Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have stayed at a few places in our many years of travels to Lake Geneva, our getaway spot that we travel to every year. This is our second bed and breakfast location, we used to stay at French Country Inn, but now we have a new favorite place. This is what a true bed and breakfast should be. A gorgeous old house with so much charm and country feel, Bob and Sue are the nicest hosts and Cheddar is the most loving and playful dog you will ever meet.We stayed in the Generals room which is the biggest and has it's own private bath. We believe the other rooms have to share a bathroom in the hallway. The property itself is very big and we got to walk around the area and see the old barn, and Cheddar will accompany you, however she would only do this if you would occasionally throw her ball for fetch. The breakfast Sue prepared for us was unbelievable with fresh made scones and various fruits along with our poached eggs with Spinach, bacon, English muffins,Apple Pineapple Salad and the homemade preserves were the best. This experience is one we hope to have many times in our future trips to Lake Geneva. Highly recommended.

If you like history, friendly service and great food, this is a very nice place to stay. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. You can walk to the lake shore path or they will drop you off and pick you up. It is a 3 minute drive in to the downtown area. They have wifi, but didn't work well this stay.

We stayed in the Generals Room (king size bed). The property is beautiful and the owners are fantastic. Clean, well kept. Breakfast was AMAZING. We stayed in November (off season) and were the only people there. The owners are great people and have lived in the home for a LONG time (grew up there). We'd stay again absolutely!

This was the first bed and breakfast I had stayed at. We took the room because everything else in Lake Geneva was booked of course. It was a quaint building and the fact that we arrived early did not seem to pose a problem. Bob greeted us and gave us a tour of the building. Although there was a bit of a musty smell the building was in good condition considering it's age. Our room had it's bathroom and we were surprised it had a little television. The bed was comfortable as well. We did not spend much time at the bed and breakfast but the breakfast was good and the other guests were a pleasure to speak with. Small world, the person I was with had worked years prior with another guest, The location was good too but was not walking distance to downtown but an easy drive.

Room Tip: Would recommend the Generals room because the other rooms were a bit small.

We were in town for a friend's wedding and decided we wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast. I am so happy that we picked this place because the whole experience was great. The home is historic and has a neat story behind it (ask Sue for details :) ). We stayed in the Gardenview room, and it was very cozy. Bed was comfy, and we had a private bathroom. The breakfasts were AMAZING and huge. We didn't need to eat lunch the whole time during our stay! However, the absolute best thing about our stay was the hospitality Bob and Sue provided. They are the most wonderful people, and it felt like we were staying with family. In a world that seems to care less and less about customer service, they go above and beyond for their guests.

My husband and I stayed at General Boyd's for a couple nights and loved our stay. Our room, the Rose room was very clean and comfortable. The Rose room is the smallest room, but still has a nice private bath (bath just outside the room, not inside like the rest of their rooms). This bath was recently redone, and I think is the nicest and biggest. They have beautiful grounds, perfect for sitting and relaxing. The interior of the home is welcoming, clean and well decorated. The owners are very friendly and even drove one of the guest to a drop off spot so they can walk some of the Lake Geneva Trail and parked their car at the end of it so they have a way back. Breakfast was fantastic. While we stayed, breakfast consisted of loads of fresh fruit, scones, muffins, yogurt, granola and jam, then the hot course of pancakes, quiche, cinnamon applesauce, sausage, and bacon. I felt very full almost all day after this breakfast, but not heavy as everything is homemade and fresh. We walked downtown on the Lake Geneva path, about 2.5 miles just across the street and down the first road on the left. It was a great walk, but is not all paved or flat. You could easily drive downtown as well in only a few minutes, but parking downtown is difficult on weekends. Must less stressful to walk if you are in no hurry.

I decided to surprise my wife with a mini vacation....and since neither of us had ever been to a bed and breakfast, we thought we'd give it a shot.....and it was GREAT! Bob and Sue are suuuuper nice and helpful. We got there on a Friday evening and were greeted with fresh from the oven cookies and glasses of wine. The rooms were very nicely made and house overall was beautifully decorated. There were 2 other couples there but there was so much room in the house that you wouldn't even know it. On saturday bob drove us to the lake so that we could walk around the trail. Where can you get that service in a hotel? And dont get started on food...sue is a wonderful cook and you always leave the table stuffed!! Will def be going back.

We recently stayed at General Boyd's and had a very nice stay: charming home, wonderful hosts and fabulous food. But what sets them apart is that we felt like family. Our daughter was getting married at the nearby Northwind Perennial Farm ( check it out!) in a simple, rustic ceremony. Which translates to: no plumbing or place to change into her wedding dress! Sue and Bob were so gracious in allowing her to get ready in our room. We will always be so grateful! It's not surprising that at least two of the other couples who were staying there that weekend, were "regulars" at General Boyd's. If we are ever back in the Lake Geneva area, you can bet that we will stay there again too.

My wife and I enjoy visiting to Lake Geneva once a year for a romantic get-a-way. We chose General Boyd,s Bed and Breakfast because of their elegant rooms. The owners Bob & Sue were very friendly. Their hospitality was so sensational that my wife and I felt like we were visiting family. The breakfast was phenomenal and the conversation was extraordinary. We highly recommend General Boyd,s Bed and Breakfast and will be back.

My wife and I spent the weekend at General Boyd's and we had a great time. Bob & Sue were wonderful hosts, not to mention breakfast was amazing. Bob & Sue helped us to plan out a day of great sightseeing, and offered good insight into what was not to be missed. Highly recommended B&B in a great resort town. Would stay there again without question.
