Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, the bustling, all-day street-side Café Standard with an indoor mushroom farm, and NO BAR, an inclusive bar open for weekend drinks, DJs, special events and more.

The Standard is an amazing hotel with an amazing location, amazing views, and an amazing staff. Right in the heart of the East Village surrounded by quality restaurants, it would be hard not to stay here again and again and again.

Fabulous home away from home! Danny and his warm and friendly team ensure your every need is met! These people are seriously awesome and fun and you will love them!!

We love eating our meals in the treed courtyard or in the lovely restaurant where you can sit inside or out. The menu is varied, the food delicious and well priced and the atmosphere is cozy and warm.

The hotel has done a great job keeping the hotel spic and span, hand sanitizers aplenty and proof of vaccination is required to eat in the restaurants.

The location and proximity to NYU is an absolute bonus. We moved our daughter into her dorm in September and literally rolled her bags from the hotel. The hotel nicely stored her extra luggage until move in so her room was not cluttered!

The hotel rooms are bright, the pillows and beds extra comfortable and we love the well stocked frig in the room!
We also enjoyed using the gym across the street and picked up free passes at the front desk.

We will continue to stay at the Standard and are looking forward to returning to NYC for Parent’s Wkd. Book now! You will not be disappointed!!

I was really happy with the hotel. The location can't be beat - it is in an interesting neighborhood with lots of great restaurants nearby. The hotel is charming and the staff friendly and efficient. I love the floor to ceiling windows in the room, which filled the room with light (another benefit of this neighborhood is that the surrounding buildings are lower than in midtown, allowing light into the room). I particularly appreciated the amenities, most specifically the large towels (bath sheets rather than standard-sized bath towels) and a full-sized and powerful hairdryer. The shower was also huge. The only criticism I have is that there were no drawers in my room, so I was not able to fully unpack my suitcase.

Hi SeetPea, We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. The East Village is a very dynamic neighborhood with plenty restaurants, boutiques, bars and thrift shops abounding. Bar and Restaurants all over the city have taken full advantage of using city sidewalks and streets as their own, creating special scenes designed for all New Yorker’s pleasure. All our closets come with two drawers; sorry we did not get to show you during this stay. Next time, feel free to ask us – We would love to show you different rooms which may have more storage space. We love to accommodate these kinds of requests whenever possible. We look forward to seeing you again! Best, Franck Hermann. Director, Front Office

The hotel is very friendly and in a good location and clean and tidy with very comfy beds. The room has no coffee or tea facility, one dressing gown for two people, the TV does not work and everyone on the street can see you in the shower as there is no blind or curtain in the bathroom. At the weekend the music from the bar is very loud and kept us awake at night. We can not fault the friendly and helpful staff and the clean and tidy rooms, their just needs more attention to detail in regard to the set up of the rooms.

Currently staying at this hotel. Would not recommend it at all!
They list room service as an amenity but fail to mention that it is only from 8 to 4. Their website does not have updated info re their services and amenities.
Also, was told at check in that breakfast is served from 8 to 11, but this morning was informed that they decided to end it at 9:30.
If I had not called at 9, there would be no breakfast! Then, they send breakfast in containers in a paper bag without plates, coffee in a paper cup. When I asked for a mug, they said "due to COVID" they are unable to give you a mug. However, they are serving food and drinks using proper crockery in their on site cafe and garden. The concierge staff was rude when I asked for the mug. I wonder what his reaction would have been if asked for a plate.
Moreover, info differs based on the person you speak with re anything.
Takes about an hour to get coffee. (P.s. there isn't a coffee machine or kettle in the room). Took 2 hours to get water.
I have been staying at hotels in and out of the country since Sept 2020, and this is definitely the worst service.
COVID is NOT an excuse for bad service.
Room is nice. Bed is comfortable. Needs some refurbishment. Aircon stopped working in the middle of the night and switched to heat on its own. However, the engineer did come by to fix the thermostat. Stained towels.
Called amex travel as thats where we booked the hotel. Its part of their hotel collection which is shocking! Ames travel supervisor was unable to get through to the hotel manager. She called several times. I am assuming there isnt a manager!

I cannot say enough about my stay. The hotel is gorgeous inside and out. The rooms are ULTRA modern, clean, well appointed, killer wet bar, and the view. Wow!

On top of all of that I had a very important FedEx package which arrived before I did. As soon as I checked in they let me know that they had received it and had it delivered to my room.

When I told the front desk person that I would prefer something with a view they upgraded me at a very reasonable rate to the 17th floor, corner room, KILLER view.

And everyone on their staff smiles at you! I felt welcomed and taken care of. A RARE occurrence in these times.

The best stay I've had a hotel in years. Truly. And I travel a fair amount.

High recommended.

We wanted a room with a tub and a view so we were offered a corner room upgrade that included the tub as well as a view. The restroom and bath were amazing but the windows were filthy so the view was taken away from. Also, the TV offered an option to airplay from your device. It would work until you tried to stream a movie or something then it would error out. Once looking into the error it was for the internet not being fast enough to support the streaming of video. There was an option to purchase faster internet for $19/day.
The staff was very friendly and helpful though and the hotel as a whole had a great vibe.

So I decided to do a staycation for my birthday. The gentlemen with glasses who checked me in the front desk was so nice and helpful. Check in was a breeze. I went to the room, corner king in 1602 and the view was spectacular. I will say that the bedding was clean, however, there was hair on the bed but I bought my own cleaning products and took care of it, using disinfectant to spray the sheets and pillows. The lip pillow needs to go lolol. The bathroom was clean and had enough towels. Only other complaint I have is there was no iron lol. Oh and I was super annoyed by the fact that I had a room there but couldn't eat at the restaurant downstairs. The hostess had this really dismissive tone. It was my birthday and she could've accommodated for one person. That also played a large part in me not ordering room service because I know where it was going to. Other than that, staff was nice and when I called for the desk for help to close the window they sent someone up right away.

Hi Jaye784, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am glad to hear you met with Danny our manager upon your arrival. The views from the our High Floor Corner are incredible. We do offer iron or steamer upon request. Feel free to ask ahead, we will be happy to set it up in your room. Due to Covid restaurants had to limit their seating area. It is true that at times it can be challenging to find access to our venues. We highly recommend to make a reservation prior to your stay. Please contact me directly next time you would like to return. I am sure we could be your hotel of choice in the future. Best, Franck Hermann. Director, Front Office fhermann@standardhotels.com

So walking in to this hotel I was a bit hesitant as I typically go for the brands where I know what to expect. Upon walking in I was greeted by three people and was promptly taken care of by a Front Desk Agent who told me all about the hotel and breakfast and gave me a dinner recommendation. I was offered assistance up to my room and once there the Bellman offered any additional assistance and left. the room was clean and bright I was a bit worried about the huge windows however the curtain took care of them. I enjoyed this stay, even in the early hours of the morning there were people to help and take care of what I needed.

Thank you for taking great care of me!!!!

The warm welcome from the folks at The Standard East Village is like checking in to your own personal apartment building in New York. The garden bar is the oasis you need after a long day of meetings and the view from every room is fit for a postcard. The small details throughout your stay are so thoughtful... hand sanitizer, ear plugs, thimbles, etc. I can not recommend this location of The Standard enough... I will be back soon.

It’s actually the other way around. It’s called the penthouse, but is actually a large entertainment space including outdo areas with fabulous views of Manhattan. It’s also a popular entertainment space, so you may not always have access to it. Otherwise, just take the elevator and enjoy.

We stayed in a corner king room on the fifteenth floor and it was perfectly quiet. The panoramic view, while facing west and north, had spectacular southern exposure as well. The staff is impeccable and they anticipate your needs with expedient enthusiasm.

Mommakirby, While this amenity is not yet standard in every room, we understand the commodity of having coffee at your fingertips. We do offer a drip coffee setup by La Colombe in our Downtown Studio category rooms. Don't hesitate to ask our Guest Services team for anything you may need. We will always do our best to accommodate your requests! Best, David Lopez
