Aston At The Maui Banyan has earned praise for its prime location near the beach with ocean views and walkability, as well as useful amenities like full kitchens and pools. However, guests have called out the additional high cleaning fees and the absence of daily housekeeping, which have led to mixed feelings about the hotel's value and overall service.
While the atmosphere and room decor are considered outdated by some, the general cleanliness of the rooms is acknowledged positively.

Property's Favourite Review
We had a large one-bedroom condo and were very happy with our stay. It was clean, close to the beach and had a view of the water. We paid extra for an ocean view. The property is set back a bit from the road and the water so we weren't sure how much we would see. But we were on the 4th floor and our balcony was better than expected. We could hear the ocean at night!

Stayed at the Maui Banyan on a recent Maui vacation. The location is great, but the condo accomodation is really hit and miss. We were in a one bedroom deluxe, and although renovated did not live up to the over $300/night cost. The bed was poor quality with no duvet, just a couple of old school blankets in the closet. The lanai is extremely narrow and you risk tripping off the 6 inch ledge as we were on the ground floor. The condo could have been a little cleaner as the floor seemed dirty, and the housekeeping service was minimal. You have to pay a resort fee which includes stuff no one really uses, like dvd rentals. We are not living in the nineties! The pool was nice, location to beach is great, but not necessarily worth the price they are charging.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I‘ve been there for 4 nights. The appartement (507) was very open, well structured and had enough space. The balcony was a little bit too snall for me. The kitchen was very good equipped, so I was able to prepare any kind of food. It was really clean, but you could see, that the appartement has come into it‘s years. One point that really was uncomfortable - was that this building was a no smoking area. I had to walk really far to go to the smoking area. That was really bad!

The location is great! The beach across the street is nice and there's good snorkeling out by the rocks. It was awesome to get there in a 3 minute walk, and there are also several shops and restaurants within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed for a short stay. There was no daily housekeeping service, but they left plenty of towels (and a couple for the beach, too) and coffee supplies for the amount of days we stayed. However, the price was more than what I would have normally paid for a property like this. I understand we traveled during the holidays and booked only a few weeks before so that's to be expected, but in the future I feel like we could find a more affordable place with comparable location and amenities.

The staff here go out of there way to ensure customers are comfortable and happy. The rooms are clean and have everything you need for a fantastic stay. We had a two bedroom with washer/dryer, TV sets in every room, and ice maker in full size refrigerator. Customer service is definitely 5 star, the front desk personnel should be commended

We checked in yesterday and have already started looking at other places for us to move. The pictures online are very nice but each unit is individually owned so you don't really know what you're going to get. (We were in P407) I wish I had seen pictures of this unit beforehand. The kitchen appliances are older and the refrigerator did not cool our water even though our food was in overnight. The bathroom is very dark and the toilet clogged. We had to use the pool bathroom until maintenance came in for their shift at 10 am. We had booked a one bedroom suite but the room was separated from the living room by pocket doors with frosted glass which you could see through. The pocket doors were off track so there was a one inch gap between doors. This did not allow us privacy we were hoping for from booking a one bedroom. The unit was advertised as having air conditioning but only had one window unit in the living room and it did not cool off that room very well much less the bedroom. The last straw was after taking a shower, I walked from the bathroom to the bedroom and my feet were filthy! I know that I washed them so that was when we decided to try to move. Because it's not a true hotel set up, management had gone home for the day. The next morning I went to speak to the front desk people who were very nice and understanding but because they were booked up, they could not help us with changing to a different unit. Our experience was just sad and disappointing . If you think about booking here, ask lots of questions about the accommodations first!

On the day of our check in, we got in early, so I called the hotel around 1:30 and asked if we could check in early. The front desk worker told me my room wasn’t ready but that I could come down to the hotel and register for early check in. I got to the hotel a little after 2 and signed all of my papers and my room wasn’t ready so the worker told me I could wait and she’d call me when it was. The call never came so I just checked in at 4 pm. I got to my room at 4:12 pm and it was still being cleaned. Everything in the room seemed okay until we noticed that there was only an AC and ceiling fan in the living room area and neither in the bedroom. The ceiling of the bedroom had holes where it appeared to have had a fan once but it was no longer there. We were hoping that the AC would be cool enough to reach the bedroom. However, it wasn’t. The AC never really got cold, even in the living room. It was quite hot and uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. Another problem we had was that we were assigned a building with no elevator, which was not advertised on the website neither were we told about when we checked in. The day of check in, my daughter tripped going down the stairs. Luckily, I caught her. The hotel texted me that day asking if I needed anything and I asked if there was an elevator to my building because my daughter tripped. The worker just replied no. No offer to move us to a building where my 5 year old wouldn’t have to be going up and down the stairs for safety purposes. The reason I chose a suite here was for the ability to wash and dry clothing while we were there. The washer worked well, no problems there. However, the dryer vents were rusty so our clothes would get snagged while drying. The one thing my family did enjoy here was the pool and jacuzzi. My kids especially enjoyed having a pool downstairs. Overall, I feel like our experience could have been a lot better. I would choose a different hotel the next time we go to Maui.

I came to Maui from Oahu and expected the Waikiki experience (loud, bustling, crowded, no parking, etc.) but the Aston at Maui Banyan was completely different. First, the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. They upgraded my room to a King Deluxe Garden View (originally, we would have had a view of the parking lot). Parking! You get a parking pass plus there’s plenty more places to park. They also have convenient benches/tables for smokers and thinkers. The room was more than I could hope for; clean, modern, and it maintained the Hawaiian vibe. The view of the garden was gorgeous. We could see the ocean from the balcony. Location!! The beach is very close (across the street!) and a plethora of quaint souvenir stores and boutiques in both directions. Restaurants, shave ice, and food trucks nearby. The first 2 of our 5 days stay I spent sick in bed - a very cozy bed that you should make yourself. If you didn’t see the disclaimer, you have to pay housekeeping fees if you forget to put your “don’t bother me” card on the doorknob. But don’t worry, they only come once during your stay. You can always ask for more towels, linens, soap, etc. at the front desk. The grounds were well maintained and clean. You can use the grills in the pool areas. It’s a good way to save money and not eat out at restaurants and trucks your whole stay. Most of the food on Maui and other islands is $15+ a plate. You’re still supporting local businesses if you buy groceries from locally owned stores. Walmart is close though, if you need something on the fly. The Maui Banyon’s location is perfect. We walked to the ocean every night to watch the ethereal Maui sunset. The Maui Banyon impressed me so much, I was ready to book my next stay on the first day! I would literally live there if I could. I can’t wait to go back!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Maui Banyan. The 2 bedrooms were very spacious and clean. The kitchen was large and supplied with dishes, silverware and pots and pans. A washer and dryer was included and desperately needed since we had 2 teenagers. The room’s balcony had a partial ocean view and the beach was right across the street.
Access to stores and restaurants was right up the block. I do recommend the Maui Banyan. We were very comfortable and extremely pleased with the location and access to the beach.

Not a hotel, but studios or apartments. We, in particular, had a room with a large and comfortable double bed, reading corner, dressing room with sink and bathroom with toilet and shower.
The adequately sized room was equipped with a coffee machine, microwave, refrigerator and a small balcony with a table and chairs.
In the room there is also an ironing board with iron and safe and, in addition to the courtesy set of bath towels, pool towels are also provided.
The structure has a nice garden and two small swimming pools, as well as very convenient free parking.
Daily cleaning services are not provided, but room tidying is offered every four days. However, you can contact reception if you need additional towels.
It should be noted that the reception is open from 9 in the morning to 9 in the evening.
The beach is across the street, so it's within walking distance.
Overall, a good structure, albeit simple, with good value for money, considering what the island offers which, in general, is quite expensive when it comes to hotel accommodation.
Khiei, in any case, being in a central position, is very convenient for excursions and reaching the various locations on the island.

Sorry I do not know. There was none when we were there Jan 21-26, 2020. We used our air conditioner most all of the time, so I suppose you could block out the noise if you needed to.
There is a front desk open at that time, but because many units are combination code locks, your condo owner will probably tell you the details to access the room without needing the front desk.
Wall Units and it stayed fairly cool - a little stuffy in the evening.
