Detailed Reviews
Prior to moving off the island we needed a place to stay for a few nights after we moved out of our condo. The location was perfect because it was easy to access the freeway, close to lots of restaurants and gas, and best of all it was away from downtown traffic. If you want to go to some of the best beaches on the island they're just a couple of exits down the H1, and you don't have to worry about the crowds and always have free parking. Its also outside of traffic enough so you can drive up to the north shore with more ease and less traffic than if you were in Waikiki!
The entire team was the best part about the experience. Extremely hospitable, accommodating, and showed us true Aloha during a crazy time of transition for us. The managers Tiffany and Brian were especially accommodating and supportive and we will have to go back to see them asap! Front desk and housekeeping were also great.
The room was clean and had plenty of space for our toddler and dog to run around. The pool is probably one of the best pools on the island, great for families and kids. Overall the facility was just really well kept and clean and we never had any concerns with the pandemic going on, they were all really on top of safety!
I've stayed at probably 75-90% of all the resorts and hotels in the state of Hawaii due to my job, and this place will now be at the top of the list when considering where to stay the next time we go back to the islands.
If you want to feel the Aloha, then you want to stay at the Residence Inn Kapolei!

Stayed here primarily because it was outside of the city, and you wouldn't have to deal with the craziness that is of Waikiki and surrounding areas.
Lovely place, newly built, in a very quiet neighborhood. I have a room that directly faced the 901, but traffic noise was not a concern.
Service was brilliant, there were live music on specific days of the week.
Recommended.

I stayed here while my husband had surgery at Kaiser Moanalua...they let him out a day early ahead of our flight back home to Hilo. Very convenient location, in the heart of strip malls with lots of dining and shopping options. Just don't expect beachfront, this hotel could be Anywhere, USA. It seems to serve the vast amount of military awaiting housing or shipping out. Kalaeloa Beach is a short drive away, but not walking distance. Everything in the room and public areas were immaculate, especially important during COVID-ville. The only drawbacks are the tiny single-serve shampoo bottles - huge waste! I stayed at a Residence Inn in Seattle recently and they have shampoo and soap dispensers on the shower wall to reduce waste. This property should follow suit, Hawaii is besieged in plastic waste. Also, I had requested an early check in on my Marriott Bonvoy app, but was denied that convenience when checking in. That wasted time and miles that I could have been with my husband before his operation. Next time, I'll call the property directly. Otherwise, I am pleased with the property and would probably stay here again.

Mahalo for the review, I am so sorry that you were not able to get an early check in, but during the time you were with us, we were running an exceptionally high occupancy - nearly 95% which is why it was unavailable. You will be happy to know that Marriott recently switched distributors for all their bath and sundry items which is why we only had small bottles of shampoo and body wash. The new distributor assures us that the large bottles will soon be in stock and we will be back to the standard you are used to. We do our best to recycle and reuse and definitely living on an island makes us very sensitive to doing the right thing for the environment. Once again, mahalo for your feedback and we look forward to your return.

I have stayed here a few times and yet to get the option to review the hotel on the Marriott site.
I guess the manager doesn’t want any bad reviews.
The rooms used to be cleaned at least weekly but they have stopped that because of Covid or the manager is so mean they employees don’t stay to long.
They have a new trick to slam you with a $25 fee for Carbon Neutral which his a water bottle and a bag with there name on it.
There is only 1 good manager at the site you can get anything from. The 2 female ones are know to be quite rude and unhelpful.
Don’t expect Marriott status to matter here. The is no upgrades and trying to get a quite room is a big hassle
They charge for parking ($25) and you must show the card in the dash and don’t let move or the ink wear out. They will get you for $225 tow fee. And the tow people don’t check with the front desk before towing. You think you would get something for the parking fee.

Good:
The hotel is clean and in good condition but the efficiency do not have ovens. There is limited parking at the facility.
Poor:
They charged my coworkers room to my expired AMX and the hotel was no help figuring out how it happened. They said it was MY PROBLEM TO FIGURE OUT. This happened for 3 weeks with no help from them. My Admin figured out what was happening when my coworker got her bill. It took month to get this straightened out with no help at all from the Marriot.
They bill your card weekly but only send a bill if you ask for it.
They host Karaoke for the locals on Sunday in the breakfast rooms. It is quite loud and I am glad I am not on the first floor. As the noise can be heard though out the first floor.
Next and the final straw for me. They hosted a local event for Made in Hawaii that gave up ½ the parking up to Food trucks and other items. Then the guest of the events took over most of the other parking. Now the hotel was nice enough to provide us parking in a dirt parking lot. No mind you you pay $25 a day to park in the hotel and there guest are not paying anything.

My family and I have been affected by the pandemic, cancelled multiple trips, activities, and events. After being home for 9 months, we wanted to do something special together and decided to visit the Residence Inn. We were extremely nervous about this staycation, however I am SO glad we decided to come and stay. The beauty of the lobby, room, common areas, and parking lot are breathtaking. The facility was clean, warm and welcoming. The front desk staff, housekeeping team, and management team were very personable. The pool was a hit for my little one, and it was well maintained. The safety efforts were everywhere. They wow’d my children when they offered my son a signed card and box of chocolate for his 6th birthday. They impressed me when I received a follow call within 15 minutes of being in my room. I am sorry, I forgot his name, but the front desk agent who checked us in was so kind and helpful. They touched our little family when Tiffany (management team) came and kindly greeted each one of us upon our arrival. This property really offered us an escape and allowed us to create new memories. It was a much needed stress free stay. We highly recommend the residence stay inn. Thank you Paina & Tiffany! Your hospitality is the best! Kudos Brian, your team is wonderful! We will be back!

I cant tell you how happy I am to receive your feedback! Our Residence Inn team is the BEST! They treat everyone like family and I'm so glad you felt the aloha - especially considering what's going on globally! Our hotel is central to everything on the island and really is a great jumping off point for all the don't miss spots on island, if not, plenty of shopping, dining and our pool which gets plenty of sun all day long! I'm so glad your family got to reunite, reconnect and make some new memories! I will share your comments with the team and look forward to seeing you on your next trip! Happy Holidays!

Compared to most hotels, this facility is surprisingly clean. Housekeeping is limited, but that is less the responsibility of the local hotelier than it is of the various corporations taking advantage of Covid to reduce staff and service.
Most of the staff are polite, and the breakfast crew members are very friendly and patient. In that regard, be prepared to stand in line to be rationed servings of each item, but this probably reduces waste and contributes to reduce costs for the facility and guests.
There are expansive boulevards around the hotel for walking or running. I experienced none of the aggressive panhandling found in other urban settings from the many unfortunate homeless folks who sleep in the wooded areas around this hotel.
If you are here on business in Waikiki, this may not be the best choice for you, as the inadequate roads in and out of the area are crowded early and gridlock occurs with even a slight incident on the H-1. However, if I ever came back to Hawaii on holiday, I would be inclined to consider this relatively quiet hotel.

First let me say that this hotel is wonderful. For those staying here for business or for vacation. The pool is great for kids and is not very deep, and they play movies outside for them on Wednesdays at the pool on a outside projector. The bar area for the adults have something going on almost every night of the week. The front desk staff our above standards and always go out of their way to assist or help with anything affecting your stay. Tiana and Jasmine at the front desk have been outstanding on both of my business trips and made check in and out easy and painless. Whenever you need change for the laundry or getting a drink from the market they go out of their way to make you feel like part of the hotel family. The house keepers (Rodney) are very meticulous and always have my room looking great and smelling fresh and the extra pillows were a nice touch. Every night of the week there are food trucks that show up around 400 pm and hang out till about 900 pm to provide different culture dishes and deserts. you don't have to cook when you get of work, simply walk outside and pick a flavor of the night and everything if pretty low on cost. Starbucks Coffee is simply a 2 min walk away for fresh coffee and a gas station is close by for snacks. Traffic is very low in the area and its about a 30 min drive to Schofield Barracks or Waikiki. The breakfast here is ok and has hot items and fruit. the menu doesn't change really so if your staying here long term, the breakfast gets old after eating the same items everyday. I rate this hotel 5 of 5 and cant wait to come back here and stay again if i'm working on the island.

Let's start by saying "this hotel was brand new and beautiful with an absolutely class A staff"! We booked this X-mas vacation from Dec.24-Dec.31.
Our problems, however, started when myself and 2 daughters arrived from Seattle at 11:45pm and were told our reservation, for our entire stay, had been canceled. It was explained to us that the 3rd party entity (my daughter used her points from her Marriott credit card to pay for our stay) had canceled our reservation because there weren't enough points to cover the entire stay and our room would only be available for 3 nights before the next guest would arrive. The cost would be the regular rate for the room for the three nights and they would definitely work on this issue and try to have a resolution for us by the next morning. Kudos to the staff for even attempting to find a way to help us, as they are not liable for the actions of the 3rd party entity. By the 3rd night, we still had not found a solution and had to leave this beautiful place and its very polite and attentive staff.

All of the staff were friendly but Ronald, a housekeeper, provided outstanding service. We recently stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks and even on days he wasn't in our section of the hotel, he greeted us each time he saw us and provided us with anything we needed (extra garbage bags on the day we checked out, change of towels on days we didn't want full housekeeping service but needed towels, etc). He was cheerful and made our made us feel very welcome during our stay.
