We booked a room on Expedia for 5 people, 2 adults and 3 older children. We assumed we would have 2 queens and a sofa bed. We were given a tiny room with 2 full size beds, definitely not a 5 person room. The door in the room even said the maximum occupancy was 4. We were told there were no other rooms available and were given a rollaway bed that barely fit in the room.
Liked: fun cabin theme throughout hotel, pool and hot tub were clean, fun and open late, cubby hole bar was a plus not found at most pit stop hotels, free breakfast was basic, but decent and hot.
Disliked: small room, food stained linens on bed, overflowing trash cans around property, barking dogs left in rooms
Staff was somewhat friendly, but obviously didn’t care about the issue with the size of our room. We were told it was up to us to make sure we were booking the right sized room. This should be done by the hotel and Expedia. They could have given us a second room if the bigger rooms were filled considering we booked a room for 5 people and it was probably a fire hazard to have 5 people in a 4 person room. Had that happened, we would have given 5 stars.

This hotel is located in Rothschild, just south of Wausau, with easy access to Highways 39, 51 and 29. The decor here is rustic northwoods, and it is reflected both inside and out of the rooms, even with the lamps, carpeting, furniture and bathrooms. This hotel is also eco-friendly, with soap dispensers in the shower and at the sink, instead of individual bottles. Friendly staff, clean room.

Stoney Creek was a great location for our family Christmas celebration weekend. We also spent a fun filled morning at the Grand Lodge Waterpark; a discount is included with a stay at Stoney Creek. The facilities and staff are Stoney Creek were very nice and the complimentary breakfast had a lot of options. Pool and hot tub area is very large a spacious. A great weekend was had by all.

Pros: pool area was nice and clean. Not many chairs, but I've seen much worse. Meeting areas seemed very nice. Coffee was offered ALL DAY, plus cookies. Room had the basics you would expect and were enough for us. Some people weren't impressed with breakfast, but it didn't bother me. Eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, bagels, toast, etc.
Cons: Why is there no water offered at breakfast?! Juice, coffee, but no water. This location also has mattresses from 1998. They are basically trampolines. And who still has double beds in hotels anymore. If you're a family of 3 or 4, cramming 2 adults into a double is absurd. Noises from the hallway were basically in your room. We thought someone walked into our room, but they were across the hall. The bathroom also offers no noise reduction. I've stayed at other Stoney Creeks and did not have thr issues stated above.

Stayed here for several months while on business. Tried out several of their different theme styled rooms and it was a fun time working in the area and staying at this place. The staff is nice and friendly, the breakfast is one of the best I've ever had as I travel for a living and have seen my share of cheap crappy breakfast selections. The hot tub is large and actually hot. The pool is huge and nice. Yes, the place is dated and looks like it belongs on the set of an Up North movie with the log cabin theme and Moose head in the lobby, but it's all fun. Even though the place is dated, the owners have kept up with it and it's in great shape. I had no issues really and I stayed here for a couple of months. There's a movie theater, a grocery store, a nice bar/restaurant all just right across the street. Only real downside is that if you get a room on the end of the building near the railroad tracks, you're not going to be happy at 1 am when the train comes through and blasts its horn at the RR crossing just across the street. The train comes through several times a day and it's really a pain in the butt.

You will not regret staying here. Location was perfect for easy walking distance to the expo center where our event was. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We had to add another occupant to the room last minute and it took all of 2 minutes without hassle. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfy! We asked for extra blankets via the phone and within 5 minutes they had delivered them to our door. I was worried about breakfast, but that was pointless and a waste of time. The free breakfast was delicious! They had all the normal breakfast items (eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffle bar, juice, yogurts, fruits, bagels, and cereal), but it was all made well! We stayed for 1 night with three occupants in the king deluxe room with a pull out bed for $125. We all slept well and woke up to smells of coffee and we're able to fill our bellies with good food quickly. Can't beat that, especially for the price. I will definitely be booking here again when I'm in town!

I can’t say enough about the charming staff and the cozy, clean accommodations. We had three rooms of three different types and everyone was pleased. The bunk room with king bed was super cool for the cousins to all be together with plenty of extra space. This would be a super room for a family of 5 as well. We hung out in the breakfast room in the evenings playing games and it was toasty and comfortable. We will be back again for sure!

We have been staying here for years when we visit Wisconsin and it was great. Not this time as the new owners have been letting it go downhill. This happens when the new owners are foreign, I have seen this many times before. The place was not clean as it used to be and garbage was not picked up in the 5 nights we stayed. Had to go down for new towels? Breakfast was the same every day edable but thats it. The room was advertised with a microwave even looked under the bed but couldn't find one. Bottom line for the price and maybe one night it would work but not for a longer stay. We are not that picky but we will never come back here

This was perfect for our family ski weekend. Loved the lodge decor and check in was great. Good service from the front desk, assume it was the owner but not sure. They have free coffee in the lobby and a bar near the check in desk which was nice as we got an old fashioned while we had our takeout dinner. Room was good sized, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Loved the pool area and large hot tub. Was very fairly priced for what we got. Would definitely stay again. Only smallish complaints was wish they had Queen instead of full beds and there were no towels in the pool area early evening so had to go to front desk to get some. Another huge plus, it is right next door to a Culvers!

Pleasant. Somewhat minimal but appropriate for the price-range. Staff friendly and very helpful. Conveniently located to restaurants and freeways. We planned to only stay one night but extended to two nights because we enjoyed the staff and the convenient location.
