I was a bit unsure when we arrived to an empty hotel, however you call the number at the desk and someone was there right away to give us room keys. My husband and I had a beautiful room with an original exposed brick wall and fireplace. TV, fridge, desk, and modern bathroom were a hit. Coupling this with sleeping in the same hotel where Robert E Lee laid his head made a cool experience. I would suggest room darkening blinds on the windows, it is really bright in the room with the morning sun and a mirror in the bedroom would help with getting ready considering the small bathroom. But overall a really nice stay.

Our family came from out of state to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. We had several rooms at the Mullin Hotel and it was incredible! Each room is decorated differently, so it's a unique experience for everyone. ALL of the rooms are beautiful and modern. It is definitely NOT what you would expect from an 1847 building. Although you don't see pictures of the bathrooms on this site, they will exceed your expectations too! The hotel also has a restaurant and bar on the bottom floor with delicious food! They also have a kitchen area with free snacks and drinks available all day long. I would definitely recommend staying at the Mullin Hotel when you are in the West Virginia area because you won't be disappointed. It was an exceptional value!

Nice clean rooms. It is on a main intersection. But i always travel with a sound machine. Wonderful restaurant on basement level. That was the best part of my stay. No lobby all done by phone. Efficient but a little unwelcoming. Comfy bed. I slept well.

I do not recommend this place at all. It's run like a storage unit for humans.
The Good - cold water and some snacks on the first floor.
The Bad - the room smelled like a wet dog on a rainy day. The A/C (half stack) had a mind of its own and did not respond to the remote control. No table in the room.
The Ugly - it's obvious the owners don't really need to make a profit and they have no ambition to run it properly. There is no customer service. The website mentions "no touch", but that is incorrect because you need to touch the keypad on the door to enter. It is actually "no face" because you will never see nor hear anything from the management - especially the room for which you paid, and the combination to enter that mystery room. I paid for a room, arrived, and had to seek someone from the restaurant to make a call so I could find out what room I was to use, and the combo to get in. Totally the worst run hotel I've ever used. The mgmt obviously does not care about anything - especially the customers. My room definitely was not worth $140; maybe $60. Go to Petersburg and stay at the Hermitage.

TripAdvisor inexplicably calls this a "5-star" hotel. It's basic and rustic, though clean and quiet. Room was small, no desk or table (I'm writing this review with my laptop sitting on the mini-fridge, while I'm sitting on the ice chest we brought). Tiny but functional shower, low-end TV, only double beds available, no in-room microwave or coffee maker (there is ONE available on the lower floor). Wi-Fi was pretty decent. The newly-renovated "state-of-the-art HVAC system" requires every room to specify the same thermostat mode (heat or cool), and they warn you that if anyone changes that mode on their remote, no one's HVAC will work. Moreover, this means that if the hotel is set to "heat", you can't get ANY A/C cooling! Most disappointingly, we stayed two nights and there was no maid service. We had to roust someone to at least provide some fresh towels. If you like rustic accommodations with minimal service or amenities, and are only staying one night, this was cleaner than a Motel 6 for not a lot more.
