, etc. And as advertised, it faces Rockefeller Plaza.
Random side notes:
It smells good - it doesn't have any of the funky smells even nicer NYC hotels can have
The customer service really is great
Beds were comfortable
Plumbing overall and showers were great
They have purified chilled water dispensers with water bottles if you need them on every floor

From LaGuardia Airport it is as easy a Bus / Subway ride as you can get to the Rockefeller Subway stop, and then a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Hotel. Perfect location as almost all the theatres are within a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Jewel. The NYC Subway is as close as one is going to get ! Everyone at reception is friendly and helpful, and housekeeping excellent, elevators are fast. TV in my room very easy to use, excellent walk in shower and bathroom, hooks to hang coats, full length mirrors in room and elevators, functional closet for clothes with iron and board, easy to open windows and good view of the nearby St Patrick's Cathedral or Radio City or Rockefeller Christmas Tree depending on the room you get. Two computers to use on floor 2 as well as Free Espresso / Cappucino machine producing excellent coffee as well as Tea. Nice Sitting area on floor 2 to enjoy the 2 available newspapers and is a great place to meet up with the rest of your group if applicable. Bed was terrific, liked the pillows, and noise from the street and other rooms is almost non existent. Did not have to use their available umbrellas. After checkout Jewel stored my luggage so that I could spend a few more hours enjoying Manhattan before leaving for my evening flight. Subway and Bus back to Terminal C at LaGuardia took less than an hour total but will take longer during rush hour and if their is a long line at the Airport Bus.

This is a difficult review, the rating is not easy to arrive at. The property has some excellent features, ie: Chilled, Purified Water dispensers on every floor, a lounge with coffee and tea drinks 24/7 all at no additional cost. A call ahead before checking-in on the phone app helped me obtain the support of Randy, he delivered ! Thanks.. A corner room with windows facing 30 Rock (across 51st st. & Radio City Music Hall west on 51st street. (Amazing) Now the room was peculiar in that the carpet was tired, the large chair thread worn and the bed (a king) split with two single mattresses. (Haven't seen that in years). The Club Quarters concept isn't for everyone, there is one person at a small desk upon arrival, several check-in kiosk like stations and a position for what appeared to be a concierge.. (That was where I found Randy). In this COVID world, this property was masterful.. delivering everything requested in large plastic bags secured to the door handle.. (No personal interaction required). The staff responds to requests promptly and efficiently.

The Jewel offers food service through something called "The Butler", I chose to have food delivered from various restaurants. I preferred not to dine in during the emerging Omicron surge. Soon after my departure, Radio City shut down as did several Broadway shows.

I liked this hotel in-spite of the need to refurnish the guest rooms. It was clean, and I felt safe.. The desk space was fabulous and lighting adequate. Housekeeping service upon request (COVID). Once in your room, it becomes your safe place. The location is to die for, next to American Girl, across the street from Rock Center, very close to St. Patricks Cathedral and all the NYC shopping on Fifth Ave.

The price point is good value for all you obtain, All in all I would, I would not be scared off from some of my observations if the benefits out weigh the negatives and cost is a concern. Like I said, this property is not for everyone... If you are looking for a more modern hotel with traditional features.. I would look elsewhere.. If you can overlook some issues and enjoy the big picture.. This could be a good choice.

I stayed at this hotel for 13 nights with my parents. As a result, this hotel is highly recommended for family trips. If I visit New York again for the same budget, I will choose this hotel again without hesitation.

The most powerful advantage of Jewel is its location. If the place was too close to Times Square, I thought the lights and sounds of the night would be annoying, and if it was too outside, it would be cheap but dangerous. The Jewel is completely close to Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. It's also a big advantage that it's easy to walk to major New York attractions such as Times Square, Central Park, and Broadway theaters. There was Duane Reade near the hotel, so it was good to get something to eat.

We stayed at Deluxe Two Room Suite. There are two rooms and two bathrooms each, a kitchen for simple cooking, and a living room with a table and sofa.

Each room and living room have a system that allows me to connect my iPhone to see the screen, but my parents who can't speak English couldn't use this system alone. That's a little disappointing.

I think it's probably because of COVID-19, but when I first entered the room, there was no kitchenware in the kitchen. However, when I asked the staff, they kindly brought the necessary kitchenware according to the number of people. Thank you.

Housekeeping visited us once every four days, and it was enough for us. The staff brought me a new towel whenever I asked. It was also very convenient to use the washtower(washer and laundry dryer) on the fifth floor for free. On the second floor, there is a lounge, a printer that can print, and a computer. We also used the coffee machine every day.

The view from the room was somewhat unsatisfactory. However, this was not a big problem because I didn't look at the accommodation in anticipation of the view from the beginning. We chose The Jewel, focusing more on the location of the hotel and functional convenience and cleanliness than luxury.

During the stay, all the staff responded kindly.
I totally agree with the review that this hotel is the real Jewel of New York.

I booked this room for the view of Rockefeller Center and the famous NYC tree. It seemed promising and the pictures online were spectacular. When I checked in, they informed us that even though our stay was costing $450 a night, there would be no daily housekeeping because of Covid, which basically means they laid off their housekeepers because they don’t have enough money to pay for daily cleanings. Bummer.

When I got upstairs, I saw that my two bedroom suite did not even have a mini bar where I can have stuff charged to the room. I had to stock everything myself from Duane Reade. OKAAAAY, but not what I was expecting for $450 a night. The place was dusty… I mean REALLY dusty. It was exceptionally bothersome in the areas where we eat. So I reported it to their text line. If this is what was able to be seen, my discomfort about it was: what CAN’T we see? Is this even Covid clean?? My options were to have my room cleaned or to have a room change. I opted for a room change since I also thought that some of the living room furniture was raggedy and maybe I would get lucky with the next room with better furniture and a sliding door for my bedroom that actually SLID open and closed instead of getting stuck.

In the second room, the Wi-Fi signal was just as weak as the first room but the bigger problem was that the cable was out. The maintenance guy came to our room 4 times (even switched out the cable boxes) and on the 5 time that the cable went out it was suggested that we change rooms again. By this time a different shift was working at the front desk so I informed them that we changed rooms just that morning and they told me that they were aware. It seemed as though even the staff knew that they had the worst cable because they were blaming the system and its flaws. The Jewel has this terrible cable system called InnSpire that would flash on the home screen every time the cable cut out. I was almost inspired to checked out. It was horrible. We had been out all day sightseeing and it was a very cold night. All we wanted to do was relax and watch movies at this time but we had been messing with the cable for two hours. Nonetheless, we changed rooms and the third room had better working cable but now this room had crappy living room furniture and poorly sliding doors. You really shouldn’t have to “win some lose some” for $450 a night. This was a very disappointing hotel stay and not one that I would expect from a place that was so highly rated. I expect hotels of this level to have the best cleaning standards. It should be neat and clean on arrival and of course dust free.

The front desk tried to use the excuse that the rooms are sealed once they are cleaned. That is not an excuse! Change your standards! It needs to be higher. You do not give dusty rooms to guests or furniture that looks dirty and stained. The only reason why I gave this hotel three stars instead of two is because it is across the street from Rockefeller Center.

PROS: Fantastic location adjacent to the Rockefeller Centre and Radio City. 10 min stroll to Times Square, very safe area. The staff are helpful and very pleasant to interact with. Emmanuel was who we interacted with most and he is very friendly and easy to deal with. There is no resort fee which is rare in NYC and the facilities are quite good. There is a fitness room with weights and Peleton bike. There are also amenities such as a washing machine with free detergent is available to use, vending machines, computer and printer, free tea and coffee area and free filtered water and re-usable bottles located on each floor. There is a deposit on check-in but again this is common and no issue. We stayed in a Deluxe room which was quite spacious for a room in New York, the photos do not do justice to the space. We also had a fridge, microwave and coffee machine in the room. The temperature of the room was easy to control via control panel. The television has lots of channels but also you can cast from your phone so you can watch Netflix etc and the wifi signal is strong. We booked through booking.com and got a free taxi from ELife from Newark directly to the door. On our return journey we got a bus from Bryant Park direct to the Airport. This bus stop services all airports and makes transfer easy.

CONS: The light switch in the bathroom did flash/spark at times which would need to be fixed. The internet dropped off service twice but if you phone reception they reset it and it does come back immediately. Rooms are not serviced due to COVID restrictions, you can phone and request anything you need but you would miss the automatic replenishment of the coffee supplies, fresh towels and having the bed made etc. When we did request more bathroom supplies they were dropped to the room very quickly so not a big issue.

Overall I would highly recommend the hotel for value for money and location and I hope to stay there again.

This is our second time staying at The Jewel! Perfect location; excellent staff - very friendly, courteous and remember you by name. The rooms were spotless and our corner view of Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall was awesome. Each floor has a water filter system with free refill bottles which makes it totally awesome since we drink a lot of water Very convenient location to everything. My husband and I loved staying at the Jewel hotel facing Rockefeller Center. The staff were very helpful from the moment that I made my reservation to the moment that we left. This hotel is only a short 5-10 min. walk to Central Park and Time Square. It is only a 3 to 4 minute walk to the Top of the Rock-observation deck, the Rockefeller subway, and Radio City Music Hall. Del Frisco's Grill is across the street. We ate there the evening that we arrived. I had the house salad with bacon, my husband had a delicious double cheese burger, and we both enjoyed the sweet potato fries. There is a McDonalds down the block where we had breakfast one time. This hotel is right next to the American Girl Store and just a few yards from the beautiful St. Patrick's Church. It was quiet at night...we faced the AC courtyard. The bed was comfortable, but the room was quite small. There were only about 6-8 inches between the foot of the bed and the wall. I slept on the far side of the bed so I bumped my shoulder on the flat screen TV when I got up in the night.
You could fill up your water bottle at a couple of different water stations at the hotel. They also provided empty water bottles for you to fill and all the coffee/cappuccinos that you wanted, for no additional cost (no free breakfast though). I also appreciated the free use of the washer & dryer near the fitness center. They even provided detergent and Downey dryer sheets. The extra touches for no additional fee were very appreciated. If we are ever in the area again we will stay at the Jewel.
