Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room was neat and tidy. The sheets were amazing. My dog was welcome to stay and to go in the bar. It was a top place to spend a couple of days.. and the local scenery was breathtaking. I'd love to come back

Fantastic spot, great Southern hospitality from the friendly hosts. Super clean rooms. The pub meals were superb combined with the atmosphere of a real country pub and log fire roaring made for a highlight of our Southern road trip.

We needed a cosy place to stay for a birthday weekend. The Waikaia Motels fitted the bill. Only small grizzle is the thickness of the walls. Our neighbours heard everything!!!! A big plus was the proximity to the pub.

The motel units were nice and clean and tidy. But the food was amazing. This is much much nicer than your average "pub grub" I loved my Thai salad, the men enjoyed there steaks and the beautiful pork dish. Highly recommend for a good meal. Hosts were very welcomomg.

Awesome pub meals, the pork belly and blue cod are delicious. The hospitality is welcoming and the staff are attentive - a true authentic country pub. We were a group of 10 and enjoyed the bar inside and then outside to the garden bar to enjoy the sun and eat our meals. We will be back :)

We stayed from 3 to 6 Feb 2017 in Units 3 and 4 (they only have 4 units). Rooms were clean and tidy and had good cooking facilities within. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children so we booked two units with an adjoining door. This worked very well for us. The Waikaia Hotel staff were helpful (these motels are managed by the Hotel people). We were able to access laundry whilst we stayed there for washing and extra towels, etc.
