This hotel is priced accordingly because of 2 major issues that will not be resolved: first, the two elevators that service an 18 story hotel are snail slow and painfully inadequate for the number of rooms; second, the rooms are small with no place to unpack, store, hang clothes and store your luggage. The breakfast is typical with preprocessed breakfast items found in similar hotels. Ice is only available from the bar. Cleanliness suffers at most hotels because of staffing issues. We like the location but it is several blocks removed from Central Park. Staff are courteous and friendly.
I found others’ reviews of this hotel helpful and wanted to share my own. I stayed there for 3 nights mid-April. When reviews say the room is small, they aren’t kidding. The door into my room barely cleared one of the beds (double bed size). There was less than 18 inches between the two beds, and about the same between the bed and the window wall. I had a city view room, which was beautiful at night. I did not have breakfast there, so can’t speak to that. The staff were all lovely. There is a wait for the elevators during the morning when people were leaving, but it was not a problem coming and going at off-hours. The neighborhood is very quiet, nothing like staying in midtown, but it was a short walk to Columbus Circle, Central Park and Lincoln Center. 10/10 would stay here again.…
The hotel is in an excellent location, less than a 10-minute walk from both Columbus Circle and Central Park. Overall the staff is polite, friendly and very efficient. The beds are very comfortable, but the room dimensions are quite small, It's very difficult to fit two people's suitcases in the room, and in our case it was only one per person (65 cm). As the closet only has space for 2 or 3 coats, it was necessary to leave the clothes in the suitcases and opening them became a very difficult task. Breakfast is enough to start the day, but very basic, inconsistent and, by European standards, even 3 stars, with low quality products (loaf bread, microwave sandwich, packaged pastries, etc.) There were days when there were waffles, others not, on some days there were eggs, others not, on some days with very sweet juice, on others almost only water, etc. As for the room housekeeping, it is necessary to ask the reception, otherwise there is no cleaning. Of the 7 nights we stayed at this hotel, we spent the first 4 days without cleaning the room and changing towels, although I asked, right at check-in, for cleaning every other day. Apparently there was a miscommunication and after a more emphatic complaint the situation was resolved and the cleaning, which became daily, was impeccable. The Hotel charges, or pre-authorises on the credit card, a security deposit of USD 50 per day that will be refunded (or not charged) if there are no incidents. In our case it would be $350, understandable, but a bit of a stretch. Overall the experience was not bad and for what I paid I would have no problem repeating this hotel, but if I didn't pay a promotional price, given the usual rates I would probably choose another option.…
This was my 6th visit to NYC and this hotel by far was the best we have stayed in It wasn’t the biggest hotel or even the location which was great ( 10 Minutes ish walk to Times Square 10 to Central Park , 5 to the closest CVS and some restaurants ) it is the staff The team on reception are so welcoming . Make Feb effort to genuinely help - find a restaurant , help with an adaptor , extra towels the list goes on we felt so incredibly welcome the team are a credit and testimony to Yan the hotel manager I am so hard to please :) but felt needed to give a special shout out to Ashley for her sunny demeanour , welcoming smile that you can see even behind her mask and her knowledge of a Malbec!!! Also the guy who helps with bags we didn’t get his name but he was so kind a few times helping get bags and opening doors so attentive The staff really make this hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again even if it were slightly more expensive than other ones in the area Other highlights - Free breakfast is good - individual pots of cereal , croissants , waffles , bananas and apples great Starbucks strong filter style coffee , hot individual cheese and spinach omelettes that don’t look great but taste amazing !!! Room - we had 2 queen beds there isnt a huge amount of space but enough for 2 and that we slept here and had showers meant it was big enough Bar 58 downstairs does reasonably priced drinks and snacks $12 for a wine $16 ish for a cocktail which is in line with Manhattan bar prices Nearby - the burrito box if you fancy Mexican takeout was amazing and 5 mins away . Amore pizza does great slices of you need something quick and we had Uber eats from Gotham pizza and DIG which was chicken with veg and rice ( they forgot utensils and the food had somewhat spilt but if it had been right would have been incredible )…
