Let's start with the positives. The hotel is in a great location if you want to be on the Upper East Side, the staff is exceptionally nice and helpful, the rooms are clean and well-sized, each unit has a kitchen, and the price is reasonable. We were upgraded without asking and at no cost. On the other hand, the rooms could use some updating. The sofa bed we had in our unit was terribly thin, soft, and had springs pushing through. The units are sparsely decorated and could probably use a new carpet and furnishings. Maybe even a picture or two on the wall. We would stay there again if visiting that part of Manhattan.

The hotel is chic with spacious rooms and centrally located. The subway is a short walk away and we loved that despite its convenient location in Midtown West, it’s a quieter part of the city. The staff are warm, welcoming and extremely helpful; from making any changes to bookings, to accommodating requests and even giving sterling restaurant recommendations. Eleonor is an excellent Rooms Manager, Flloyd & Cassandra are outstanding and generally speaking all staff go out of their way to assist where possible.

The rooms are spacious, the beds are a dream! The Turkish baths were just what we needed after rainy days of walking the city.

Extremely happy with our stay!

My wife and I visit our son and family the UES a few times a year. We have been staying at another hotel, but decided to try the Marmara this time. We will probably come back in the future, depending mainly on price.

Our room - or rather, our suite - was very roomy. There was a kitchen with full-size fridge, oven, dishwasher (!), dishes, etc. The living room and bedroom were spacious. The bathroom was larger than many I've seen in New York.

Cleanliness was a bit of a concern. The freezer compartment in the fridge had a big smear of what appeared to be grape jelly, and I found Cheeto crumbs on the floor in the living room. The counter in the bathroom didn't look great, but that may have been the stone the counter was made of.

Our room could have used updating. The furniture was serviceable, but institutional. Some pops of color here and there would make a big difference.

Initial check-in at any hotel holds primary perception, suggestion...maybe hire staff that show a bit of care. These people are in essence the face of the hotel. I walked in, and dealt with someone with a terrible attitude and 0 personality. This is coming from a pretty chill person which says a lot, the immediate disdain I now have for the hotel is 1000% from my initial interaction. Rooms were well decorated and the location is prime, as humans social interaction is still a big component of any decision. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

We are two women in our seventies who have stayed at the Marmara several times a year for many years. We think of it as a “home
Away from home”. We like it so much that we have referred many of our friends here.
We stayed here this week and had a very unpleasant experience which may mean that we’ll never be back.
Since we travel to New York to work, we use The Marmara as an apartment. We bring food so we can make our own meals, an air mattress (to compensate for their very poor sofa bed), etc. we don’t travel light. And that’s been fine; there is always a friendly doorman to help bring our luggage out of our car and up to our rooms and then back to our car.
As we left today, my partner went to get the car and asked the person at the desk to send up the doorman to help with our luggage. Five minutes later, I received a call from the woman at the desk informing me that they had no doorman working today (a Sunday when everyone is checking out), couldn’t find the other person who worked there, and we’d have to help ourselves. “Sorry”, she non-chalantly said. “Sorry” indeed, since my partner was double parked outside, and I couldn’t handle all of our belongings myself. After texting my partner, she left her car (luckily didn’t get a ticket),and had words with the woman at the desk. Somehow, a person was mysteriously found who could help us.
Marmara, you’ve let us down.

I booked this hotel using Hotels.com.. I chose it due to location, as there are not many options on the Upper East Side of Manhattan where I needed to stay and the very nice pictures on Hotels.com.. The alternative was a Courtyard Marriott which was less expensive but I thought I would treat myself to a Boutique Hotel. When I arrived and got to my room I was shocked that it looked nothing like the pictures I saw. I complained downstairs and got the impression that I was not the first person who had this complaint. That said, I was told the studios were all the same so no need to change rooms and the only person who could do anything else for me was the manager, Roger, who was not available till the next day. When I left the next morning, I asked for Roger but he was not in yet. I asked if he could call me but that was not an option. So the next day, I asked for him and he was not scheduled to arrive that day till 9:30. So, all I could do was call him and he said that he understood but that I needed to speak with Hotels.com (since that is who I made the reservation with) and they could request compensation from him and he implied he would be able to do something to make this right. I called Hotels.com 2X and they said they could not get in touch with Roger but that the hotel said that they could not do anything. I did get some relief from Hotels.com but I must say that not only was this false advertising but Roger lied to me.

Bottom line.....do not believe the pictures and if you need to be on the Upper East Side, choose the Courtyard Marriott!

Manager Roger Arboleda & staff (ALL staff-day & night) were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Had to be in upper Eastside 25 days for treatment so the MM was a real find! Not fancy but huge rooms where everything worked..great bed, shower, full kitchen. I’m allergic to cats & dogs so was nervous about the rooms since the MM is pet-friendly. Our room was very clean and I had no allergic reaction whatsoever..no trace of animals. Matt & Jessica front desk were great as were the day & evening concierge guys. The rate was more than fair and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I needed a place to stay while my daughter recovered from a major surgery. There are no words to express my gratitude to the staff of the Marmara. They were extremely helpful, polite and professional throughout our stay. The rooms are fantastic size wise but need updating, which I am sure is well noted by the staff and owners. If I could get my hands on one of the rooms and update it .... there is no telling how beautiful it could be. I found myself wishing these could be apartments or a co-op. I would love to purchase one.... tell the owner. I loved it that much ! I would come back and stay in a second ! The Q is right outside the door and there are great restaurants all over. Just walk up to 3rd Ave and you have plenty of shopping or jump over to Lexington and window shop. If you like new and fancy this is not for you, if you like size, a decent price, location and great staff you will be all set. Kitty Palumbo

Located in Manhattan's Yorkville neighborhood, The Marmara was my home for 2 weeks during the COVID crisis. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They helped me find good places to eat, shop, where to park and kept me feeling safe since I was a New York "NEWBEE." Everything is within walking distance and the subway is 20 steps from the entrance. If you are looking for convenience, this is where to stay!

We enjoyed the comfort, location and
hospitality of The Marmara Manhattan
Hotel.
Located on 94Th Street and 2nd Ave. in
New York City, NY.
We were greeted by Two Professional Hotel
Hosts Mr. Matt and Mr. Roger, who graciously
set the tone for what turned out to be a very
pleasant hotel experience.
The one bedroom suite, with balcony was
spacious, and perfectly suited our needs.
We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thanks Guys.

I don't think we noticed any smell of smoking etc. They do allow pets - so if you are allergic to pet hair etc you may want to be careful. But the apartment was cleaned regularly and we had no issues at all.

They are very accommodating and flexible. We always got early check out as early as 9 and late check because our grandson( 4 months) who was visiting us from up the road with our son ( for lunch) had asked for late check out due to late flight decided to do a huge job which required lot of clean up and change him which took even longer check out. So extremely helpful staff
