The kids had a blast at the waterpark. The room was basic and clean. The dinner buffet was fine. Service was friendly and fast. My only issue is that for the price paid for a single night, it would be nice if more were included. Everything aside from the room and waterpark is an extra charge and quite substantial per kid. Walking around with a magic wand is near $40 per child. A single climb on the ropes course is about $15 per kid. The dinner buffet is reasonable for kids but expensive for adults. Breakfast is not included. Plan to either tell your kids “no” or drop near a grand on a single night.

Always a great visit!! We go about every 6 months try to enjoy both winter and summer time. Check in is very easy and you can arrive early to enjoy the water park for even more extra hours. We stayed 1 night in a family suite that occupied 8 people which is very comfortable for the space it gives you. Room was clean, resort was clean.
My only real observation that I would recommend is updating the bathrooms or adding additional to the opposite side of the water park. For the amount of people inside the water park it is kinda unrealistic to only have a 5 bathroom stall and a family restroom that everyone waits in line for because the bigger one is kinda hidden. This will not stop us from returning but it is something that needs to be considered.

We stayed here over the memorial holiday weekend with my 3 yo toddler. Check-in was delayed by about an hour but it was a busy weekend and we waited to get a room with the patio that is not obstructed by the ongoing renovations. I found the app to be really a great way to communicate with hotel staff. They were very responsive to any questions or needs. My son loved the indoor and outdoor water park. He also very much enjoyed all the kids activities and getting a pair of wolf ears. He saw the kids doing the magic quest and was enthralled. We got him the basic wand and it was activated to do the mini magi mode which was perfect as he loved going through the hotel and doing “magic” where the items were interactive. The room was spacious and my son really liked the wolf den bunk bed room. It’s great that there is a fridge. The pull out sofa couch is not very comfortable and the biggest issue is the WIFI is terrible, essentially non-functional and is the main reason for 4 stars. I feel that this is the biggest issue management has to work on. Especially when you promote use of an app to communicate and order food etc. Otherwise, the staff were all great. You have to request any room service or fresh linens but this is super easy through the app. We did the breakfast package which includes the breakfast buffet and is convenient to not have to go somewhere else to find breakfast. My 3 yo son was young enough to eat for free which is great. There is a Dunkin’ Donuts for those who want something small or just coffee. We did order the family pizza meal for dinner which came with a lot of food and a 2L soda for a reasonable price and it was pretty good. Otherwise there is a great BBQ place just down the road and the hotel location is very convenient to local restaurants, colonial Williamsburg, and Busch gardens. We had a fun time and my son already wants to go back.

Charging for a section of table and chairs in the water park is ridiculous. Room prices are high and should include ALL seating in the water park. They have conveniently reduced the number of table and chair areas in the water park from last year while charging for a section of seating. Rooms, hallways, all common areas, and water park areas are always in need of more thorough and frequent cleaning. Over all 12 years this remains the case. Tired, worn out furniture, carpet, Maji Quest areas all need attention are refurbishing. For the price charged the expectation bar is higher than what is being achieved. Gimmicks in the arcade. Beware. You may get all the character cards but you’ll need a star too. We got 9 sets and only two stars. Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse it does. We booked the Grizzly Suite and they wanted $100 more over the 2 night stay to occupy the room with the 8 guests the room holds. What!!!??? That put Saturday nights rate at almost $700. This is NOT the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The sofa bed was not made up and there was not enough linens in the room to adequately make the bed. We had to call down for them. But they wanted an extra $100 for the room to be occupied and necessary to use this bed. The food is always poor quality and the idea of a buffet in cold and flu season is off putting. We try and go back gritting our teeth hoping it’s better and it only gets worse and worse as they give you more of the dirty, worn out same and figure ways to charge more for the things that should be included or gimmicks to make more money and left us feeling taken advantage of and having experienced anything but value.

We were invited to check in online ahead of time and we did. We got a message saying they looked forward to seeing us at 4 pm for check in. We arrived at 5 pm and were told the rooms were not ready and they weren’t sure when they would be ready. I showed them the message they sent me that said they looked forward to seeing us at 4 and their response was “check in does not mean you get your room right away.” Ummm that is actually the definition of check in! So to make up for it they said we could check out Sunday at 2 instead of 11. They then texted us Sunday morning reminding us of check out and when I confirmed 2 pm they said they could only do 1.....WTH. The kids beds are hard as a rock and the whole place is dirty. I saw kids coughing over the breakfast buffet (hello COVID 19?). The water park is entertaining but our kids would have been fine with a day instead of a weekend. On Sat they didn’t clean our room so I asked at 5 pm if they could take our trash, give us fresh towels, etc and they did but why did we have to ask? Also I got a massage. It started 15 mins late and ended right on the hour, but I paid for an hour. This place needs serious management training and customer service training for staff. The best thing about this place are the life guards who are seriously on point and take their jobs very seriously.

Apparently in the fine print it somewhere it says that the hotel does not provide housekeeping unless requested. We got back after being gone from 1 pm to 10 pm and the garbages hadn't been emptied, beds hadn't been made, towels hadn't been changed. I feel that with the price that they are charging for the rooms they should provide housekeeping. Or at least it should be explained at check in that they are unlike any other hotel in the world and don't provide any housekeeping services.
Wouldn't every reasonable guest want to be informed of this upon check in?
Also, we took two towels back from the water park to our room so our 1 year old wouldn't get cold in the hallway.
When checking out early the next morning before driving to the airport, I returned the towels to the desk but was told that unless I waited until 9 am to check them in to the water park, I would be charged for the towels. I couldn't wait until 9 am because I would miss my flight. So I left the towels with the desk but was still charged $41.24.
How is that fair to the customer? Pure robbery.
Why be so petty?

We only vacation here because of how wonderful the staff is in every department in being accepting of my son with Autism. Our entire family loves being able to be only 30 minutes from home and yet forget about the outside world while inside the resort.
The room we always choose is the Grizzly Bear Suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms because of the space. Our room always is clean, smells clean, and has everything we need upon arrival. We have had one small issue in 3 years of coming here, which maintenance responded to within 10 minutes (Taylor, Steve, & Adam) to fix the door issue. Housekeeping is consistent each day, and I feel like I am living the good life because of the pampering.
The first impression is the front desk, and those men and women always have a smile on their faces to greet each guest. We have had the pleasure to see many faces upon return trips and would like to give a special shout out to Michelle Piteo, Derek Vance, Dominique, Monica, Ashley, Destiny, Jasmine, Angela, Shaheem, and any of the amazing faces I didn’t name. Thank you for always being happy!
The food is wonderful and worth at least experiencing the buffet for breakfast and dinner once. Ralph is always making omelets in the morning and happy to be cooking. The biscuits are fluffy and the gravy is like momma makes. Dinner always has carved meats, but the dessert is where it’s at!
This destination is the perfect family vacation spot where you can forget about the world outside!

We had so much fun on our trip- the water park is awesome as advertised, and we had a really great dinner. They do a great job keeping everything sanitary with Covid even at their buffet location, which is more like a chipotle style serving. Chefs Justin and Anton made some amazing Salmon and Ribs, cooked just right with a flavorful glaze. I definitely recommend the buffet. Looking forward to our next trip!

We took our two grandchildren, both celebrating birthdays (5 and 2). We checked in with remarkable ease (our rooms were ready early), unpacked and hit the impressive water park that has something for everyone.
We bought the top level “paw passes” for both kids, tho they are younger than the recommended ages. The activities with that package kept us engaged throughout the weekend when we needed a break from swimming. Build A Bear, bowling, The game Arcade, wands, etc. all a hit. They were too young to visit the 3D theatre, and the staff kindly allowed us to use those credits in the Arcade.
We also got the meal plan that worked beautifully for us. Food was tasty and because it’s buffet, stomachs were well cared for.
It’s a pricey investment for sure but as the grandkids age a bit more, I could see going back someday.

The lodge is great and so is the water park.
But the bad experience happened when we bought the meal package and was still charged an extra $38 for a prepaid breakfast. Waitress said it will come off our bill on checkout.
Front desk said it will come off.
One month later and several phone calls with promises of removing the charge we have still not been reimbursed for the meal that was included in our prepaid package.
Very disappointing!
Poor communication.
Poor service

Yes! Sorry for the delayed response...
No they are not. If you can just get in early (9AM) and claim a table. The cabana we had did not have a functioning safe, one of the water bottles they provided was already open and it was NOISY being so close to the waverider.
The waterpark comes with the room, You buy paw passes for certain things.
