We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The resort was clean and comfortable, the staff members were friendly and accommodating and the location worked for us as we rented bikes to tour different areas of the city. A shout out to Patrick and Gerry Lee who went above and beyond upon check-in and through out our stay to make sure we were taken care of. Hope to visit again and explore the areas we didn’t get to. So much to see in the area! Unfortunately the neighborhood has a large homeless population but they all seemed harmless and kept to themselves. The resort was also in between two very busy streets so the traffic noise was quite noticeable on the 1st floor.

Overall, I thought Wyndham Worldmark San Diego - Balboa Park was an excellent hotel. The staff were very friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet. The location is good (walking distance to Balboa Park and downtown) but there are a number of homeless in the area. I was okay with the homeless but my wife was a bit uncomfortable. However, here's where the stay went off and I believe this feedback will help Wyndham Worldmark. My wife and I were asked to attend the timeshare presentation and were told it was "not even 5 minutes away by Lyft.” Because of Covid my wife and I were concerned how long the ride will be. The ride was over 10 minutes. Yes, we had the windows open but still...The guy who gave us the timeshare presentation kept wearing his mask improperly with the nose not being covered. I told him at the beginning of the presentation about his mask not covering his nose and reminded him throughout and yet, most of the time his nose wasn't covered. I also saw another salesman at the presentation leave his nose uncovered as he strolled around the conference rooms where the presentations were being made. At the very least the salesmen should practice good Covid hygiene. To me, that is bare minimum requirement and it wasn't met. My wife and I said at the end of the 90 minute presentation that we weren't interested. Finally, he said a gentleman would ask how our sales experience was. Instead this new guy sat down (clearly more senior) and insisted we buy. I said no and then he just got up and left without saying a word. Very rude! It was a bad experience at the timeshare presentation. High pressure, low hygiene protocols, no politeness. All that effort to create a great hotel gets blown by the timeshare salesmen. How can that possibly help Wyndham Worldmark?

The resort was in a good lcoation for Balboa part and downtown visits.
Upon checkin, you are funnelled over to sign up for their presentation, which I despise.
There is a $20/day valet parking fee if you have a car, and you are not allowed to use the lot yourself, so yiou either have to park on the street or valet.
In sone rooms, 308 being one of them, there is a scraping noise whenever someone uses the elevator.
There are washer/dryers that are free near the lobby.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this resort if you plan to be spending most of your time out and about in San Diego. it is an older building, although kept very clean. Parking is very limited and the resort does offer valet parking for an additional fee. I would not recommend this resort if you are planning to bring your family for the resort experience as there is not much to do at the resort.

This is a lovely old building. I stayed in a studio room. It is very spacious with a mini kitchen. There is a complimentary laundry room. Wifi is not free, you need to pay per day per device. Valet parking is the only option as well and is currently $30/day. There is nothing close by the hotel except a couple fast food places so you need to drive to anything you want to do (beach, eat, local sites). So this is not a very convenient location. But the staff was extremely helpful and nice. Concierge had a lot of information and pointers about the area.

I/We just spent a few days at the Worldmark by Wyndham Balboa Park in San Diego CA, and I must say that aside of the “ridiculous parking fees,” it was a “Wonderful Experience.” What it lacks in amenities is made up for in the ambiance, location and especially the staff working in the lobby and associated areas. When we first entered the lobby, we received the friendliest greeting from the staff in the reception area. To be a little more specific, I had the opportunity to work with a super nice young lady (I forgot her name and I feel terrible, but she was working the front desk on April 17th…). And the other wonderful team members consisted of Estaban who was Amazing! Yasmin who was also very friendly, kind and helpful; and to keep it short, I’ll just give the names of the others who also made our stay fun and comfortable. Patrick, Elyse, Aaron, and Yandy. If I forgot any of the others I encountered, my sincere apologies! Do the fabulous service received; I/we will definitely be visiting this resort again. Hopefully something can be done with the Hilarious parking situation, like making it FREE! Thanks to all the amazing staff!!!

We booked a week through RCI in this hotel not knowing that at the arriving time we were going to have THE MOST UNDESIRABLE ROOM due to the kind of reservation we had. Very disappointing experience looking to a yellow wall for 8 days. This is not the first time we use RCI to have reservation in a hotel to say our resort value is so low that we couldn't get any better.

Our trip this year to the WorldMark was all about exploring Balboa Park. The staff were very helpful with suggestions on places to eat and visit. The room was better than we anticipated. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans etc. The location was perfect for our week visiting the park. We were very pleased with the transportation options available in San Diego. If the weather was a little warmer the week holiday would have been perfect.

How low can you go and when you get there, can you rise to the occasion? The throne in our suite was one foot off the ground. I suggest changing the commode to suit the height of the average person and include a grab rail to provide added safety should the floor be slippery from a bath or shower. Otherwise, the staff members were attentive and accommodating and the resort, although small, was spotless.

The parking is a problem if you are staying more than one night you should not have to pay 30 dollars per night.

I would recommend the resort in spite of the parking issue. A suggestion I would make is to cap the parking at $30 if stay is over 1 night.

Is there an on and off trolley in the vicinity?
Answer from Carlton

Tourists need to be made aware that they will be taken advantage of. It is unacceptable to treat hotel patrons this way, especially ones from overseas. The “trick” I referred to above was the the villain on the front desk offering us a free breakfast at their sister hotel. I am from the UK and timeshare died out here in the 1980s. The fact that Worldmark employ people to take advantage of people is immoral and wrong and they should be ashamed, as should the above poster for not condemning this vile practice.

Not sure, but since valet is mandatory even for non handicapped I can't see why they would offer a discount. But good luck.
