Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

King Suite - Mizzentop 4th Floor (room 403 I think). A very comfortable double room suite with plenty of space. The balcony gave us a superb view accross the Harbor and Islands. We were enjoying a driving holiday North along the coast from New York to Bar Harbor to see the autumnal colours in New England. The indoor pool and steam room was very relaxing after a day walking in the park. The delightful, friendly and helpfull staff made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Particularly the Reception staff who were welcoming and knowledgable. Particularly one lady who, aware I'd just had a knee replacement, stopped and picked us up as we walked back from Bar Harbor after a splendid dinner at the Veranda at Balance Rock in the town. Priceless customer care. Bill trowell was the icing on the cake. His piano playing and contact with the people in the Great Room were exceptionaly skilled. He played more than one piece as a welcome for my wife and I who were on holiday from England. Thankyou Bluenose Inn. If we return to New England we will stay again. Martin and Jenny

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed at this property about 10 years ago and decided to stay there again on our most recent trip to Bar Harbor. Everything about the Inn, the service, the condition of the property, the nightly piano entertainment in the Great Room, was outstanding. Although the Inn is a rather long walk to the village Bar Harbor, bus service is offered. This is an important perk as Bar Harbor is plagued by a scarcity of parking. You won't go wrong by staying at the Bluenose Inn

We stayed 4 nights in October. I would stay here again. The beds are comfortable, the shower was wonderful. We splurged for the 4th floor King suite. The place was extremely clean - there are crystal like light fixtures in the hallways and bathroom - and they were so clean. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful during our stay. The hotel has a really great gift shop so beware! The view was amazing - but the only downside is the street below the balcony - there is traffic noise when outside but we couldn't hear it inside the room.

This is a hotel more than an inn. Not located on the water, views were obstructed by trees across the road, decor was dated, closet was musty smelling and could not be used, parking is mostly on a hill, and the price paid was not worth it, no where close to it. On the plus side, the Human Touch massage chair like the one we have at home, beside the infrared fireplace was enjoyable, the bed was comfortable, and the location was very good.

We had a very lovely visit for our 40th Anniversary! The Manager Fred and his staff were very friendly and always ready to help. The decor made me feel like I was in an episode of Downton Abbey! So beautiful and comfortable! The deluxe king suite was so beautiful and the view was spectacular of the ocean and porcupine islands. It was so relaxing! Everything was spotlessly clean and the trip into Bar Harbor town is only 5 minutes away. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools and an exercise room too. There is a lounge and bar if you so choose. And a shuttle into town too! What more can I say! Don’t hesitate you will have an awesome vacation.I wish I could give it 10 stars!

This hotel is great! It is conveniently located on the main road into Bar Harbor and has great views of the harbor and Bar Island. The front desk staff was very courteous and there is a store in the lobby with great gifts and some food. Coffee and hot chocolate is available in the lobby 24/7. Our room was very spacious on the second floor and had a fireplace. We used the fireplace the first night but didn't need it after that (it was still nice to look at). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious.

This is an ideal place for a Bar Harbor getaway. It offers 4-star service but is an unassuming place. You can walk into downtown (I think it is LESS than a mile to most places) and it's a short drive to get to Acadia. There's a wonderful breakfast place right on-site--though you have to walk up a woodland path to get to it--plus unlimited free coffee in the morning, and a great bar for evening cocktails. Our room was a deluxe and quite large. While not very fancy, it did sport a fireplace and a massage chair, which got a lot of use after a full day of hiking! Comfy bed. Oh, and a balcony with a great view of Frenchman Bay. Every room reportedly faces the water.

This hotel was perfectly located for quiet, beautiful scenery and relaxation, but close enough to walk into Bar Harbor. We stayed in an ocean/harbor view room which was lovely. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony and looking at the sea and the island . The workout facility was good and clean. We did not use the pools but they looked nice. The blueberry pancakes at the Looking Glass were yummy ( and so was the mimosa). We also enjoyed the great room for cocktails and live piano music.

Room Tip: There is some steer parking in Bar Harbor but it is a busy town so we walked from the hotel.

Wow we stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved this inn. We decided to stay just out of town for more quiet. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking Frenchmans bay. WOW!!!! Incredible view. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable. There was a microwave, mini fridge and a kuerig with coffee all in our room. The staff was very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. Nancy was a true gem- loved our morning chats. This inn is so close to downtown -it’s almost walkable but we drove and always found parking. I would highly recommend Bluenose Inn

A simply wonderful experience! Old world charm. Literal keys are used to access your well apportioned room. Four poster beds; fire places; over stuffed chairs; double vanities; crystal lamps grace oversized rooms. Balconies face the harbor with the town on Bar Harbor to the right. 24-hour coffee bar and gift shop are welcomed amenities. The elegance of the property is emphasized with the Great Room and its nightly piano concerts. The same gentleman has been playing for nearly 20 years and has a repertoire that is only excelled by his skills. If you want the modernist of a chain look elsewhere. If you want a memorizable experience- make a reservation. A truly wonderful experience.
