Decided to stay here for a night instead of camping because I had come down with a cold and didn't think thunderstorms and 30 degree weather would help my cold. Room was renovated and clean enough, but I might have been better off in the thunderstorms. After checking in on a Friday night, I was met with a cast of shady characters both inside and outside the building as I tried to find my room. Being sick and needing rest, I went to the front desk and requested a room which might be a little quieter, away from the action of the evening which seemed to be mostly high school students arriving for hotel parties. The woman at the front desk rudely told me she wouldn't change my room--not that she couldn't but that she wouldn't. She acted as if she'd never heard such an unbelievable request in her life and it wasn't until I was walking out the door that she offered that it was because the hotel was booked full that night--which is hard to believe considering the parking lot was about 10% full at 10pm. Doors proceeded to slam shut all night, making rest difficult. The bar was pretty low for a $40/night motel, and I've stayed in some rough places, but this place didn't meet my expectations for a reasonable night of rest.

We were greeted by the front desk lady, who didn't seem to be enjoying her job very much. First thing she said is, "s****y night, as always". The rooms are nice, newly renovated. The first night there was screaming down the hall, not too bad. However, the second night it got out of hand. When I called the front desk, he said that he would take care of it. An hour later and nothing had been done. It got to the point where other guests and myself were in the hallway ready to go take care of it ourselves. Finally someone went down to the front desk to get the person working. He came up and told her to quiet down or she would get kicked out. She didn't stop, so multiple people called the front desk. It got so bad, we told him to call the police, but instead he called her boyfriend/husband/father of the children she was scolding threatening. He showed up and they started yelling at each other before he stormed out saying he had to go back to work. The people in the room next to me called the police and I ended up going to bed. By this time it was nearly 3:30 am.

PROS Room was clean, quiet and cooled adequately. Very good value. Check-in was fast. Free TV with decent selections. The property was decent looking inside and it felt safe enough. Much good potential at this hotel. Fix the doors, provide some basic toiletries, a fridge and voila!
CONS Where to begin. Only three of the entrances could be used for entry. The others had the electronic key passes disabled or removed. Plenty of exits near the room, but entrances were (in my case) far from my room. Upon arrival at the entrance, I was directed to I had a difficult time with the electronic lock as it was not lighted and it was tough to find the slot with the handful of stuff I was carrying to my room. Once inside there were no signs and the door to the first-floor room was not evident to me so I went up the stairs, big mistake as I had to schlep my stuff even further. Finally arrived at my room and the key card took about ten tries before it worked. (I actually had to get the keys redone twice more in the next three days as they kept failing). Bath towels were undersized, no shampoo, no hairdryer. Housekeeping schedule was a mystery but I did get them to change my towels a couple times. No refrigerator or microwave.
Biggest gripe was the entry mystery and resultant distant parking from the room.

DO NOT stay here! Dangerously unsanitary! Pet URINE ALL OVER MY MATTRESS PAD! On my photos believe me, these were not just stains, they were actually urine! The floors in the room were filthy, sticky and disgusting. I asked the manager for a refund after realizing i has slept with animal urine under my head all night and he offered 5% discount. He didn't even apologize! No thanks. I'm calling the health department.

We got into town late. Around midnight. Got to the hotel which was right off the hwy. Check in was slow and when he finally got to us I paid for the room as he proceeded to tell me he needed my wifes identification. I thought this was strange as I was the card holder paying for the room, it was my vehicle I was putting the information down for ect. I went to the truck to get my wifes id. She came into the hotel because she thought it was strange that he needed her id. Then he explained that it was all because this hotel was in trouble for hosting prostitution and drug selling rings..... my wife was immediately offended. As I was too. We asked for our money back and he said no. No refunds. And we left. I took my chances driving through the snowstorm

I am very sorry that this happened here at are location in Wausau WI. I am glad I was able to reach out and spoke with your wife on the phone a few weeks ago I explained to her about what had happened she was very thankful for my phone call as I was also very tankful for her understanding. She was even surprised by me trying to reach out too you guys on this problem. I did address this with the person you had this issue with and it has been taken care of. When we checked in the lobby had people hanging around and then when we went to pull around to our room there were people sitting in their cars smoking pot and u could smell it in the air . When we went in the room the bed looked like it was never made up with fresh sheets

The night we stayed was disruptive with yelling and a dangerous enviroment. The room was bad, I was looking at a brick wall all night and we called the front desk for shampoo that wasn't already in the room and they said they don't include the shampoo in the stay. They can keep the light off for us for good. Bad experience for $68.

The low rates drew me to choose this motel. I'll do my homework from now on! Where do I begin... The stained bedding and bath towels, the toilet had urine at the base (not mine - women don't do their business standing up), the fire hazard of an electrical cord hanging on the hot baseboard heater, the loosely hanging drapes (which should be an easy fix), cold or no coffee in the lobby. However, by far my biggest complaint would be the NOISE! I checked in on a Saturday afternoon, so I figured there be a bit of partying...Every night the same thing. I try calling the front desk - repeatedly- and I get a busy signal. Who takes care of these things?!! It's now 3:30am Monday, the day I check out and I haven't slept at all. ALL 3 NIGHTS, ALL NIGHT LONG. I won't stay here ever again, and I visit the Wausau area often. Do Not Stay at the Motel 6!!

Last minute reservation for us to attend an out of town wedding in Wausau. Property is flanked by alley/parking on either side where all sorts of shady characters are hanging out smoking and talking loudly to one another. I guess you get what you pay for as this was the cheapest option. Property is supposedly all non-smoking yet our room reeked like an ashtray when we walked in, floor was gritty with dirt and there were disgusting stains on the bedspread. Even at a bargain price, I expect it to be clean and no stains on the bedding. People in nearby rooms were also very loud - seemed like an ongoing party atmosphere. We called and asked for another room - they had none. Desk clerk offered to come to deorderize our room. They did come while we were out at the wedding and it helped but then smelled overpoweringly of lemon. To their credit they also gave us a clean bedspread also (or at least not stained). I gave one extra star for their willingness to correct the cigarette smell and stained bedspread. The noise issue continued with people talking loudly in the middle of the night seemingly right outside our door and again in very early morning. Some things are worth paying for! Never again.

Nice front desk. Possible double charge. Shady characters hanging outside side entrance smoking and yelling out for hours. Did not feel comfortable going to car. Room clean. Bathroom clean. Comfortable bed. User friendly tv. Coffee only. Good location. Dogs allowed. Noisy.
