The hotel has a great location for exploring fisherman’s wharf but not much else going for it. The amenity fee was expensive given there aren’t really any amenities, not even free WiFi that is fast enough to be useful.
We recently stayed here for 2 nights before moving onto Yosemeti The hotel is well situated in Fisherman’s Wharf - easy walk to the main sites in the area - Pier 39, Cable Car, Sea Lions to name a few. For a video review of our room, head over to You.Tube and search for ‘Tim and Matt’s Travel Reviews’ for this and many other hotel room reviews! We arrived early following a night at the RIU down the road. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly doorman who helped up with our bags. We were offered an early checking for free, however we were very early - 9am and they were able to accommodate us for $50 and even got an upgrade! The room itself had a fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Cable Car turning area. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the sound proofing was fantastic. We ate breakfast in their restaurant both morning - not the cheapest but good food to get you going for the day. I would stay here again for the location the breakfast, and the soundproofing all with great service.…
We loved the Argonaut. It is in a perfect location and is SO comfortable, just what we needed as travellers from the UK. The room was perfect, the beds were a dream and the bathroom was stunning. The whole hotel has such character...and the first thing you see as you walk out of the door is Alcatraz. And it's right next to the famous cable car. We'd love to return one day.
If you'd like to pay $700 / night and still feel like the hotel is is trying to squeeze every last dime out of you, stay here. Thoughtless room design, terrible restaurant. Lots of hidden fees. Please stay somewhere else.
This hotel has a fantastic location by the waterfront . Our rooms had wonderful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We had a twin room connecting with a suite which was perfect for family of 5. The suite is huge and our daughter slept on a sofa bed in the living area. The rooms were decorated tastefully and well equipped. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. It was expensive but worth it for the location.
This hotel is right on the Fisherman's Wharf. It has a lovely feel to it and staff are helpful. Very good restaurant too. We had a view our over the bay. Walking distance to Go Cars, Alcatraz tour, Pier 39, Cable Car (50 yards).
The Argonaut is just off Fisherman’s Wharf - perfect location for visitors. Great hotel with generous rooms. We had a room on the front with a direct view of Alcatraz. The sax player outside was atmospheric (and we could close the windows!!). Our only criticism was that we returned to the hotel for a nightcap in the comfy armchairs in the lounge/foyer to discover that the bar closed at 10pm, even for guests. This seems very early.
Clean, great location in Fisherman’s wharf. But it’s too pricey compared to other hotels. With resort fees (really?!) and taxes you can add 25% to the advertised rate. And $7 for water?? Really?? It’s clear the owners have lost the art of caring and are just thinking of the $$$
They say it’s only when you stop, that you see! So true in this case. I have lost count of the amount of times work took me to SF. But it is only now, that i am retired, that i can finally look. I am so grateful my eyes were opened for our return trip to the Argonaut. This has to be the best location on Fisherman’s Wharf. I felt i could actually reach out and touch The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz …. And it is certainly the friendliest hotel in SF (trust me i’ve stayed in many). So helpful, professional, warm. Our room was perfect; faultless. More importantly, some thing i value as i get older; I knew i was in safe hands. Recommends?? The crab chowder at The Blue Mermaid and of course sundaes at the iconic Ghiradelhi’s. If you visit SF head to the Argo’ you will not regret it.
Nice hotel in a central location. The room was great and spacious. Didn’t find the reception staff particularly friendly or welcoming but the guys on the door were friendly and helpful getting us taxis etc. The drink prices were shocking so found somewhere a bit cheaper for a few drinks.
