I was looking for a cheap place to stay for my 4am to 3pm layover and thought this hotel was - at 59$ - a good option. Bad idea.
To confirm what was said before: yes, this hotel is a dump. everything is run down. EVERYTHING. Bed, linen, furniture, bathroom...
and it seems to be a "meeting place" for short time lovers...I had very noisy neighbours for some minutes. Surroundings is terrible: Massage places and bad food everywhere.

but hey, at 59$ it is probably still the best option for some cheap hours - bring earplugs and take a shower before you leave and you will be ok.

The room we got for the night was clean and huge, and didn't smell, contrary to what other reviewers have mentioned. Of course there's no view, it is located in a plaza. Conveniently located 15 minutes from the airport, it's ideal for overnight stays, and modestly priced. There were no unsavory characters at the hotel and we did NOT feel like we were in a red light district.

These other reviewers must have stayed in a "different" hotel.

Lobby staff was helpful and most friendly.

Would stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, the location is not good, you need to walk hundreds meters then cross the road, you can see the beach. The hotel have shuttle to pick you up in the airport, but no drop off, you need ask the front desk to call taxi to airport from the hotel.
if you can drive a car, then this budget hotel is convenience.

The person or persons writing positive reviews for this place must be the management because nobody would stay in this dump unless they were lied to as I was by reading some of the positive reviews prior to my stay. The place is a total dump with broken furniture seemingly ransacked from out of abandoned buildings. The rooms smell musty and moldy (I tried three before choosing one). The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from room to room and the noise in the hallway. Seedy criminal types hang around outside and in the lobby of the hotel. Working "buy me drink" girls are crawl like roaches along with their dirty patrons. Bugs infest the rooms and the hot water lasted about 2 minutes in the filthy bathroom. The wireless is super slow to the point it is easier to use the service downstairs. The staff was nice, but the owner and his son seem like they are squeezing every last penny out of a place in desperate need of either renovations or a wrecking ball. If I could rate this place a zero, I would.

If you're looking for a place to stay while visiting Guam, this is probably your best bet for a no frills economy hotel. It is located just across the street from the beach and also the Aluupang Beach club for a whole day of jet skiing and beach activities! Staff at the hotel were really friendly and very helpful. Helped make arrangements for the jet-ski reservations. Enjoyed a lot of my time just talking with them.

The room I stayed in was comfortable and furnished with your standard hotel furniture. It did have a refrigerator which was really nice to keep my drinks and snacks cold. And the TV, I didn't realize a hotel could have so many channels...and it's all free! I think they had about 60 channels or so! Not that you should spend your whole day in the room cause Guam has a lot to offer. I actually rented one of their cars at the hotel for a couple days just to drive around on my own. But even if you don't rent a car, you can always take the longer and sometimes more interesting route of the shopping buses. It takes you around the major cities(?) in Guam and stops off at the larger hotels and shopping centers. You can actually catch them across the street at the Aluupang Hotel there.

Overall, I had a great time in Guam and I was happy to have found a place that wasn't over $100 a night! I know I will return...

I was on Guam for 8 days. I read reviews both bad and good on this place. I rented the bigger room with the little kitchen. For staying 7 days or more I got a deal of $65 per night, taxes included. This is a budget motel and it was nicer than I expected. If you have a rental car (which I did) this a great hotel, if not you will be doing a lot of walking. You want a car anyway to see the nicer parts of the island.

During my trip to the Pacific Rim, I decided to visit Guam. I wasn't looking for a fancy hotel; I wanted a conveniently located hotel that didn't cost a lot of money and that had adequate accommodations. This hotel is by no means the Ritz Carlton but the rooms are large and clean, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I stayed for three days and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I read the negative reviews and totally disagree. It's crazy that our experiences could differ so much, but I highly recommend this hotel for the budget traveler.

I stayed at this hotel for a week in Jan 2009. It's a basic hotel, rather isolated. But if you're not a fussy traveller, then it's definitely a great deal for a reasonable price for budget-travellers like myself.

My room was clean, insect-free, with aircon, TV and small fridge. Quiet too.

The staff were friendly and gave me tips for where to go and what to see. There was free pick-up and drop-off at the airport.

The car rental was a great deal (cheaper than what the car rental companies quoted me). So although the hotel was not in the main tourist belt, I had no problem driving around all over Guam.
Really had a good time there, and I'll definitely stay there again next time...

I know.. should not be writing this.. but some have to be warned.
Most of the the reviews are old and outdated
Very run down. smelled like dirty dish towels through out the hotel. Rooms were as to be expected, small, but the beds were horrible! Would not even sit on the sofa.
Staff were very nice, friendly and very plesant. The locations was central so that was good. The people that hung around the lobby and outside were not. Actaully made be nervous. and were there at all hours of the morning. sleeping on the chairs in the lobby and drinking outside. Internet (WIFI) throught out hotel.. but very, very low signal!

Suggestions: Rip up the carpet and tile the whole place. NEW BEDS and sofas!
Get rid of the people hanging around the lobby. NEW TOWELS.

I have traveled to Guam several time in the last few months. Each time I visit, I make it a point to stay at the Tamuning Plaza Hotel. It is simply a "NO FRILLS" hotel service. I agree with another review I read here. I would rather spend my money away from the hotel rather than a place to sleep. I just can't imagine paying top dollar for a place that I'm only going to be at during the night. Sure, the hotel needs renovation and some upgrades. I spent about 4 weeks the first trip this year and 3 weeks the second trip. Each time I never had issues with the high speed internet service for my laptop. No noise. Very quiet. Airconditioned and daily maid service. What more could I ask for. I wouldn't recommend it for honeymooners or for those wanting high end resort amenities. But for those looking for a place to rest comfortably at night and reliable high speed internet, Tamuning Plaza Hotel would be my choice. I look forward staying there on my next trip.
