What made this one stand out however was the people. EVERY employee was extremely personable and helpful and you could tell wanted to make your stay the best it could be.
A special shout out Cejae. She went above and beyond to make my stay the best it could be.
We had a room on the second floor near the elevator, it had a view of a wall so the room was very dark which it made it seem small.
Breakfast during the Covid was extremely limited with just grab and go bags available, that was a bit disappointing especially since we had just stayed at another Hampton Inn in La Crosse,WI that had breakfast sandwiches and lots of other options available. It's really hit or miss for breakfast depending on which Hampton Inn you stay at during this time with the Covid situation.
This hotel does not have a guest laundry so if you have clothes to wash you will need to find a laundromat in the area.
Applebee's restaurant is within walking distance so we had takeout from there for dinner.
I know help is short everywhere right now but if I’m spending a couple hundred dollars on a very basic hotel room, I definitely expect clean, hair-free sheets. Due to the fact that we had booked the last double queen room and the fact I wanted my children to get to sleep, I didn’t make a big deal about it. Just didn’t sleep all night thinking about it.
The pool was also very small. When my children saw how many kids were in it they didn’t have any interest.
Every employee we encountered was very friendly and accommodating.
Great thing is it is not far from Mullins Cheese Factory, worth a trip to their store
The staff is great and was extremely helpful, we kept having trouble with our room keys and they worked really hard to get the issue resolved.
We ended up getting the corner room on the second floor which is an ADA compliant room so it is very large. The only downside is that the room is on the second floor and there is no privacy screen on the window so you have to close the blinds (which makes the room really dark) or people are able to see right into the room from the outside.
We were disappointed that there was no microwave in the room so you have to go down to the lobby to heat food up.
The breakfast selection is still really limited compared to other hotels which is really surprising since most other hotels have been able to adapt with the covid situation.
They don't have any types of breakfast sandwiches or hot meal options, just grab and go muffins and stuff so we ended up heading to McDonalds to get breakfast.
Overall, we normally would always stay at this hotel but we will probably look at some other options the next time we go to Wausau so we can get a better breakfast and maybe a microwave in the room.
My wife and I, were returning from a trip to the Apostle Islands. Next time a stay is required in Wausau, we will book this Hampton.
