The hotel was very clean. Room was quiet and comfortable. Staff was simply incredible, friendly , happy and their warm spirit made for a comfortable stay. I would def reserve a room again. The trek to downtown Charleston was 14 min. I had dinner/drinks at a speakeasy called The Hale House...exceptional. Downstairs was the speakeasy. Great stay in Charleston!

Fantastic location within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Good restaurants, shopping, bars and museums. You cannot beat this location.
The front desk was accommodating with fresh towels (one day our room was not made up) and extra coffee when needed. Parking onsite (right outside our room) was a major bonus for us. We would definitely recommend the Country Inn & Suites.

The hotel appears to be one of the older ones but maintained in excellent condition. Signs on entrance doors face mask required. All staff were wearing face mask. Room was very nice and clean with a small refrigerator and microwave. Adequate parking. Due to COVID they had both inside pool and hot tub closed, as was their traditional breakfast buffet. Instead they had a grab and go breakfast. There was individual wrapped pastry, small containers of milk, individual small boxes of cereal, yogurt, juice, apples and other individual items. They also had small sandwich size paper bags to put your items in.
We had a very nice overnight stay.

Very disappointed in the cleanliness of our room. We had stayed at a different hotel chain within the last week & they had sealed the door to the room with a strip of tape that informed us our room had been cleaned & disinfected. Not so at Country Inn. The carpet in our room was disgusting with multiple stains, including some that I am fairly confident were blood. I am not a person to be easily disgusted, but I did not want to remove my shoes. Mirrors were streaked from improper cleaing. Wall in bathroom had what looked like blood stains on it. Bathroom had 2 rolls of toilet paper that only had about 25% remaining & no spare rolls. Had to call front deck to get more toilet paper. TV channel guide was wrinkled like it had been crumpled up & then reused. None of the channels on the TV matched what was listed on the guide. My daughter found multiple large blood stains on the comforter of her bed. Called front desk to ask for a new comforter & nice lady, whom I assume was the night manager brought us a new one & apologized profusely for the comforter & condition of the carpet. She blamed the condition of the room on a new housekeeper and assured me that she would be fired because of it. She later called our room to inform us that she was giving us a $15 discount due to the conditions. Too little, too late. We had an extremely bad experience with a different Country Inn in the past, but decided to give the chain another chance. I can say for sure after this visit that we will never stay at another Country Inn.

The hotel was okay. Stayed very beginning of August 2020
PROS: The hotel overall was pretty clean. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. We stayed in a suite which had plenty of room.
CONS: The carpet however was stained and sticky, the pull out couch and arm chair didn’t look clean had stains on them and felt sticky. The foot Ottoman had a burn hole init. In the bathroom the one light was burned out. The room had a musty smell when the air conditioning was running and ever now and then it would smell like cigarettes. There was no towels or soap in our room when we called front desk they said towels were being washed and they would send up when done in 2 hours. Pretty bad when we have to go buy our own towels to shower with, soap and toilet paper. The pool area needed cleaned, water was all over the floor, there was no place to sit or put belongings and you only get 1/2 hour to swim. The area the hotel is in is not good, homeless people at the closed down restaurant outside (along with other things happening). The hotel behind ( econo lodge) seemed very shady.
Definitely will not be returning to this hotel if I need to travel that way again.

We arrived over an hour after check-in began. After completing our paperwork (check-in needs to be modernized) we and others were told that they had to go upstairs to find rooms that were clean or almost ready. So we waited while someone went upstairs to locate rooms for all of us who needed checked in. After a few minutes we were told that they were finishing up cleaning the room but it shouldn’t be long. Some minutes later we were all told that the key card machine was broken so we waited some more while they tried unsuccessfully to fix it. At another customer’s suggestion, an employee told us they would let us all into our rooms and we could pick up the key cards later. When we met the employee at our room on the third floor, it was still being cleaned. The housekeeper said she told the desk she needed 15 more minutes, but they told us the room was ready. We waited until she finished cleaning the room, dropped our things off, and went out for dinner. When we came back from dinner, the key card machine was fixed so we picked up our keys for the room. When we got into the room, we noticed that we didn’t have any bath towels, so we went down to the office to get them. After about an hour, a man and his sons were trying to get into our room because they had been assigned the same room as us. The desk clearly had no reliable tracking system of knowing the status of their rooms - clean, not clean, occupied, not occupied. It was a very disappointing experience, and we were never offered anything for the inconvenience we experienced.

I stayed at here due to business needs and "good" reviews.
Cons: Room was barely cleaned. The bathtub had hair everywhere and the bathroom floor. The toilet wasn't scrubbed. The room had a faint cigarette odor upon walking in. The desk looked like someone wasted juice on it and wasn't wiped clean. The refrigerator still had food in it from the previous guest. The microwave reeked of cleaning products (i.e. pine sol, fabuloso, etc.), It ruined my food. Couldn't use it for the rest of my stay. The couch and ottoman had crumbs on it. Carpet wasn't vacuumed and heavily stained. The dryer broke down and the staff had no urgency to get it fixed. However, they offered to dry my clothes in housekeeping's laundry room and then told me not to tell anyone. So I opted to find a laundromat 30 minutes away. The walls are paper thin and my door had a hard time closing completely.
Pros: Right by the interstate and the AC blew cold.

We stayed at this hotel one night during a drive from Florida to Michigan. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our travel ($220 for one night with taxes) and was the most unpleasant hotel.
The hotel was obviously going through some kind of remodel, the entire parking area in front of the hotel was roped off. This compounded the issue that the parking lot is also shared by the Holiday Inn hotel and there was very little parking available.
The floor in the lobby and breakfast area was being re-tiled, but the lobby was still accessible. Breakfast area was not accessible and the eating area was moved to their meeting room down the hallway. Breakfast was very poor, not sure if this was due to the remodel or not. Crock pot of sausage gravy with individually wrapped, cold buttermilk biscuits was the only hot food available. Cold cereal was there, but there was no milk. There was also no juice(s) available, only coffee.
We were traveling with a pet and were assigned a room on the first floor. Not sure if this was a "pet" room, but the floor was very dirty and looked like they had cut our squares of the carpet and replaced with other pieces of carpet. The carpet was frayed all around the replaced areas and there were multiple stains in other areas. Just because I am staying with a pet does not mean that I expect to have a dirty, less maintained room. Room rate is the same with or without a pet, I actually had to pay $25 extra to have the pet. There was no good area for our dog to relieve himself, even though this is a pet friendly hotel. Had to walk to across the hotel parking lot to an adjoining business to find any grass.
The bathroom only had two towels (all other hotels during travel had 4) and only one bar of soap. We asked for another bar of soap to use in the shower and staff made a comment no one was putting two bars of soap in rooms anymore, but did provide us with an additional one (all other hotels had a bar of soap on the sink counter and one for the shower).
I only had interaction with the desk clerk during check-in and he was pleasant and friendly. There was no staff in the "breakfast" area while I was in there.
Overall, I think the front lobby and the original breakfast area look very nice and inviting, but the particular room I was assigned was not some place I would ever like to stay again. The room looked more like a room for $50 than $220.
I would recommend finding an alternative place to stay if you are looking for something in that area.

Thank you for writing a review. We are delighted to hear that you were pleased with the front desk staff. On the other hand, we are saddened to know that your experience was anything less than satisfying due to the overall condition and cleanliness of the room, facilities and parking lot, the concern you had with breakfast and the price at that time. As we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable hotel experience, we are sorry that we failed to meet your expectations. We hope that you will reconsider and give us another chance to provide you with an experience that is truly excellent in all aspects.

My wife and I stayed at the Country Inn Charleston South in late July 2020. Our stay wasn't bad, but there was definitely some room for improvement.
Pros: Bed was comfortable, the size of the suite was very nice. Decent selection of breakfast items (even during Covid-19 times).
Cons: There were two TVs in the suite but only one of them had a working remote (to be fair, the gentleman who tried to fix it was very nice and pleasant), we couldn't connect to the WiFi from any location in the hotel including the lobby, our room smelled like cigarette smoke despite it being a non-smoking hotel.

Called two weeks prior to arrival on 8/4/2022, made reservation for 3rd floor backside of the hotel for a one night stay. Arrived at 4:30 PM and was told that no rooms were available on 3rd floor due to housekeeping delays. Settled for a 2nd floor room on the backside of the hotel. Pool is on the backside of the first floor underneath the upper 2 floors. Had been on the road for about 8 hours at this point, just wanted to get into the room, cool off for a few minutes and catch my breath. To plug in the chargers for our phones, I pulled out the night stands to access the electrical plugs, what a mistake! Piles of garbage behind both. The rooms are vacuumed but not cleaned. Light bulbs were burned out, one tv remote had dead batteries, Shower curtain rod has been pulled out from the wall on the shower end, just resting on the plastic wall inserts instead of being secured to the wall. If you put any weight on the shower curtain or the rod, it would have come out of the wall. If you are looking for a nice hotel for about $100 per night, this is not it. I agree with the comment from the Traveling Twins Review about the WiFi, spotty to say the least, potentially opening yourself to spam access. You can find a better hotel within 10 miles of this location, still in Charleston. Could have been the local weather, but it was too hot in the hallways and the breakfast bar location to eat. Would have brought these concerns to the on-duty manager, but she was to concerned with showing pictures from her phone to housekeeping staff. She did not inquire about our stay at all! I was going to add the pictures of the trash behind the night stands, but this website cannot support photos taken with an iPhone.
