Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here after a week in Virginia Beach on our way home. What a gem!! Clean, comfortable and great staff. Shout out to Alyiha who greeted us with a friendly smile and information (from the a**h**e). Micheal helped us in the morning when we learned of a massive backup on the interstate that would have put us behind schedule by 3 or more hours. His suggestions actually cut about an hour off of our next day travel plans. would definitely stay here again.

This Sleep Inn is exceptional in so many ways it is difficult to know where to begin. Our family group had four rooms and everyone agreed that their stay could not have been better. Rooms were bright and spotless. The staff was genuinely interested in making our stay pleasant. At the front desk, Jennifer constantly displayed the kind of real hospitality that can't be trained by a corporate class - it just comes naturally for a few people. She is a credit to Sleep Inn. Covid precautions were well-thought out and gave a sense of security without being intrusive. The property, staff and amenities were far more impressive than expected for a "budget" accommodation.

Stayed here for the weekend and felt like I was staying with family! Front desk staff is so friendly and sweet! Rooms are small but very clean. As soon as I walked in I could tell from the scent it was freshly cleaned.

Can’t wait to stay here again!

I actually feel a bit guilty about writing an average review on this property, but the room was really a problem that cannot be overlooked. I elected to provide a 2.5, rounding up.

Our family arrived after 10 PM and was very tired from an afternoon and evening on the road. Staff was exceptional on getting us quickly checked in so we could get to the room and bed down in preparation for a 545 AM departure. My son needed a tooth brush and they accommodated at the front desk during check in.

The room key opened without a hitch. An immediate odor struck us all upon entering. It was not foul, but WOW! The odor was a thick musty smell. With it now pushing 1030 we dealt with it. The room was adequate, but dated and was commiserate with the price range of the room.

Everything was clean in our double including sheets. The mattress and pillows passable. The plumbing worked fine, but the air seems to struggle during our mid August visit.

They offered a FREE breakfast however we left prior to it being available.

Our van was loaded loaded with everything for moving my son into college and there was no issue with security thankfully. This was huge!

So the final score as previously stated is a 2.5 and I'm rounding up with super friendly desk staff and secure parking lot. The big negative is the musty room. It's impossible for me to know if this issue runs throughout the hotel. I would not return.

We stayed here several years ago for a few nights and I remembered I loved our stay. We stayed here again for a few nights and the walls/door was paper thin. Several times we were woken by loud cars/motorcycles leaving, desk staff talking or some sort of alarm going off within the hotel. The room was fairly clean but it definitely could have been cleaner. Bedsheets and towels had stains. Pillows were a bit flat. There was dirt/stains on the curtains. I had a bug in my arm in my sleep. It wasn't a bedbug, maybe a spider or silverfish? It was squished before it could be indentified. We didn't sleep well any night due to noise. We did ask for additional wash cloths as we had only been given one set and they gladly got them for us and the desk staff were friendly. We didn't eat any of the breakfast but it did smell good (we had plans everyday to eat breakfast with friends). Not sure what they could do about the noise, but I would suggest to the hotel to replace stained bedding and towels and maybe do a better job at cleaning.

This is truly the best bang for your buck I've seen in a long, long time! If I could give more stars, I would. The two people at the desk were very nice, the room, although not a suite, was very nice. What really surprised me and put them over the top in customer service was the food they served at 6pm. They gave us each a bowl of delicious vegetable beef soup, along with cookies and popcorn. I don't know if this happens every night, but we stayed there on a Tuesday night and didn't even need to go out for dinner. The breakfast was also "more" than any of the other 9 Choice hotels we stayed in on this trip. Besides the regular hot foods, they also had potatoes on the hot bar and cut fruit in a bowl -- very nice!! This place deserves it's "exceptional" rating!

We stayed one night at this Sleep Inn in order to break our long drive home from Nashville into 2 days. It is just outside of Charleston, so away from the busiest areas and a bit less expensive. Very convenient from the exit ramp. We found the hotel and our room to be clean and comfortable. I am very sensitive to offensive smells (smoke, musty odors, etc. and had NO issues with this at all). It's a small room but served our needs for a one night stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Homemade cookies and small popcorn bags available at all times as well as coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate. We had dinner at the restaurant located in the adjacent parking lot ... again, not fancy but tasty food (I enjoyed a chopped salad while my husband had "breakfast" for dinner). The continental breakfast at the Sleep Inn in the morning was fresh, hot and constantly being monitored and refreshed and refilled promptly. Plenty to choose from for anyone's preferences (fresh made waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, cereal, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and more). This area was very clean as well. And the morning staff was also helpful and friendly as well. We would not hesitate to stay here again should the need arise.

I wanted to stay near the casino/dog track and saw the favourable reviews of this Sleep Inn and enjoyed another Sleep Inn, and this Sleep Inn didn't disappoint. It isn't exactly within walking distance of the dog track (the races were cancelled unfortunately) and I still went to the casino. The hotel is very convenient to the interstate on a hilly road and there are several restaurants nearby. I was on the first floor and the bathroom in my room was HUGE (it may be accessible). The bed was comfortable and there was a bar in the room (bring your own) which was cool. The room was very clean. Pool was open but busy, so I didn't go in; it opens at 9 am and I would have liked to go in like at 7 or so, but I think it's a Sleep Inn chain thing (the one in WA opened at 9 too). Breakfast was served by attendant and she was prompt and worked hard. I didn't care for sausage (undercooked). Staff at check in and out were pleasant. I liked this Sleep Inn.

A Sleep Inn is usually considered a budget hotel, and it was a budget price but above budget quality. The breakfast area was neat, clean well stocked with a free full breakfast. Free coffee, cookies and popcorn available in the lobby all day. Free newspapers in the lobby, along with a computer and printer. Also a sitting area with an in-wall fireplace. Lobby, hallways, stairways and rooms all clean, updated. No funny smells or stains anywhere. The staff was super friendly. Almost no wear and tear, its seems to be well cared for. No hallway noises or yelling kids. I had a single queen bed. Nice new LG 42" TV on wall, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Nice size 3'x4' shower. Wireless internet worked perfectly. I stayed 3-2-2020 and paid $98/night.

This hotel was very clean and appeared to be well maintained. The beds are comfortable and there were adequate linens for the bath and beds. The breakfast was handled by a lady who would have given you anything you wanted. All you had to do was ask and she fixed and brought it to the door for you. You could eat at a separate table or carry to your room. Check in and out was good and the staff friendly. I would stay here again.

I'm sorry, but we no longer have smoking rooms at our Sleep Inn. We do have a very nice gazebo for smokers, at the end of our building and overlooking the river.
