Missing hospitality and the aloha spirit. Horrible hotel. The rooms are ugly and not clean. They don’t even offer water, the most basic thing hospitality should do. They “gift” some guest water bottles to fill but the machine expresses the water 1/2 oz a minute. I had to go To the store for water Also stingy with Platinum elite upgrade. Leaving early

What a great location for a resort with many amenities. We enjoyed an ocean front view with a nice patio. The grounds were always clean and everything we encountered was well maintained. Had drinks at the bar several nights and enjoyed taco Tuesday. Room was in excellent condition. A-Beach in front of hotel is excellent with lots of turtles spotted while snorkeling in front of Lava Lava area. This is definitely a family friendly and couples friendly resort with stuff for everyone to do. Staff was all very friendly and made this an excellent birthday trip for my stay here.

This is a great, gorgeous property whether you stay on the vacation club side or the hotel side. We’ve done both and thoroughly enjoyed the ocean front facility and amenities! Big shout out to Elizabeth at the front desk, Lovely in housekeeping and Peter M. and Eddie at the bar who made the best drinks and made sure our kids were taken care of! Their service was top-notch and we can’t wait to come back! Mahalo!

First do NOT pay any extra for a king room with a pool view. The design is just the worst. We had two rooms booked a king room with the pool view and a double room with the pool view. Both rooms have angled sliding doors that face out to the pool and beach. The double room is great, you can see the pool and even some of the beach from the bed and from the seating area. The king room is the complete opposite. The bed faces the door from an angle so you see other balconies with their towels and clothes drying and the seating area faces the tv and dresser completely. To have a view you can either sit on the dresser (who planned this?) or move the desk chair next to the dresser. Additionally, in the double room, traditional beds and nightstands. In the king room the bed is on a platform that pushes it So that your head is on the pillow about 28 inches from the wall. However, the nightstands are still anchored to the wall. This means that if you need to see the clock, reach for your phone or the house phone, reach the light switch or anything on the nightstand you need to get OUT of bed and turn around to reach behind you-and the clock is anchored so it cannot be moved to the dresser, what a pain! We have just finished stays at 2 other Marriott properties on the islands and this has been the least welcoming and flexible for activities. There is a QR code to sign up for activities however more than half are full for the next 5-6 days, again no problems, at all, like this even at the very large Ko’Olina. As Platinum members we were given our options of points, breakfast, credits etc. at the other properties. Here, nothing, no mention of it. When we went to breakfast to the advertised “Platinum pricing” we were told we should have received vouchers upon check in. There was no line when we went to check in, as it was late, so I do not know why we were not given this information. This was the final stay of our once in a lifetime trip to the islands, where we wanted to relax and just enjoy a resort before our 2 day trip home. I certainly hope it gets better. If I knew then what I knew now, I probably would have ended at the Courtyard King Kamehameha (where we were absolutely spoiled) or the very welcoming Ko’Olina Resort.

The Marriott vacation club at Waikoloa provides the kind of experience that someone would expect any mid range vacation property offered through Marriott. Service was very high-quality, the prices were moderate to high, and the grounds were very well-maintained. The interior of the hotel showed some where in tear on the carpet and walls, and some minor improvements, such as the provision of more freshwater rinse stations between the beach in the hotel, as well as better access to parking with more organized signage, could make this hotel much more organized, and frankly, keep some sand off the interior property. The location was excellent, although the surrounding amenities and store availabilities were somewhat boutique and thereby limited for longer stays or for practical, alternative food or emergency supply requirements. Access to the airport in traffic to this resort was excellent: even the configuration of the recreational areas made it easy to enjoy the property when the ocean was a bit angrier, or storms appeared over the island. We will definitely return to this resort, and bring our friends and family here!

Just finished a week at this beautify place for the firs time and I would highly recommend it. Traveled with my daughter of 6 months and the staff couldn't have been better. We had an ocean view, 2 beds and asked for a crib, which came in very handy. Location - Excellent if you're planning on not going very far. We did the half circle down to the volcano and over to Hilo and then across in about 6 hours with multiple stops. I'd recommend not doing that. Another day we did Hilo which is about 1hr from the resort, which is high recommended. There are plenty of food options outside of the lone restaurant in walking distance. Just note, make reservations ahead of time anywhere you plan on going, everyone seems to be short-staffed and getting a larger group to sit together could be a challenge. Pool/Beach - Pools are awesome, very family/kid friendly. Open early (7am I believe) and close at 11pm, so if you're trying to swim all day, you literally can. Drinks/Food are offered by the pool along with towel service. There is a luau there a few times a week, if you're by the pool, you'll catch it for free. The beach is right there as well, lawn chairs provided and cabana's for rent if needed. Rooms - They seem updated and top notch for me. Everything was modern and clean. We had an AC issue our second night but it was attended to and fixed while we were out, staff downstairs was quick and happy to help. Parking - Just did self-parking, very easy and right next to the resort, you're don't have to walk miles. Overall, 10/10 in my book. Great time, happy employees make a huge difference, and I did notice that everyone that attended us was happy to do so. Great work!

This is our 3rd time staying here. We know the property quite well. Overall it is a good hotel, great location walking distance to everything and right on the beach. I would recommend this hotel to those who want a more relaxing atmosphere compared to the Hilton which is the only other full service hotel in Waikoloa. My only complaint is the lack of shade around the pool. There are maybe max 8 palapas around the pool. All Other beach loungers do not have shade. We are not ones to lounge in the direct sun (too hot and hello skin cancer not to mention premature aging). It’s impossible to get one of these palapas for shade, your other option is to rent one of their cabana things which are pretty pricy. One of the mornings we moved the loungers to a grassy area behind the kids pool. There are bigger trees there providing shade (we have done this before on prior stays with no problems). Someone then tells us we have to move because there will be a luau there tomorrow evening . TOMORROW evening! but we have to move today. Apparently they need to check some things on the ground. Okay so we move to the lawn area behind the infinity pool. We take the back row of loungers on the grass and move them further back on the grass closer to the hotel Building where there is shade. Then we are told By someone else that the loungers are not allowed to be on THAT part of the grass. There are no signs or anything to tell You this. We don’t mind having to move but at least tell us where we can go! 3 rows of loungers and not any umbrellas for any of them. The staff we spoke to was apologetic and said it was a frequent complaint of guests that they need more shade/umbrellas They said they would reiterate to their GM. well if the GM is reading this pls do so. We are platinum Marriott members and come often to the big island. Pls don’t let your guests roast in the sun and get carcinoma!

We have been here a few times and the only downside was the gym - a lot of the equipment either didn’t work or the buttons got stuck (could be dangerous especially on a treadmill), little air circulating and the ellipticals all face a blank wall - please turn them around so u can enjoy the view while exercising- may need cord extensions but so worth it as the tv’s don’t work that well. The hotel is very easy and comfortable and, even though it was relatively busy, we were able to sunbathe where we wanted too. Staff excellent and helpful. The beds are great and much appreciated who like firm mattresses. Housekeepers are extremely busy and missed our room first day but after we spoke to Christopher, it never was again - thank you!! The hotel is situated close to the kings and queens shops which is great for shopping/food markets and restaurants.

We just left after staying here for a week. It's a beautiful property, we had an amazing time. We stayed on the timeshare side and had a great view! The pools were fun, the slide was great and the service was good as well! Mason at the pool was fabulous and made the pool time so much fun for our daughter. His energy and enthusiasm during the slide races was awesome!! The cons, the beds and pillows need improvement and new ones, the tables down by the pool need to be cleaned off daily and we wish there were more activities. Also the beach isn't the best of beaches. Luckily there are some great soft sand beaches in close driving distance. All in all we had a great time!

We stayed 5 nights at the Westin up the road and then went to Hilo and ended up back at the Marriott for the last 2 nights before flying home. If we had not stayed at the other property we would probably have thought this one was just great, but being able to compare the 2, I would choose the other one as a family with older children. The grounds are very pretty, the pools are nice, but there is no family pool. The sunsets here are amazing and picture perfect both nights we were there. We were upgraded to a larger corner room with 2 king beds (no couch- just 2 chairs) which was a nice amount of space, but not all that great of a view. The balcony is pretty small. The food and drinks from the pool area are great and the bar tender, I think his name was Chad, has been there almost 30 years he said and is very friendly, laid back, happy to offer opinions and ideas of things to do. We liked having an option to go to the bar after dinner. The things I liked better at the other property were fresh flower lei vs shell leis (which we left in the room), much larger balcony, better snorkeling off the beach, better workout facilities, an adult pool and option for a grab and go continental breakfast. They had Water stations by the pool here, but not as many or as easy to spot. It is still a solid 4 resort, especially for families. They have the Luau on site, it was going on as we were checking in, it is smaller than the Marriott one we went to in Maui a few years ago, we could see the performers as we were walking around the property to get a lay of the land and they seemed to be wowing the audience. I also do not like the towel cards and the breakfast cards and having to present a resort card to get a discount, we are staying at a resort that is quite expensive, do you really think we will walk off with a hotel beach towel? The biggest draw is the location because it is located by the kings and queens shops which gives you a lot of options for dinner, shopping, a movie theater, shave ice etc just a few minute walk away.
