Detailed Reviews

Owners were accommodating which made our first trip to Maui very memorable. Had a good opportunity to get to know the other guests and Apartment Hotel which is close to other beaches and only a short distance from the major shopping centres. We would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from our annual visit to Maui--six weeks this time. If it were not for the Hale Maui, we would not be able to afford such a nice, long vacation. The Hale Maui is everything that we need and want on our Maui vacations. The units are clean and efficent. From the outdoor balcony, we were able to "skype" with our grandkids so they could see the whales jumping in the ocean. The Zimmerman family are wonderful hosts!

We had a wonderful time and were very happy about our stay at Hale Maui. Perfect location, nice little private beach, great communication with the owners. The apartment was clean and very suitable for a small family. Highly recommended.

We had an awful experience due to our room's location which is right next to a busy road. They don't have AC, which really isn't needed, BUT that means your windows must be open. The noise was incessant throughout the night. It was very difficult to sleep. If you consider staying here - I highly recommend you make sure you're not on the road.

I stayed with my husband on our honeymoon and we had a very clean, quiet and cosy apartment. The owners were really helpful and sweet. We did however feel mislead by the photos on the website - the apartments are not beachfront - you have to walk down a path to the beach, and the beach itself was tiny - had very little sand for sitting on - for the duration of our stay there was no beach really, maybe if the tide is out you can lie on the beach but we didn't get to. The sea was good for swimming but we couldn't laze about on the beach which is what we booked the hotel for - the photos made it look like you can just roll out of bed and onto the sand or garden - the garden is made to look like it faces the beach but actually this belongs to the apartments next door.
The price compared to most other places was very good though so if you are prepared to drive down the road for a day at the beach then this is ideal. Also the Farmer's Market over the road does great banana bread and coffee.

The owners of this family run property were very pleasant. Marika responded promptly to any email or phone call inquiry. I appreciated their professionalism. They are a very nice family. Hans was very polite upon check in, and Marika sent updates via email on the improvements, rate changes, etc. regarding their property to those who are booked to stay at their accommodation. It was a first trip to Maui for my son and I, and we appreciated the value, as many resort accommodations are very pricey in Maui. It met our needs very well. We were able to cook our meals in the full kitchen, which helped our budget. The beds were comfortable, the apartment was very clean, and we liked the convenience of the central location. There is a market close by, the parking is free, and you can walk a short distance to a small swimming beach, or the park nearby. The only possible negative thing would be the noise coming from the street, such as car/motorcyle traffic, but we did not stay in our apartment much, as there is so much to see and explore on the island. We recommend this accommodation to anyone who is trying to budget their trip on a beautiful island that is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment. We should mention that we travelled in peak season.

Hale Maui was a very clean older hotel with a private beach which we could see from our balcony. We could also see a sea turtle swimming in the swells on our beach, so graceful and beautiful. It had a full kitchen and was walking distance to farmers market and some great little shops. There were beach chairs and water gear available (for free) and no resort or parking fees. We always prefer smaller privately owned hotels or bed/breakfast when we travel. You do need to launder towels yourself as there is not a daily maid service. This met our needs nicely.

I can't say enough good things about the staff at this place. They answer emails in a flash. They are super friendly and responsive. This place is the perfect home base for travelers that just need a place to sleep, cook a few meals and then get out and see Maui. Hale Maui is for the adventurers!

The Hale Maui was immaculate with everything anyone would need. The apartments are quiet, cozy and affordable in a great location. The Hale Maui is mere seconds away from the ocean after a walk down a nice garden path to the beach where you can swim, snorkel, watch whales and turtles or a gorgeous sunset! A couple of farmers markets and delis, a beach park and coffee shop are within a few minutes walk. The family atmosphere and hospitality provided by the ownews only adds to the positive attributes of the Hale Maui. We hope to return soon!

We just came back from 5 nights at the Hale Maui and had a wonderful time. Marika, the manager, was very friendly and always available to answer questions or make great suggestions for restaurants and activities. The unit we rented was very clean and functional. We enjoyed the location with a selection of beaches less than 15 minutes away and even one right by the condo. It is also very close to Lahaina, where we went almost every night for a walk downtown, shop and have dinner. To resume our stay at Hale Maui: great location, very friendly owners, clean and good price for all you get. Simply wonderful!!!
Thanks again Marika for a wonderful vacation we will always remember. If we go back to Maui, we will surely go back to the Hale Maui.
