Hotel's Favourite
Beautiful facility, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast buffet including smoked salmon; inviting view of Granite Peak ski slopes or the view of the city of Wausau; and 8 Tesla Supercharges conveniently onsite. Two outdoor faux igloos for year-round enjoyment. The flowers in the parking lot islands in the summer are breathtaking!!! Loved the stay!!! A bit pricey for my budget, but will definitely return given the opportunity.

I’ve been staying here for years and it is still a gorgeous hotel, but the restaurant has taken a major downturn. Clearly there is no longer a culinary chef and instead just a “cook”. I’m still giving the hotel good marks and would stay here again, but I will no longer waste any money at the restaurant. (I feel a little bad about this as I used to RAVE about the food here.)
Pros:
* Gorgeous building
* Fabulous rooms: large, clean; spacious
* Pool: super big with a fabulous hot tub and separate child’s pool. You can access the outside and sit at chairs and tables from the pool as well.
* Self laundry: $1.50 gets you a full size wash & dry. Very convenient for extended stays.
* lovely front desk staff
* Dining area remodel: Beautiful. Much more in keeping with the northern Wisconsin woods. Gone is the wide open area and instead there are little booths and nooks to sit in.
Cons:
* Food service: It’s a cross between a traditional Garden Inn and a Hampton Inn. Breakfast is completely self-serve beverages, foods under heat lamps and cheap breads and cheap cereals. The yogurt is also cheap. There is a fruit bowl that is respectable and the Kringle is excellent. The heat lamp items are clearly put in there at 6 am and if the crowd is sparse that morning you’re eating that same food at 8 am. It’s tepid to cold and in the case of the potatoes greasy and falling apart. You can order a few made to order items, but its only an egg or pancake. When it’s delivered you still have to get up and get your own butter or syrup. Lots of serving staff standing around and a number of them on their cell phones while you serve yourself. Of course a tip is still expected when you get your bill. Long gone is the chef inspired breakfast menu with avocado toast etc. Tried the food again at dinner thinking perhaps it’s just the morning food that is lame. The evening food is OK, but nothing special. Once again….that true “chef inspired” menu is gone. You can get the same sort of foods down the road at a cheaper price. I’d suggest taking a short ride to downtown Wausau where you’ll find some wonderful dining.

We arrived at about 5 pm to an empty parking lot. Remarkably, we were greeted shortly after stepping inside. I asked if we were the only guests and was advised there were five more rooms booked for the evening. I never saw anyone else though and when we left at 8 am were still the only car in the parking lot.
Our check-in was friendly and efficient. We had dining options explained (all room services) and provided with disposable abbreviated menus.
Our upgraded room was spotless and comfortable. We couldn't pass up dinner and were pleased with its preparation. We breakfast was also good and arrived right on time. I was slightly surprised that the delivery staff failed to wear masks.
Our room overlooked the "mountain" and US-51. If you have difficulty sleeping, I'd suggest the "city view" instead as we did hear the traffic (which didn't bother us at all).
I'm very much looking forward to staying at this property again.

Was there for a weekend and had a pretty good experience. Room was nice. Ten foot ceilings make it look bigger than it is. The sunshade is top notch, blacking out all of the light. Beds are very comfortable. Shower shoots a ton of water out and has a fancy cut floor drain. K-Cup coffee in room with a microwave and mini-fridge make for a great room. Very nice hotel.
My nit picks here are as follows: Reservation was made for three people and they left exactly three towels in the room. They also only left us two paper cups - nothing else to drink out of. The comforter on the bed is less than 6' in length. When it was at my shoulder, my feet were exposed. Weird. And because of the onsite restaurant, there is no breakfast. You are better served paying less for the Hampton close by and getting your coffee and oatmeal there ;)

Recently renovated, this Hilton has very appealing decor thru out. The lobby’s welcoming, spacious and comfortable w/large fireplace and the most well stocked, efficient “Shop” for a large selection of snacks, microwave Stouffer foods and travel necessities you could want. Rooms are spotless, well appointed and beds very comfortable. Bathrooms have good lighting, xtra hooks & towel bars for both guests, and a spacious counter (1 sink) and strong (water) shower.
The Van Acre Restaurant is a great breakfast & dinner spot.
We’ll be back!

I stay in hotels all across the United States roughly 100+ nights per year.I am partial to Hilton properties and a Hilton Honors member (in full disclosure). I'm not exaggerating when I state this is the nicest Hilton property I've stayed at (Waldorf's excluded) in the United States. Only two years old, floor to ceiling windows in the rooms (try to get a corner room), Multiple indoor and outdoor fireplaces, great meeting rooms, restaurant, bar, indoor pool, and a great workout room.

Very clean, friendly staff, and great drink and dinner menu. Check-in and out was very quick, that was very much appreciated as I had been flying all day and had a full day of flying ahead of me at check-out. Would recommend over all other hotels in the area.

My family recently spent a night at this hotel and we were all amazed! The grounds were impressive with the colorful flowers and recently cut green grass. Lobby was very spacious with a large fireplace that my family camped out around. Rooms are huge with lots of space, large floor to ceiling window & impressed that there was a sliding barn like door for the bathroom. Would have preferred that the room chair have arms and a ottoman to relax. If traveling for business, the desk lighting was poor. We all agreed that that we would come back when in the area.

Spacious, inviting, and we'll run hotel right off the highway in Wausau. The lobby is just well designed with a well stocked bar to your left and living room like area to your right. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, and a great pool/hot tub. Gym is good. The location necessitates you drive to get anywhere, but I rarely feel the need to leave.
All rooms have mini fridge and microwave.
