The Newbury Guest House is a gem of a spot nestled in the heart of beautiful Back Bay with spectacular brownstones, restaurants and shops. The rooms are spacious and clean. The views are amazing. Delicious coffee in the morning and parking available on site. So much more fun than your average hotel experience. Next time you are in Boston treat yourself and stay here. You will not be disappointed.
We were supposed to stay at Newbury Guest House in April 2020 to tour colleges. Alas, there was a global pandemic. One year later, we decided that we needed to go. We stayed at the Newbury Guest House in late March and had an absolutely wonderful time. David is such an incredible host and was very communicative and answered all of our needs (I used to work at the Ritz Carlton so my standards are high, and David surpassed them all!) He placed us in a front room with a fireplace and a view of Newbury Street, which we all gazed at every moment we were in the room. Such fun people watching! David helped us with restaurants, with our room, and was a genuinely friendly and kind person. I really cannot say better things about him. Now. The location! Newbury Street is filled with shops and restaurants and is centrally located in Boston so that you can literally walk anywhere! We rarely found ourselves in an Uber. We took full advantage of nearby subways and explored the city on foot. Because of the pandemic, the hotel is not currently doing the all-inclusive breakfast, but there were plenty of options on the street nearby. The rooms were charming and clean. Newbury Guest House is the essence of a boutique hotel and oozes charm in every corner, whether the room, the hallways, the stairwells or the main lobby (with chess, magazines, games, etc) and a sweet little view of the street outside the huge bay window. And did I mention the coffee machine? Oh yes, there’s a fabulous coffee machine that makes on point lattes! We will definitely return to the Newbury Guest House next time we are in Boston, which I hope will be very, very soon! It is such a wonderful city and should be at the top of everyone’s list! Thank you, David, and all of the Newbury Guest House staff for such a wonderful stay! …
My wife and I were visiting family on the East Coast and decided to spend some time in Boston. The Newbury Guest House came highly recommended so we decided to stay there. Owner Dave was extremely helpful before and during our trip. The rooms were very clean, well appointed, and the location was convenient to points beyond the Back Bay. We stayed for 3 nights and Dave and his staff were very attentive, warm, and gracious. Whether on holiday or for business travel, I will definitely be back. Best small hotel experience I’ve had in many years.
We stayed there for one night in November. The hotel is extremely clean and located in a fun part of Boston. There are many restaurants with outdoor seating very close to the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms spotless . If you have a car, reserve a spot in the back.Highly recommend!! They took all Covid precautions . This will be the only hotel for us in Boston
I booked a "luxury double" through Expedia and thought I was getting the room depicted in the photo labeled "luxury double." Who wouldn't? The photo depicted a room with 2 floor to ceiling bay windows and a fireplace. However, the room we got was tiny space with an equally tiny window, not a bay window, and no fireplace. There was nothing "luxury" about it. While the hotel is generally nice (great breakfast) and I may stay there again, I give it poor marks for misleading advertising. I was told at the front desk that they only have ONE double room in the entire hotel that looks like this. So buyer beware, maybe you'll be lucky and get the one in the photo, but I wouldn't bet on it.
