The Blennerhassett Hotel receives high marks for its historic appeal and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and elegant decor. Guests appreciate the spacious and clean rooms, though some report noise and heating issues. While the service earns praise for being friendly and professional, there are occasional mentions of slow response times. The central location is a hit for those looking to explore Parkersburg. Nevertheless, opinions on value diverge as some guests find the prices for food and amenities steep despite the overall convenience.

My husband and I escaped on our motorcycle to West Virginia. It was 2 days after restaurants were allowed to seat indoors in WV and the Blannerhasset was open for dining.

This was our first adventure to the hotel and it was such a blessing after being cooped up.

The hotel had called to confirm our dinner appointment for 7pm, but told us that if we inquired upon arrival, that they might be able to get us in sooner. ((If you travel, you know the flexible scheduling goes a long way.))

They were incredibly welcoming upon arrival and had sanitized specialty items, such as remotes and pens for our room. The dining room assistant told us to let us know when we were ready to dine and that they would work with us to get in as soon as possible. (Our 7pm reservation got adjusted to 5:30pm)

Our room was VERY clean and nice. The hotel is very well kept. Everything was lovely.

The staff was so generous during this difficult time. We have only great things to report about them. The food was fantastic and lovely there.

Bed? Awesome.
Bathroom? Clean.
Updates? Yes.
Service? ASAP.

Upon checkout, we arrived in our biker rain gear. The attendant shared biking stories with us, we laughed and she told us to be safe. What a send off!

Great people, great sleep and great visit.

Isn't that what you really wanted to know?😉

This is a fine historical hotel, well kept up, and with an excellent restaurant and lounge for lunch and supper. The breakfast, however, is just awful. Apparently (hopefully!) not part of the restaurant, the "Blennerhassett Cafe" serves the greasiest pastries you have ever had, and that is all the food offered. They make nice coffee and even have fruit juice. But there is so much oil in all the pastries, even the scones, that you will need to wash your hands if you touch them. If you touch them with a fork or knife, they fall apart.

The rooms are not modern, nor updated much with amenities other than the Keurig machine and TV, but they are well appointed as befits a luxury hotel of its day. You get the K-cups, creamer and sugar at the front desk. There is no refrigerator, but there is an ice bucket in the room and an ice machine in the vending machines area on the floor. Curiously, the parking lot immediately behind the hotel is for the county building across the street. The hotel's parking lot is on the other side of an alley after the county lot.

The hotel restaurant is superb for lunch or dinner, whether you sit inside or out. There is also a bar, and you can use either of the dining areas, or the various library-like rooms, as a lounge with drinks from the bar.

The breakfast "Blennerhassett Cafe" across the hall from the restaurant and lounge fortunately puts your pastries in a fancy paper bag with long handles so your fingers do not get dirty until you get to your room. There is no seating near the "Cafe" for eating your breakfast, and the restaurant/lounge area is closed off.

Ever read about a place and wondered if it is possibly true? This is why I wanted to stay at The Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The building is “old world” charm itself. The rooms are pleasant and beautifully decorated. Bed comfy and the bathroom large and modern. Ice service each late afternoon is a very nice convenience! The hotel restaurant, Brunello, served up the most delicious braised beef over polenta I’ve ever tasted! But, the main reason I want to return for another week-long stay is the warm and caring hospitality from all the hotel employees that I had the pleasure of encountering each day of my stay. It was a joy to return each day to be greeted by the guys who valet parked my car. One even went running back to my car to grab a large bag I forgot to get before stepping out. Morning breakfast served in the restaurant was plentiful with self-serve buffet. I traveled by myself this first visit, but have convinced my husband he needs to come with me the next time I stay at The Blennerhassett Hotel! 💝

My wife and I stayed here and chose the Romance Package in late October. We opted for the Signature Suite Marie Antoinette Room. The package we chose came with a $100 voucher to the in-house restaurant, bottle of champagne, chocolates, cookies, and a lovely vase. The restaurant took almost the whole voucher which was expected as it is a very nice location with quality food, but we were place right over a vent that was blowing cold air in late October? Also, our waiter was very inattentive and slow with refills and very awkward with conversation and recommendations. The room was very elegant with a large bathroom and multi-directional shower, unfortunately the room was frigid the entire night and into the morning, when my wife and I went out on a late night walk it was actually slightly warmer outside. We cranked the heat up to the highest level and the bedroom itself warmed up slightly but the bathroom refused to warm up. The champagne wasn't very good, and we wound up pouring it out after a single glass each, chocolates (three) weren't much better. The cookies were very good and the vase and flowers were very nice and we were allowed to take the vase home with us as a memento. Overall, my recommendation is this is an okay place to go but it is possible to do better.

I have stayed overnight at the hotel a few times. Other times, I have been there for parties and dining. I was sad to see the library and cafe go. However, after my last overnight visit in March 2019, I have not been back for an overnight stay. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The bed, linens, and pillows are comfy. The robes are a nice touch. However, when I woke up on the day of my check out, my impression quickly changed. I went to brush my teeth and the water came out of the faucet dark brown. It was disgusting. I hadn't been made aware of any repairs being made, a busted line, or a boil advisory. When I went to the front desk and told them what happened, I was not given a full or partial refund, nor a future credit. I was also not provided with bottled water to brush my teeth with clean water. I expected more from a highly rated place.

We stayed here while in Parkersburg for 4 days. This is an old historic building. Rooms were decent with a few upgrades but still not a modern hotel. The heat in our room did not work so they brought us a space heater that work part of the time. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms but if you ask they will bring you a free refrigerator. Parking is in back of the building so it’s a long walk to the front door. There are not as many electric plugs as I like but it is an older building. If your into historic older hotels you will love the Blennerhassett. If you like modern conveniences go somewhere else. We received breakfast vouchers to eat at the hotel restaurant. They breakfast included eggs, a meat, potatoes and a bread. Not too bad be prepared to wait a little time for your food to be cooked. It’s not a buffet.
Employees were friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed at the Blennerhassett for a long weekend, combining a visit with our daughter at Marietta College with our 30th anniversary celebration. It was a very good choice.

Since it was a special occasion, we sprang for the William Morris Suite, which was charmingly decorated and very comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful and historic, with lovely public areas. The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. The free valet parking was nice as well.

There were a couple of minor housekeeping glitches, and the first day's excellent (complimentary) breakfast wasn't quite matched by the second day's, but overall, this is a truly charming hotel that makes guests feel very welcome. We loved it, and will definitely be back.

I intended to leave a long review but honestly I’m over this after trying to get anywhere with their customer service.

My husband and I booked a night in one of their signature suites for our anniversary. Before the Blenny was under new ownership we stayed there for the two nights following our wedding, dined at the restaurant for each anniversary, and regularly visited the in-house Starbucks. We loved it! Unfortunately, things have changed.

There were no complementary chocolates in our room, the tub’s drain was obviously broken, I’m really not sure how housekeeping didn’t notice it if they had cleaned the tub. Leading me to believe that the room was not well cleaned. They did come up to do a temporary fix (which was appreciated) but I didn’t feel comfortable using it after.

We ordered an expensive dinner and after an hour and a half of waiting, called down and they had forgotten about it.

The ice machine was broken on our floor, we were woken early due to a billing issue even though we explained that we were sleeping in as it was our first night away from our 19 month old, and our bill for the stay was applied incorrectly on one card when it should have been on two.

After our stay I sent an email asking to correspond with someone regarding the stay, after over a week of no response I reached out again to which I still haven’t heard back. I reached out to their social media team finally and they promised to make things right. After some time of waiting for them to make things right, they finally responded to me with a detailed list of excuses for each issue and nothing to make it right. I HATE that I’m leaving this review as the Blennerhassett is a local business, but wow, what a disappointing experience.

We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is dog friendly which is important to us, in a great location to tour historic Parkersburg and the customer service was exceptional. Robin was our front desk associate on duty and she is fabulous, very personable and knowledgeable about the city and places to visit. We highly recommend this hotel, especially for dog owners.

Had a wonderful stay at the historic Blennershassett Hotel. We wanted to visit Blennerhassett Island State Park and the boat dock is very near the hotel. I like staying in classic, historic hotels, and this did not disappoint. I opted for the standard room to save money though the special rooms looked awesome. While a bit small with a large TV armoire, large bed and desk, the room was well appointed and more than adequate. The shower and bathroom were excellent. Both rooms were very clean. The bed and pillows were excellent. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor seating area where we had our complimentary continental breakfast. Actually they give you a voucher for $8 each to cover all or part of breakfast. The hotel seems to be in a safe area. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and on par with the best hotels. There is not much to see or do near the hotel, so we opted to drive 20 minutes to Marietta for dinner and a walk around their downtown. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

What is the best suite in the Hotel?
Answer from Michael G

Personal favorite would have to be the William Morris Suite or the Bi-level Executive Suite. This property is so unique, with a variety of accommodations (7 different room types!) part of the fun is finding new favorites each visit!
