We were coming to the mouth of the Columbia on the Friday after July 4. The state parks were booked weeks ahead, and we expected crowding and congestion. We called River's End to reserve a spot and arrived to have our choice of several. This is a quiet, low-key park with big trees throughout and the Columbia out back. The owners have paid careful attention to maintenance and landscaping. It's an older park with just the basics, but the basics are clean and working. Much of their business is people who rent spaces on a monthly rate throughout the summer, and come when they can get away to fish. So even when it's busiest, many units are unoccupied. The owners are friendly and polite, and the price is very reasonable--better than the state or federal campgrounds (we paid around $17 including tax). They don't take credit cards, but do take a personal check. The showers take quarters, which is understandable with the pricing they offer. We stayed in a teardrop trailer, so can't speak to how it would work out for large rigs. Considering how crowded and noisy the area was that weekend, this was a welcome oasis! We will return there, hopefully to fish this time.

My Uncle Walt Hansen and his family first built the River's End Campground back in about 1977 to 1980 or there about anyway. We had our Hansen Family reunion's there several times. There are a lot of Hansen's to accomodate! Uncle Walt and Auntie Ester made sure everything was abslutely perfect. He eventually sold the campground and Uncle Walt has passed on, but the new owners have kept it up to his expectations. I believe Uncle Walt still watches over it everyday. It's truly a great place for all.

Came in with no reservation having only a car & pup tent. Wifi, clean restrooms/showers/w/s/g for under $16 a night. Needed this for 10 days awaiting word of a job and couldn't afford pricey motels. Besides which, my car and tent are much cleaner than most motels! The hosts here were friendly, helpful and the price was right. If you have an RV that's even better. Quiet neighborhood and the river/ocean are a few steps away. Most of their tenants are fishermen and very well behaved.

I have read a few recent reviews about this RV park campground. We spent a few summers here, but have moved on to another place like many others. Other reviews mention the owners being drunk nightly and using very foul language to other guests. Yes, we also observed these same behaviors mentioned in other reviews ie.Yelp We also left for these reasons. We found this park was an uncomfortable place to stay. Rules are inconsistent, and you always feel as if your every move is being scrutinized. Prices are very high, with extra charges for everything. This is NO internet, which doesn't work for people who spend the entire summer there to conduct necessary business such as banking etc. No working cable or satellite for tv. You may Be able to pull in a few stations on regular antenna unless you are in the trees as most sites are. Only 30amp service at sites and only a few sites have a sewer system. Rules are very extensive and posted on signs at every turn, especially in the bathroom. On the plus side the park is clean and a few sites have water views. We really like the park , but couldn't deal with the owners and the way they treated other people. One moment they were nice, and the next they were screaming and cussing someone out. Easier for us to leave the drama and enjoy our summers at a different park. Really quite sad, as they have a good thing going there, but have few "people skills."

This is a great place to stay if you want some peace and quiet. Jean and Don do a very good job of managing the property. Jean is very personable but Don is not. I think he is burned out or just tired of dealing with customers....so if you ignore him (like he does you) you'll be fine. Bathrooms are spotless and all amenities needed to have an enjoyable stay. Wireless internet only works part time.Nightly happy hour by the office is fun to meet people and visit. Place is for sale.

We were back again for a great May visit to our favorite campground. I read that one reviewer complained about the owners & the lack of cable TV & the wifi. Don't know what campground they were in, but not the beautiful place we stayed at with wonderful owners Don & Jean. They have always been welcoming & friendly & Jean has the best laugh in the world!!!
True, there is no cable anymore, but we got about 14 channels on just our trailer antenna. If we wanted cable & wifi & all the other intrusions you try to avoid while camping, we would have stayed at a motel, which is where I advise these naysayers to stay.
This is a beautiful, quiet, immaculate place with breathtaking sunsets over the Columbia River. They do have long term campers in July & August, who have been coming there for years & years. So what? More power to them for having such a wonderful place that people love. Just plan your vacation accordingly.
The location in Chinook, Wa. is just a few miles from the bridge into Astoria, Or. Fishing & boating is the big thing, but with lots of other attractions in both directions to entertain you. We will definitely be back whenever we can.

Beautiful grounds, but the owners make it NOT worth the stop!!! Owners can be very rude, loud, and change the rules on a whim for different people. NO cable TV, internet barely works, and owner turns it off if she thinks someone is streaming a movie. Lots of extra upcharges: i.e. freezer, heater, boat, more than 2 occupants, etc. Sewer hookup only at limited sites and sites are only 30amps. KOA is only another mile down the road.

Fishing community, most are long term tenants. We were very lucky and snuck a week long stay in between reservations. The park is extremely well maintained by Don and Jean, they are perfect host/owners. Felt like family after a week, we cannot wait to return.

We loved this spot. The owner not only answered his phone within the first attempt, but was super friendly and helpful! Last minute we were unable to find a campsite and boy did he set us up with an amazing view! Our tent opened up to the view, within feet of the beach. The fellow campers and RVs were friendly and quiet. The site was clean and well kept. Although it's off the beaten path, easily able to access the essentials. We would go back in an instant!

We spent the Memorial Day weekend at this campground. While it wasn't full it was easy to see that the sites were nicely sized, grassy and level. The campground is beautifully maintained and the owners are very friendly and personable. The bathrooms are spotless and well maintained. We will definitely be back!!
