Nestled on a peaceful side street yet close to downtown attractions, The Gonzo Inn delights guests with its spacious, clean rooms, complete with patios and kitchenettes. While some travelers have expressed frustration over unexpected charges for the touted 'free breakfast' and pet fees, the hotel's staff wins accolades for their friendliness and service.
Reviewers often highlight the hotel's well-maintained amenities and the welcoming atmosphere that extends to four-legged guests, despite the discrepancies in advertised pet policies.

Hotel's Favourite
We really liked this hotel. We had a balcony that did not really overlook anything fantastic but it was nice to sit and enjoy coffee on the porch. We utilized the pool which was refreshing on a hot day. We also had a voucher to get food in the cafe downstiairs and it was really fresh and tasty and we loved the family owned vibe. Room was clean and cool decor. We liked being off the main path a tad also and could walk to the diner so easily!

Loved the pet friendly accommodations including an onsite dog park and a walking path. Dog treats and doggy clean-up bags were offered upon arrival and they gave us a list of dog friendly hiking options since Arches National Park does not allow dogs, even at the lookouts. The shower was huge. Bonus! And the Inn was quiet. We didn't use it, but there were good bike accommodations for cleaning and repair onsite.
We picked this hotel for the hot breakfast so we could fuel up pre-hike. Due to COVID-19, the hot breakfast was closed (no fault of the hotel's). We were offered discount vouchers to nearby restaurants, but the vouchers did not cover the cost of a restaurant meal. Had I known about that compromise, I would not have paid for the breakfast option and might have opted for a different hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are happy to hear you liked our Gonzo atmosphere. We are one of the few properties in Moab that is pet friendly. We take pride in providing our guests and their pets with a cool and different base of operations. We chose to do breakfast vouchers instead of not offering anything in hopes of helping out some other local small businesses. Hope to see you once Covid passes!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We stayed in a one bedroom king bed suite. We had a small "kitchen" area with a keurig, mini refrigerator, microwave, and sink. The kitchen had four sets of silverware, plates, bowls, and cups. It was a good size for us. The balcony was nice, we had a room on the backside of the inn that overlooked the creek that runs through town. The bathroom had a large shower (no tub). The toilet and shower had a separate door, so someone could get ready at the sink while another used the toilet/shower. The bathroom had one sink. There were two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living area. The location was excellent for us. After hiking we like to go out to eat/drink, and the inn was right in the middle of town, easy walking distance to several places to eat. For the national parks, it is about 15 minutes to Arches and 45 minutes to Canyonlands National Parks. Moab Adventure Center is also a block away that has several adventure excursions for any traveler. It was a great stay and amazing trip. Would stay again.

We have stayed numerous times at The Gonzo Inn. We really enjoy the staff, the location, and the quiet nature of the grounds surrounding the property, despite paying a premium price for a standard suite. Always a pleasure! However for this trip, we can only justify three stars due to the condition of the room. We understand that Covid-19 has changed practices regarding cleaning and room maintenance; however, our room was dirty upon arrival, so I don't know how it could be "sanitized". Bathroom sink was sticky with soap scum and bathroom floor was so dirty it soiled the white bath mat. We were provided with 1/3 roll of paper towels, one roll of cheap toilet paper, one little bottle of shampoo, and one small bar of bath soap. During our six-night stay, we had to ask for supplies almost daily, and they were dolled out in a very stingy fashion. You would think for several thousand dollars per stay, they would have at least scoured the room before our arrival and left it well stocked with supplies. In addition, our king-sized bed had big dips in it and was not comfortable to sleep on as the mattress in suite 103 needs replacing. Disappointing... we had a good time anyway, but feel management could do better for the price we paid.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. We are very sorry to hear that you didn't 100% enjoy your time with us. We always want our guests to feel at home and have a worry-free time with us and unfortunately, we failed this time. We do have all supplies including toilet paper and paper towels. Guests can request to have them delivered or pick them up at the front desk. We do ask the guest how many of each they would like instead of just handing you what we think you want. Guests who stay for multiple days are more than welcome to request multiples of each product and we can deliver that to them, instead of us overcrowding the room with supplies that they may not want or use. Guests may tell us at the time of booking as well and we can have the room stocked with what they would like for supplies. Our King beds do have a thick mattress topper on. Sometimes it just needs a good shaking or switched with a new one. If you come up and let us know the bed is uncomfortable we will come to your room and fix it for you. We really appreciate your feedback so that we can work on areas of improvement.

I was unsure whether to give Gonzo three or four stars; I wish there was a 3 1/2, but for reasons that will follow, I decided upon four.
Positives: The room for our three-night stay was clean, more than adequate for space with clean bathrooms and a spacious walk-in shower. The “Standard Room” video and photos on their web site are very accurate representations. The welcoming wine and chocolates made for a nice touch. Bed comfort and bath amenities were all fine. The downtown location is within easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops, not to mention the Moab Adventure Center where our Jeep rental was awaiting us.
Neutral: One of the clerks was exceptionally helpful in suggesting things like Jeep trails and restaurants; the others we encountered were certainly polite, albeit not as enthusiastically so.
Negatives: Thanks to a connecting door that clearly did not isolate sound, we could hear everything the guests next to us were saying, something we do not expect at this price point, even in pricey Moab. Then there was the breakfast service at their associated “trattoria” which could politely be called very slow. You order and provide your breakfast vouchers at the walk-up counter, then wait for your order. And, in our case, wait some more. And then still more. We and other guests had to wait more than 30 minutes for the food to arrive, and in the meantime, I had to go back to the counter to ask for coffee. Then I had to ask for cream. It was that kind of breakfast.
There are good reasons to consider the Gonzo Inn, and despite the negatives, I would not rule out staying here again. Perhaps the breakfast service has improved since May, but in our case, the overall experience was not as satisfactory as we had hoped for, especially at this price point. But three stars would not have been fair for the overall experience; Gonzo rated 3 1/2 for us, so we rounded up to four.

Chose a first floor suite with patio that opens onto a beautiful lawn - very comfortable Quiet, since it's a couple of blocks off the main street. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The kitchen is stocked with plates and utensils making it easy to dine in. Will stay again.

During our Colorado and East Utah road trip, we lodged at The Gonzo Inn for two nights during our first experience at Arches National Park. Liz at check-in was very friendly and informative. We spoke to two others at different times at the desk and they also had cheery dispositions. The location is great - you can walk to restaurants and shops easily including places accepting the breakfast coupons.
The staff and patrons wore masks and social distanced while in the lobby which was appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the bath amenity scents. We will choose to stay here again on our trip to visit Canyonlands in the future.

We stayed in the Gonzo suite, and loved it. 2 outdoor elevated patios to use, comfortable interior furniture, a wet bar with everything you need including bottle openers, and decore that fits the area perfectly. We walked to all restaurants (within 10 min), and ate most of our meals in the room because of the size of the dining room table. We will definitely be back!

The Gonzo Inn was the perfect place for us to stay. The staff even left a bottle of champagne in our room when we mentioned it was our anniversary! Room was beautiful with a nice view of a lawn in the backyard. The pool was great, too, and the location was very close to our tour company on the main road of Moab, as well as shops and restaurants and of course the National Parks. It was easy to change our reservation dates over the phone when we found out that Monument Valley was still closed. We would surely stay here again!

Our room was exceptionally clean with charming style. There was a generous abundance of pillows and the small hairdryer was powerful enough to dry my thick hair quickly. Every staff person, from desk to cleaning crew, was so friendly and inviting. On the grounds was a large patch of lawn for our little dog to chase ball and cool his belly. It was a short walk from the inn to Main Street downtown. Great location. Our room was a little noisy from neighbors the first night but quiet the second. Excellent value for a fair price.

Dogs are allowed in the common areas except the restaurant.
Gonzo Inn has patios, but those patios are open to the lawn area. Second floor patios are closed off.
Hi Paula, our parking lot does not have a large enough space for the Airstream... however we have street parking on a cul-de-sac along our property perfect for your trailer. We often have trailers who park there while they're staying at the Gonzo Inn to refresh in a larger space, do laundry, lounge by the pool, etc.
I hope this helps!
