Club Wyndham Kingsgate elicits mixed feelings among guests, with many praising its responsive staff and family-friendly amenities like pools and arcade games. The tranquil atmosphere and cleanliness are often highlighted, alongside its convenient location near attractions. However, some visitors have issues with the aggressive sales tactics, and feel the rooms—despite being spacious—could benefit from updates and better soundproofing. While the value is debated, with resort fees sometimes considered reasonable, maintenance concerns do surface in reviews.

My wife and I booked a week in December at Club Wyndham Kingsgate. Having never stayed at this particular property we only had information from other reviews to guide us. From the moment we checked in the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The unit itself was one of the remodeled units and was very nice. There were lots of activities offered and the very reasonable seven dollar a day resort fee was well worth it. The free video arcade and miniature golf course was a lot of fun. The indoor pool was nice and warm and the location was perfect! It was also very much appreciated that there was no high pressure sales presentation to attend. Thank you for supporting Armed Forces Vacation Club by offering this property to military service members and Veterans. God Bless you and our country.

I booked this hotel through RCI. We are Hilton people and this was not a bad resort, but just not up to our standards. First of all, we could not get a 2-bedroom unit, so we had to settle for a 1-bedroom. Check in was uneventful, but we did not appreciate being invited and pressured to attend an RCI presentation immediately after checking in; we declined. We had not even seen our room yet! The lobby building was very nice, but sadly it did not reflect the condition of our unit. The furniture was a Colonial style, so I know what they were going for, but it just seemed old and dated, and the sleeper sofa was not very comfortable. Also the walls are very thin. We could see light under our door and the lobby area had cobwebs in the corners! The hotel channel on the TV had been turned off, probably because a lot of things were not available, but we were not told anything about housekeeping services and we never received any. We even had to call the first night to get bedding for the sofa bed since there wasn't any in the unit, and the blanket we were given was very thin. Our room was not cleaned the entire week. Having booked pre-Covid, I wanted this resort because it had an indoor and outdoor pool, arcade, mini golf course, and restaurant. So I was disappointed that the restaurant was not open and that our pool access was limited to one 1.5 hour slot each day. The arcade was also closed. I will say that security was responsive on the 3rd consecutive night that our neighbors were playing very loud music and yelling past 2 am. Still, this is not the quality that I am used to, and we will be very careful where we book going forward. I now know the meaning of '3 Star Resort' and will be avoiding it in the future, at least for more than a night's stay. My husband said it was like living in a crappy apartment complex for a week.

Hi Diane - we're disheartened to hear that Club Wyndham Kingsgate was not up to your standards, but we appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. We like to be transparent with our guests in that our resorts do not offer cleaning services, and we're disappointed to hear that this was not communicated to you prior to your stay. Great resort, very friendly staff. Two bedroom unit was very clean and spacious except for the two bathrooms, especially the master bathroom. I can't understand why someone would design a bathroom like this. The toilet was a small cutout directly in front of the walk in shower doors, actually within about two inches preventing entry from one side of the shower. Only issue in the unit was the ice maker and the resort provided bags of ice for us during out visit. Beautiful indoor and outdoor pool and a fun miniature golf course provided with the daily resort fee. Unit was nicely furnished and tastefully decorated with Colonial Williamsburg paintings. Disney style wrist bands allowed access to the unit as well as the activities at the resort. The location was excellent within 1-2 miles of mostly everywhere we visited.

Room was dirty with unclean dish, I had to wash dish. There were trashes in the hallway. There were people on the grill area who turned a loud music at night time and hung out around the door of the building. It felt like not resort but some apartment complex. I certainly would not want to spend money and drive miles to end up in place which resemble apartment. Someone left and piled wet towel outside the door in the hallway. I had noticed bad smell and maybe mold. The pile of towel were left in the same spot for 3 days.

I don't understand why I should pay $95 as a cleaning fee with these dirty environment. very unsatisfied.

When we checked-in, staff introduced and made appointment for the presentation and asked me to deposit $20 refundable. When I came back home, I realized that they charged $20 from my credit card and never gave back. promise broken or oversight?

The sale presentation was good and seemed they are very knowledgeable. I got lots of information of Wyndham VIP Package and they gave me really good deal. Without the worst experience on Kingsgate Wyndham, I would have purchased the Wyndham VIP Package.
I am glad that I hesitated since my overall experience left me feeling does Wyndham deliver what they promise during sale presentation when they can not keep one of their property clean and run efficiently and lets not forget $20 which was not refunded. To me small things matter especially if I have to spend $$$. My experience at other resort around US and Carribean was better with memory that I to this day cherish.

Usually I don't write the review and just delete an email for the request the review. But this time I really feel I need to write my experience for other clients in the future.
This resort was the worst I have ever been.

ps. we decided to leave earlier than originally booked since we, my husband and myself, were not happy with stay at the resort.

We wanted to book a quick getaway at the last minute and decided this place would be great as they had an indoor heated pool, hot tub, game room, and other amenities compared to other resorts in the area. Staff was friendly upon check in. Room was clean and supplied well with the things usually found in a condo like this. i.e. laundry detergent, paper towels, dishes, etc.

There is no supervision in the pool or hot tub area and when my husband and I were there there were little children running in and out of the hot tub area and playing with water bottles in the hot tub leaving caps floating in the water, etc. I understand that parents should be responsible for their children, but when situations like this happen and can cause dangerous things to happen, staff should step in.

We were charged a $6 a night resort fee, which we were told was because they provide movies, free games, activities, etc. and don’t want to have to raise the maintenance fees for the owners so by charging those who stay here this $6 a night, they can avoid this.

Another thing we had to do, even though we are owners, was had to sit through a presentation and have them try to get us to upgrade. We came to vacation and relax, not listen to a sales pitch. We were there for approximately an hour and a half and we really had no interest or intention of doing this. I was a little disappointed we were made to do this, but we did get $125 Amex card as a gift for our inconvenience.

All in all it’s a nice place and I would probably stay again, if I would not be forced to sit through a sales presentation.

This is a super family resort! Plenty of activities: mini golf, 3 pools, arcade, Pickleball, tennis, kids playground, billiards, and a movie theater all in one resort for a small daily fee! 2 bedroom condos with complete kitchen and 2 baths were perfect for our family. Our condo overlooked the pond that had wildlife (fish, turtles, geese, ducks and deer) kept us all entertained! The resort is a centralized location to Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Food Lion (grocery store), and many restaurants. Four stars were due to much needed cleaning and updating: new carpeting, cleaning of hallways, drapery had food stains, air conditioning vents in condos. Friendly staff (Brooke) met all of our “must haves”. She was great! Just know that the hard sell to buy a timeshare was professional and accepted (quickly) that we weren’t interested. Great vacation!

Club Wyndhamd has a policy of checking the rooms prior to assigning them to the owner for a quality check. Not certain whether outsourcing or just poor management of the cleaning crew but there were several issues in our latest stay at the resort. Upon entering the master bathroom, a sink was filled with dirty water, some of the floors were unswept, not to mention the area outside the unit had dust bunnies which remained there for the entire week. The rooms currently have a decor of comfortable furniture that has lasted many years. It could last more if properly cared for but some of the upholdered furniture had soiling stains which could have been cleaned by a damp washcloth and wasn't. The proposal of the new renovations show furniture that appears to look uncomfortable but that remains to be seen. The new decor no longer holds the colonial decor for the resort in the colonial city. Activity fee was charged for each day. The best activity was the sip and paint activity led by one of their activity personnel who did a great job! Other than the hot tub and pools, the miniature golf was a great activity. Bingo was led by an a different activity person who tried to be funny by slapstick humor which seemed to appear to be rude to the visitors. It was annoying the way he interjected as we played bingo and interjecting other numbers which made the game totally confusing. For the price of the activity fee each day the prizes for bingo were not good. As far as the hot tub, there was a youngster about 3 years old unattended at the hot tub and it was apparent that there was no one nearby to check after this child. We just got out of the hot tub and the toddler entered. Makes me feel real uncomfortable had we been in there and he entered the hottub. In addition after paying the activity fee, we found that the gaming rooms had over half of their games down and the number of games were less than previous visits years ago. The additional costs for their activities isn't worth it. Disappointing to see such a nice place not maintaining their standards of the past. The person checkin us in did an excellent job but the concierge not so much. It was like she was going out of her way to issue us our wristband keys. Interesting for a resort who has security gate in the front not securing the entire resort because people in the past have been able enter the resort by the back of the property, In addition, the buildings have access by anyone which makes it less secure.

This is a timeshare resort . Upon checking in was hit with the sales pitch and was notified of a additional charge of $8.00 per night for the use of the Wifi , swimming pool and several other items which I did't use except for the wifi. Beautiful view of 11 heat pumps from our bedroom for the other rooms in the building. Management must house paying customers in one less desirable area to save the other better rooms for members. Surprised I wasn't charged extra for the mice which stayed with us the last two nights was reported to the front desk upon check out had that feeling they really didn't care since I was not a member. Won't be planning any more visits with Wyndham Kingsgate

Kingsgate is an attractive, well maintained property convenient to the historic attractions in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown and close to Busch Gardens and tons of restaurants. Friendly staff. Nice pools, tennis courts and putt-putt. Quiet at night; comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen in 2 BR unit. Some features were closed for Covid (game room and arcade) but that is not the fault of the resort. 3 generations thoroughly enjoyed their stay (2 BR unit for parents and children; adjoining 1 BR unit for grandparents)

The staff was very professional. They took care of our every request. No request was too small. We couldn't locate the smoke suction on the stove. Someone was there in 5 minutes. We needed a dishcloth. A staff member from housekeeping brought over dishcloths. We needed a remote for one of the televisions in the bedroom. Someone delivered remote and showed me how to use it.

I don't know of any shuttle service for the resort (like from Amtrak), but you can call them directly for that information. There is a shuttle bus in the Williamsburg village that circles the entire area with stops at key places. Hope this helps.
