I'm shocked by the negative reviews and imagine these folks know nothing of Hawaii or staying places out of "tourist cental", especially when it comes to the North Shore.

We used to live on the North Shore and came back for a vacation. Anyone, who thinks Turtle Bay comes anywhere near the pricing here has no idea what they are talking about, especially as this rental is walking distance to all of the best beaches on the island ( Waimea, Table Tops, Sharks Cove, Sunset, Pipeline) and has a grocery store next to it. This is the Northe Shore, there are not Hiltons up here, so yeah, a few ants may happen like in any apt up here.

When a Hilton does open up here ( Boo!!!) you are welcome to to pay $380 a night like Turtle Bay and still be a 15 to a minute drive from any of these famous beaches.

This is my 3rd time staying at The Cove, and my fiance’s First. I was hesitant to stay here again, because my friends, John and Wilma Lane no longer own the house. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the remodeling that had been done to the front house. It’s even nicer now, than it ever was. Great job, John. You always were amazing. The gal handling the house now, Natasha, went above and beyond her job, to make us feel comfortable, both on the phone before we got there, and then continually, once we arrived. I never stay anywhere else on the North Shore. You can walk across the street and snorkel in the cove. Lay in the sun on the small beach, or take a short walk to some great food trucks (affordable prices) or, walk to the grocery store and get some food to cook back in the kitchen at the house. We also appreciated the access to a washer/dryer. And as usual, close proximity to Sunset Beach, Waimea and Waimea Valley Falls Park. If you don’t have a car, you could easily get around on the bus, but it IS a bit slow. Haleiwa has grown, and the shopping is even greater than before. I enjoyed making friends with a couple of others staying at the house when we were. And the house kitties, Naila and Sunshine didn’t take long to cozy up to me and beg for massages. Wish we could have stayed longer. I recommend this place highly. You will not be disappointed.

Maybe I'm just tired and in a bad mood--grain of salt.

Got here after sundown. It was a little hard to find, and when I arrived, nobody was around. Fortunately, one of the other guests knew where they'd left an envelope. (I saw the sign in the daylight the next morning. Adding another notice on the main door would be helpful).

A small, clean room. Some small bugs around, but not harmful--I think that's just part of being in Hawaii.

The rooms don't seem to be insulated at all for noise, so you can hear other people (and they could hear me). There's just enough traffic to make it annoying, but not terrible.

Just down the street is Foodland, so convenient to get food/drinks etc. Right across from the cove. Good wifi as I write this.

Our entire experience was horrible. First, no one to welcome us when we arrived. Then the flat and the room were not even close to cleanish. At night, we banged our head in the metal and low mezzanine bed. The bathroom & kitchen were really dirty and missing basics products and dishes, such as salt, pans, etc... The wifi connection was extremely slow, when it worked at all. We wanted to leave sooner than expected (we stayed 1 night). The owner tried to make us pay many additional fees such as cleaning and the sum we had already paid to hostelworld.com. So we absolutely recommend not to get there.

no one was there when we turned up. never once saw the owners. we were paying in cash and had no idea who to pay as no one was there, ever. called the owner, no one picked up. waited around for 2 hours. no return call. called him again, finally he picked up. over charged us $30. tried to get a $5 discount because he was so unprofessional. wouldn't do anything just said leave the money in the envelope on bed. he doesn't realize we were being honest and trying to pay him, any other couple would've just run off and kept the money. so very unhappy as to how he dealt with everything, no apologies or anything on his behalf. all you are paying for is the location. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

Let me start off by saying that first time I stayed here (over a year ago) I wrote a review and it was totally accurate. I went back last August and things are not so good anymore. If you're 18-25 and living out of a backpack, it's perfect. If you are safety conscious, have valuables, like to use average appliances, don't like to share with bugs, and want some sort of management on the property, then go somewhere else. This property is situated directly on the highway across from Sharks Cove beach area...which is one of the areas hit regularly by Meth Addicts looking for loot to sell. Yes, this property has a stockade fence pull gate...but if it's left open (regularly) then what good does it do? Again, if you have nothing worth stealing, this place is perfect.

I stayed only because most other resorts were full and didn't want to fork out $250 for the Turtle Bay Resort, which I would have happily paid after staying here.

It was booked last minute the night before I arrived. The owner sold the place like a used car salesman. The aircon didn't work and was so loud it was impossible to sleep - didn't matter as the traffic will wake you anyway. Ants in bathroom. Cut my finger on the cracked taps. Not sure who to recommend it to as it was not cheap by comparison. The location is central, but noisy as it is on the main road. It is basically a hostel with a private room.

I booked for 3 nights, but after a terrible nights sleep, I had to get out of there. It became quite awkward as the owner's excuses were unacceptable. He initially refused to refund me for the nights I was not staying - even with broken aircon, pests, traffic noise and a pretty run down room, but I insisted and am still waiting for one night to be refunded.

The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and would caution other travellers to rather check the rooms out before you book. The additional funds may be better spent elsewhere.

We stayed here for 1 night to surf the north shore. The apartments are comfortable and roomy. There is a common area downstairs with a full kitchen and lounge room.

The manager was friendly and accommodating.

The location is great - across the road from
Shark cove snorkeling cove, and short drive to the surf breaks. There was a big supermarket a short walk away.

There were food trucks a short walk away which was perfect for dinner. Plenty of seating and a big screen set up playing the movie North shore which was cute.

I live in Town, so every once in a while I need an escape and Sharks Cove Rentals is the perfect getaway! There aren't a lot of affordable 1-night rental options on the North Shore (especially on the water), so these rentals are great! Across the street from incredible snorkeling/diving/beaching it, steps away from world famous food trucks and a few more steps to the convenience of Foodland and Coffee Bean! It has everything you need for a great escape :) The owners and staff are friendly and responsive and I HIGHLY recommend you splurge for room 100 - it has a huge lanai (balcony) that overlooks Sharks Cove and offers a beautiful sunrise and sunset. I will continue to visit this wonderful place :)

John the owner is absolutely fantastic, offered to pick us up from Waikiki when we realised we couldn't get our cases on the local bus. He gave us a great tour of the area and took us to the local for some food and drink.
The apartment was all we needed, clean and tidy, directly across from the beach, where we could snorkel and swim. We had a picnic in the park across the road and watched the sunset and the whales. Lovely area to go for a morning walk/ run.
The local food vans are relish which are 10m walk but theres also a supermarket 5min walk. Kitchen, lounge and TV area good to chill out after a long day at the beach. BBQ and veranda with a view.
Bus stop directly outside, although we hitchhiked a little and made some friends with the locals.
Overall a fabulous stay at Shark Cove Rentals.
No complaints !!!
