We stayed here for one night in a deluxe cabin and the location and view were great! We had a beautiful view through the huge windows to part of the beach and the stacks offshore. It was a very short walk to get to the beach and there was plenty of beach to walk on (and it is a very pretty beach).

Our room was very large - huge living room with fireplace and all the windows. It has a small table and there was a small patio with chairs out front. There is a small galley kitchen. The bedroom was separate and large and the bathroom was very large with a jetted tub and shower.

The bathroom provide shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, but no soap.

The air conditioning was not great. We had trouble getting it to cool down (thankfully it was not that hot outside and cooled down at night). Despite all the windows, there were very few that could be opened to let in the outside air.

The bed was okay - it is just a mattress on a high metal frame. The mattress was okay, but the frame makes noise whenever you moved

The room was quiet - we had no issues with noise during the evening.

Parking was easy - you get to park right by your cabin.

The coffee in the room was awful - filters that didn't match the coffee pot well (so very watery).

For the size and features of the room and the fantastic view, I thought the price was not bad at all. For that reason, I give it 5 stars despite the issues I mention above. We would have happily stayed a few more nights.

Good day KDAA - Thank you for taking the time out of your day to review our Resort. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and of course always welcome the praise of our "phenomenal location". The mattresses and beds were just purchased a year ago - would love to know which unit you slept and am wondering if the bedframe doesn't need to be tightened up? Soap and coffee filters are provided, and I will follow up with our team to make sure they are double checking those details. My apologies that those items were missing when you checked in. We do not have air conditioning in any of our units as typically even in the summer months high temperatures are in the 70's and a couple days a year, we may hit 80. Thank you for staying with us and bringing to light some areas we can improve. Warmest regards -

We stayed for 5 nights on the second floor (king suite) of the Thunderbird building. The room has a full bathroom (you can soak comfortably in the tub) as well as a second vanity with large drawers for clothes, full sized mirror and lighting just outside the bathroom door. The king bed was comfortable with nightstands, touch lamps and a smart radio w/usb ports. Lined curtains nearly blackout the room with ties to expose each window to the breathtaking views when you wake. We always travel with a white noise machine and suggest it if you’re a light sleeper. We slept great after days of exploring the beaches and all the wonders of ONP. Beach 2 and 3 really are spectacular! The full sized refrigerator and stove and everything you could need to prepare a hearty breakfast or baking some local black perch is there for use. Glass baking dishes, sheet pan, a set of pots and pans with lids and service for 4 dishes, cups and glasses as well as silverware and a set of knives with scissors are there. A toaster, coffeemaker, even salt and pepper are on the counter. Dish soap, sponge, cloth and towels are provided. There is a coin laundry in a nice building just a short walk near the campground. It is a very peaceful low key quiet place to rest. The sounds of the ocean, the birds, and omg the sunsets! We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and were given lots of suggestion for places to visit. Don’t miss the restaurant on site. The food is delicious! We drove from the SeaTac airport so we stocked up on groceries in Port Angeles on our way. There is a convenience market with gas on site that also would have anything you may have forgotten and a quick bite to eat with coffee. We can’t say enough about the resort and we feel honored to have been able to stay on the beautiful Quileute Oceanside!

140darlenes - WOW - what an incredible testimonial of our Thunderbird Hotel! Thank you for your thoughtful, inclusive review. I am sure your description will be very helpful for others that are looking to plan a trip to visit us. If peaceful, quiet and unsurpassed beauty are your thing - we highly recommend a visit mid week in the off season to truly experience the power of mother nature during a storm. All seasons are magical here - but mid week tranquility during a big surf storm is pretty remarkable. Thank you again for staying with us! Hope to have you again as returning guests!

This was our first trip to the west coat of Washington and there are not a lot of good options so we rented cabin 22 which was at the point. The rooms are large with large windows and exceptional view of the very cool beaches. Our cabin had a small kitchenette and decent size bathroom. I was not wild on the mattresses although my wife liked it.

My only real gripe is you need TVs and Internet in the rooms especially in this location that has zero cell coverage. NO reason in this day that with Starlink the rooms are not wired for internet.

Good day DarienJim - Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us. We have taken many polls from or guests who return year after year and they love the fact that they get to get back to connecting with loved ones and nature and don't want the TV's in the rooms. We do provide Starlink internet service at the Resort office and coffee stand if you need to get connected. It is true that Verizon is the only cell phone carrier that works in our beautiful, remote location. Thank you for staying with us. warmest regards -

I just got back from driving 4 extra hours out of my way because there was a mistake made with my room reservation. They told me I booked a cabin without a shower and my confirmation didn't match what they gave me. When I asked they acted confused and the guy that said he was the manager told me and I quote "I can give you a refund but I won't."
I was trying to have a weekend with just me and my daughter, and every hotel was booked I had to drive back to Seattle and I lost money. Frankly the whole staff was rude and seemed bothered by us even before I discovered it was the wrong room.
This doesn't seem right to me.

Good day Miss Durant - It must have been very frustrating to have to drive all the way back to Seattle. Summertime on the Olympic Peninsula is a very busy time and most places are sold out all summer long. I did research your reservation and see that you had made it back in Jan on the 6th at 8:45am for a Cold-Water A frame Cabin via our online reservation system and a confirmation letter was sent to you at that time. You were assigned to the exact Cabin type that you booked. I do see that you spoke to our staff on the day of your check in that you were unhappy with not having a shower in your unit and that we do not have wi-fi - however all of that information was in your email confirmation. I can assure you whenever our staff makes an error we go above and beyond to fix it for our guests. In Your case - you made the reservation, and you were assigned to the unit that you booked, and we were completely sold out and unable to move you to something different. I empathize with you that you felt you had to drive all the way back to Seattle - and didn't have the weekend you had hoped for. Please do feel free to reach out to me personally to discuss further or to make a reservation directly with me rather than the internet as we have many different lodging options here to fit any budget. Yours in hospitality -

This is wonderful place to stay. We chose a one bedroom with full kitchen. Electric fireplace, whirlpool tub, great views through very large windows, even a little patio. And peaceful...no TV, no phone, no radio. You're off the grid. We were told there was no internet but we did get a little bit of coverage. There is a restaurant in the very small town, but it was closed when we were there in late September. Lodgers should bring their own food (the kitchen is well equipped), or be prepared to drive 30 or so minutes each way to Forks where there are options. The beach, just steps from our door, is spectacular, wild and untamed in any weather. Loaded with driftwood, and spankingly clean. No trash or human junk at all. Its a little pricey, but worth it.

My favorite place on earth! What a beautiful place to stay. I will continue to book here over and over and over again. It's serene, next to all the outdoor recreation of Olympic Natl. Park. La Push beach is absolutely beautiful. Less rocky than other beaches along the Olympic Coast. I love just sitting and watching the waves for hours.

If you're a solo/couple traveler, cabin 29 is simple, but has everything you need. A full kitchen and bathroom, bed, and dining table. There's a porch with chairs and an ocean view. I stayed there in Sept. 2024 and even saw a whale from the porch (bring binoculars!).

I stayed in cabin 18 in November with the Storm Watcher package. 18 is a deluxe cabin, and definitely has nicer features than 29. I attached pictures of #18 (studio deluxe). I think the views, fireplace, and huge windows make this cabin worth the money. It was less crowded and more peaceful in Nov., if you don't mind the cold, windy, rainy weather (my personal preference).

If you plan on staying indoors and watching the storms/enjoying the views, I recommend splurging on the deluxe cabin. If you really just need a place to stay during your adventure and the fanciness doesn't matter to you, go with the standard cabin. Either way, you can't go wrong. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and check in/out was simple and easy. I can't say enough good things about this resort! Absolutely recommended.

We stayed in the Whale motel unit for 3 nights at the end of June. The room was advertised as a 2 bedroom, which I booked for my husband and I plus my brother and his wife. The downside: it's not 2 bedrooms, it's 2 beds separated by a partial wall. I would have booked different accommodations if I had known this. Luckily I brought earplugs to muffle the sound of my brother's snoring!
In spite of this bump - we had a lovely time. The building is right on the beach with a lovely view. It was so nice to sleep with the windows open and hear the waves. The unit had everything we needed to cook our breakfasts and dinners.
We hiked down to Second Beach - which is my favorite beach in Washington. On the other two days we went to Rialto Beach and hiked along the Bogachiel River. All in all it was a great trip.

Good day Flomd - Thanks for taking the time to write a review. You are correct all of our rooms in the Whale motel have two beds but not private bedrooms. We do have private bedrooms in our Thunderbird Motel as well as many 2 bedroom cabin options. Thank you for sharing this information for guests that make reservations online. So glad you got lots of good hiking in during your visit. The Bogachiel River Trail is one of my personal favorites as you can have your four-legged friends with you on this trail to the park boundary. Hope to see you again on a return visit. Take good care - Best regards -

We didn’t have a good experience at this property. While the location and the view from the room met all our expectations, the rest of the experience unfortunately didn’t. We stayed in an upper floor room in the Thunderbird Motel on the third weekend in September. It was clean, albeit spartan in feel, and the balcony provided an excellent view of the beach. However, we were there during a wedding (which we now understand is a regular occurrence here) and had to endure excessive amounts of noise throughout our stay. The wedding party was on the lawn right outside the motel. The music was extremely loud until 22:40 on the night. Our room was also in the middle of all the wedding guests’ rooms, which meant there was constant movement in and out of rooms, banging and shouting late into the night. We couldn’t get any sleep or rest. I gave this feedback on check out, but the person working was disinterested, did not offer an apology, seemed affronted that we didn’t enjoy our stay, and only said “Oh, I didn’t know there was a wedding’. We were also not told about the wedding upon check in or how close our room was to the event. Don’t make the same mistake we did, this isn’t a place for relaxation in a beautiful setting. It has a feeling of a party resort where the management don’t care about the experience of their guests. Such a disappointment.

Good day - So sorry to hear about your experience at the Resort, we are by no means "a party resort" and have a quiet time policy of 11pm which is patrolled/enforced by security from 8pm to 8am 7 days a week. I have been the General Manager here for 3 years and that is the 2nd (and now last) wedding that we have had in the 3 years of my tenure. Your comment of weddings being a "regular occurrence" is erroneous and misleading to the general public. The Quileute Oceanside Resort is a pacific northwest treasure to many who return year after year to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the Quileute people and the beautiful natural scenery that is their home. I can assure you that our team here cares very much about the experience of our guests and unfortunately the poor behavior of some can sometimes ruin the experience for others. Please do feel free to contact me any time if you care to elaborate further with the manager. respectively yours in service -

We stayed in the hotel part that was just renovated. Here’s our experience.
Clean large and comfortable bed.
Issue: why would they have captain beds? You have to climb in using a step stool. I would think it might be a fall hazard. Just unnecessary and people may not be able to climb in.
Don’t expect luxury. No internet or phone or TV.
Towels were threadbare. Seriously…hanging threads and mats in bad shape too. Should be an easy fix.
Saturday morning the little food hut wasn’t open.
Pictures on the walls were randomly placed. That was the funniest part. I would have moved them if I had a screwdriver and nails. The pictures were very light weight and hung with drywall screws over kill. The picture in the bathroom was of a tool randomly placed too. Never did figure out what it was.

Greetings K8382BOrobins - We love our new furniture package and specifically picked higher beds so you can see the beautiful crashing waves from the comfort of your bed. We get many compliments about our comfy beds. No TV's, no phones, no internet you are correct. We do offer complimentary internet by the office and at the coffee stand. Many of our guests are repeat visitors and enjoy the "Disconnect" of the hustle and bustle of the busy World. Our close proximity to nature and the unparalleled beauty of First Beach on the Quileute Nation Land, offers the tranquility that only immersing yourself in nature can provide.  New towels are an ongoing item that we provide - sorry to hear that you experienced towels that should have been taken out. Will certainly remind the team to replace at every opportunity. All of the photos throughout the property are inductive of the rich history and culture of the Quileute People. All of our rooms feature a hardback Copy of "Our Land, Quileute Territory" book that gives you an insight of the rich history and way of life of the Quileute people. The Native Grounds Espresso Stand is usually open 7 days a week 7am to 2pm and features Rain Shadow Roasters Coffee - produced right here on the Olympic Peninsula - sorry that it was closed during your visit. Staffing is a challenge we are working through. Please do feel free to reach out to if you care to elaborate further. It is through constructive criticism that we are able to make changes and improve services for our guests. Yours in hospitality -

We made a reservation for the Oceanside resort through Hipcampmade in April. They had us schefule for different dates than in the confirmed reservation. That took a week and half to get sorted out.

The actual place was not at Ceanside at all! They changed us to Riverview 6 miles away with no view or amenities and very cramped spots on gravel only lot. We got to out assigned spot and it was occupied! We had one space one night and moved to another the last two. This took away one of our days off exploring. Prior to coming I spoke with Jerry or Larry, the manager
he was hard to work with saying Off changed oir reservation, didn't call back, and made no adjustments he said he would. Dorothy was able to get some of it sorted when we went back the 6 miles to Oceanside because someone was in our space. She arranged a partial refund.

We spe to three other campers who had the same experience in reserving for Oceanside and being placed at their newly purchased Riverview (there is no view!). Bait and switch tactics! It's a shame because many people had good experiences with them before. They need to advertise them separately!
