Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in the Ray Charles cabin and it really exceeded expectations. Full kitchen to include a dishwasher (!!) and Dish Satellite TV for relaxing inside after being out on the water all day long. The staff at Cottonwood Camp are top notch and very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend staying here for anyone looking to do float fishing on the Big Horn.

The staff is great guides are spot on and willing to give put the info on the current river fishing conditions. We stayed in the Ray Charles cabin. It was fully outfitted with everything you need from shower to airfryer. The cabin was clean and beds were comfortable. All in all we'll worth the price and convenience to river access. Shuttle drivers were prompt and reliable. I have no problem issuing 5 stars!

The super kind staff here at Cottonwood took pity on my college field class when they saw it was so windy we couldn't even set up start our cooking stove let alone make a hot meal. They were incredibly generous and let us stay in one of their cabins. We were able to escape the whole storm! Extremely grateful!

Bathroom and showers were closed due to busted pipes.
Once opened there was no hot water and showers were not clean. Did not get the RV space that was promised. Grass was not mowed so could not use the picnic table or fire pit. Never saw the camp hosts and every time I went to the office/fly shop is was not open. RV site had the water on one side and electricity on the other. Will never return to this camp site!

Just got back from a 4 day stay at the camp. First, the scenery is gorgeous. It's peaceful and quiet. It's easy to unwind there. The cabin was clean and we had plenty of stuff in the kitchen to easily complete our meals and get them served up. Tisa and Jay were easy to work with and we enjoyed talking with them, and the fishing, was fun and successful enough to make us happy. Jay guided the less experienced of of our group and without his help, coaching and expertise, we would not caught as many fish. Good folks to work with, great place to fish and relax, just a great experience all around. Many in our group have taken multiple trips to the camp and I'm sure we'll be back again.

We stayed in our camper on this beautiful property. Clean, quiet and perfect location! My two boys loved the fishing! Rented a drift boat. The birds are amazing! Super nice staff, grounds well maintained. Full hookups and large trees provide shade. We will be back!

Our university field course showed up late one afternoon as a storm approached. So my students and I wondered where on Earth we'd be able to set up our tents in the sideways rain, nevermind cook dinner in the storm. Rita and Greg totally set us up and the students later commented how that evening had worked out so perfectly. Thank you!!!

This was a great hq for our visit to the Bighorn area. Nice park, friendly staff, convenient fly shop and excellent hookup facilities. We enjoyed our evenings looking out over the landscape, enjoying nature and relaxing. Access was easy in and out and staff were very welcoming.

Stayed at the camp with my camper for a week. Was there to fly fish the Bighorn River. The camp in under new owners and management. The hosts/caretakers Rita and Richard are excellent! Went out of their way to accommodate me and make my stay comfortable. Camp is clean and well maintained. Fly shop is surprisingly well stocked. They do have cabins as well. Easy access to the river. I definitely will return.

I first fished the Bighorn in the mid 80's ..........and still say it is one of the best trout streams in the lower 48........and Cottonwood Camp has always been my home away from home.........I always enjoy tent camping (except in mid winter) and really enjoy the comforts of the cleanliness of Cottonwood, the excellent shower and bathroom facilities, and for the most part the quiet evenings, only to hear the howls of coyotes, or the Pheasants crowing.........I was thrilled to meet the new owners in 2014 as I was concerned that Cottonwood Camp might be changed into a huge lodge and goodness knows we have enough of them already. Phil said he intended to keep Cottonwood Camp as it was known for while again making improvements and he certainly has. I hope I am around for the next thirty years.......Jim Henderson, Belgrade, MT

Response from Amy M, Owner at Cottonwood Camp
Responded 21 Oct 2015
Jim - thanks for your great approval to the young ownership of Cottonwood Camp! Your history at Cottonwood and your kind comments mean lots. We desire to keep Cottonwood Camp a true fishing camp while running the fine edge of continuing to make improvements. Some of the improvements can be seen while others are more procedural. We find that all of this is applicable and necessary to maintaining Cottonwood now and for the future. Have a great winter. See you in the spring!
