Beautiful area, nice small town. We attended this resort on the recommendation of two different friends. When we called to make the reservation for a 3 night stay, we were told they had limited availability options due to the Rider Cup event happening in Koehler the upcoming week. We also asked if this was off-season (checking in 9/19/21) and were told that they we fully operational until the end of September. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon a few minutes after check in time. There was another person waiting to check in ahead of us, but no one was available or anywhere to be found. (This was the case most of the time during our stay, we saw very few staff/ workers.) While we were there, the majority of the rooms were dark and the water rentals were closed as well as the resort activities. We were made ware at checkin there would be no housekeeping durning our three night stay. This resulted in guests leaving dirty room services dishes and even dirty towels & linens as well as trash bags on the hallway tables each day while we were there. Not expected at this price point! We cancelled our 3rd night. We did enjoy a couple of spa services, good food and the beauty of the views. We encountered friendly servers at the restaurants at the resort, but other upper level staff was not inviting in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Fearless05177583362. Unfortunately, our watersports have not been on a consistent schedule this month, but we have been taking reservations and do have staff there for those who call to reserve a rental - even that same day. Along with other hotels, we are trying to minimize the exposure of housekeeping going into rooms while guests are still checked-in, unless service is requested, which can also be done through our new app. I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed our award-winning spa and the dining at our restaurants. Our staff really does put their heart and soul into what they do for our guests, and I hope you'll consider visiting during our Old World Christmas Market or the summer season next year, to experience all things Elkhart Lake.

This is a huge, beautiful resort, the lake front is pretty and it looks like there is a lot to do here with kayaks, canoes and paddle boats (although we were a passing-through one-night stay so we did't have time to use these). The room was large, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Bonus we had a large balcony! The decor was looking a little tired and worn but they were actively painting, so I assume that will soon be fixed. Otto's restaurant served us a fantastic breakfast. We enjoyed our stay - the hotel was very empty due to the season.

Hello BWWheatRidge! My favorite part of working here at The Osthoff Resort is speaking with all of guests and I remember taking a picture of you during this delicious breakfast that you're speaking of in this review, at Otto's! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed this relaxation stay you were on the hunt for and look forward to when you can spend some more time on the lake. And yes, painting is being done, along with carpeting and many other excellent updates you will see during your next stay!

Nice place. Great Lake location. Lowered our reviews because the Covid precautious listed are not accurate. There are no covid precautions being taken at this resort. Another reason for the lower review is because our room didn’t have AC and was uncomfortably hot.

Hello MBDV2 - thank you for sharing your feedback with us and we hope you were able to share the AC issue with our staff, as we would be sure to fix this to make your stay more comfortable while you were here. In regards to Covid precautions, we have continued to keep the plexiglass barriers up for the front desk and spa desk, hand sanitizing stations throughout, but masks are not required, so I do apologize if you had that expectation. Our website does have the latest precautions. We hope you enjoy this fall and look forward to another visit with you again.

We were told a day before that coming to the Concourse restaurant before 5 pm, we would have no problem getting outside seating so tonight at 4:15, we stopped by to see if we could get an outdoor table for 2 for a quick dinner. There were at least 3 tables open. The hostess at work at 4:15 was extremely rude to our request, appeared very stressed and simply said “ no” she couldn’t accommodate us. We stressed we would eat quickly and be out by 5:00 pm. She had indoor seating open but was not polite nor had any patience with us. She said no , looked over her paperwork extremely frustrated and said there’s nothing and we replied “ too bad” and left. We had thought of staying at The Osthoff next summer but we understand times are different now, however business is needed to survive and she gave us the impression that she did not need our business. Turns out we dined at an extremely nice restaurant in town that gave us every minute of attention to our dinner needs. Sadly, we’ve made the decision not to stay at The Osthoff in the future. We don’t feel that our presence mattered. We felt bad this young lady was under such extreme pressure, however, maybe this is not the right fit for her when it comes to handling customers plans. A simple reply with politeness would have been expected from such a fine hotel but her attitude was not what we received. The osthoff is a lovely resort however it turns out there are other restaurants that want our business too and will dine there. We would have been fine with a reply that could explain how she could accommodate us another time or just show some courtesy but she lacked that. Sadly we can’t give a review. We wish the young lady the night before would not have told us to come before 5 and we’d have no issue getting outdoor service. We asked if we needed reservations and she said no.

Hello ScenicOne - I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share this with us, otherwise we would not have been aware. I made sure to share this with our Food & Beverage Director, along with the Restuarant Manager of Concourse Restaurant. Our service and staff are really top-notch, so this feedback was a surprise to us, but we do take it seriously and hope this doesn't represent The Osthoff Resort and that you may consider a getaway with us in the near future.

Just getting home from our 5-day, 4-night stay at The Osthoff. Another great stay. Went kayaking, rented pedal boats, and took the sunset cruise. Kids loved the activities at Kids Cub. Relaxed at the beach. Bar & food service right on the beach was great. Have visited six years in a row and just booked our suite for the Christmas holiday season!

Hi mattpF3646EI! Looking at the great mages you shared here on Tripadvisor, I remember your family exactly (and, of course, the wine you gifted to me - thank you, thank you!). You were all such a delight and I'm so happy to hear that your entire experience was everything you hoped it would be. I recall you asking about Cocktail Making Classes, which we just planned for November 27th (details coming out this week). Stay tuned on possibly more classes during your winter stay. We look forward to seeing you again in a few short months!
