Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Could not have been a better place for our family (5 adults and 1 baby) to stay while in Roane County for a large family reunion. We had 3 rooms in the back of house which worked perfectly to socialize! Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the owner Debbie could not have been any nicer making sure we were taken care of during our visit! House is beautiful and was decorated so cute for fall and Halloween. We look forward to staying there again in the future!

I had an old friend in town & she wanted to take a short drive in WV somewhere. We invited another friend so off the 3 of us went to The Arnott House, a BnB in Spencer a short 1.5 hr drive. The experience could not have been more perfect . Except maybe … Spencer needs a restaurant open on Sunday but it was a nice quiet adventure. We drove to the winery on the hill. Explored the town.
It is an old storied house with beautiful woodwork & furnishings. Our host was the new owner, Debbie. She is working out the “ bugs” of new ownership since she just took over in July 2021 and has never run a BnB before. Our homemade breakfast was delicious & the rooms were spacious, clean, had plenty of furniture, TV’s & free internet. The place felt warm, cozy & homey. The price was very reasonable. I would stay here again & recommend you do too. My husband and I will definitely take a weekend trip just to get away.

Debbie is an amazing host that makes you feels like this is your home away from home! Such a charming old house, beautifully decorated, then yet served us a delightful delicious breakfast! Would Definitely stay here again of the need arises!

I stayed at the Arnott house for an extended time on business. Other members of my family also stayed there when they came to visit me. Highly recommend. Dilya and Greg are incredible hosts and I felt I was part of the family. They both went out of the way to make me comfortable, help me feel at home and above and beyond with a variety of other things. Dilya will make sure everything about your stay is perfect. She is an incredible cook and will make you anything you want for breakfast. Just a note, the pancakes are awesome.... The conversation is easy and I enjoyed relaxing after breakfast as we talked. You can't just leave with a goodbye.... hugs are involved. and I know myself and my family will look forward to our next visit as it will be like seeing old friends.
This is the ONLY place you want to stay in Spencer and is worth the trip to Spencer just to enjoy the food, friendship and getting away from a way to busy world.

My husband and I just returned from a visit to Spencer (my hometown) and our first time at the B&B. OMG!!! We totally fell in love it AND with Dilya, who was so warm and outgoing that I felt like we'd been friends forever. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. She is such a work horse! We will be back...again and again, until she tells us not to return. :) We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone. THANK YOU DILYA!!!!!

Step into the past and your new temporary home in no-wheres-ville West Virginia.

Dilya will be there to greet you. She warms up quickly to her guests and is super lovely and accommodating, with a cute Russian accent. Her and her husband are very welcoming to everyone (it was a concern since this is West Virginia, not to mention the more conservative Cunningham House up the hill).

Once the rubber factory across the street's 8 am shift change whistle goes off, it's chow time! You'll probably wake up prior to the whistle with the aroma of fresh coffee and bacon in the air. Dilya will make you whatever you like for breakfast; you name it: pancakes, crepes (plain or cream cheese stuffed), french toast, egg sandwich, or their fresh sausage patties (it seemed to be everyone's favorite). The Arnott House itself is located steps from downtown Spencer with the renowned Robey Theater and quaint little shopping area. If you're passing through town and looking for a place to stay, I'd strongly recommend it.

Was in Spencer in October 2012 and the accommodations were very nice. Rooms were comfortable, warm and clean. Would recommend highly! Location was easy to get to and a front door key was provided with the room key. Owners live behind the B&B and are easily available. The owner's son was very agreeable and made our stay very pleasant. If you've never stayed at a B&B, I would recommend this one.

I came to do family research in WV The B&B happens to be the home of my 3xs great and 2xs grandparents which made the experience like coming home to visit family. Wonderfully renovated--keeping the old and making it new again. The owners were welcoming and made the stay all that more enjoyable. (took me awhile to do this, so the date is a year off, but wanted to say the good things)

My stay at the Arnott House was ideal. My expectations for lodging in Spencer West Virginia were not high, but the proprietors of this B&B worked hard to insure that my stay was comfortable and restful. The Arnott House is an older home which has been converted to a 7 room B&B. My room (room 3) was spacious, spotless and comfortable. The house was quiet and restful. Breakfast was prepared "on request", with a choice of most any breakfast food desired, and it was prepared perfectly. I have family who live about 30 minutes from Spencer, and there is little in the way of good lodging choices in this area, and I will return to the Arnott House on future visits with confidence.
