Hotel's Favourite
Had a pretty good stay here even tho the place was packed. There are a lot of local amenities such as a couple grocery stores and a Beall's outlet which had a replacement for a piece of luggage which fell apart.
One downside is there was only one bag cart in the lobby for most of my stay which made me a little concerned there would be none available for checkout. Not sure what happened but another one did eventually show up. I'm grateful this hotel has the real full size bag carts instead of the tiny awful ones with the suit hanger right in your face so you can't see where you're going.
Parking was easy, ventilation was great, bed was comfortable. I'd stay here again.

I had to be in the Smithfield area to deal with an ill family member who later passed away. The management and staff at this hotel extended their well wishes and prayers, and really went out of their way to comfort me during a difficult time.
The exterior and interior of the hotel are well maintained, the complimentary breakfast was just right and it’s situated near shopping and restaurants. I look forward to staying here again in happier times.

The entire staff was polite and attentive, from the front desk to the room cleaning crews. They went above and beyond to ensure we had anything we needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this Smithfield area.

Hugely disappointed is how I would describe our stay at the Smithfield Hampton Inn, September 21st-28th, 2021. My husband is from Smithfield, and we currently live nearly fifteen hundred miles away. Whenever we returns to Smithfield, Hampton Inn has always been his preferred choice of hotels to stay in, as a result, we have stayed at this location for many years.
Upon arrival this time, we were very disappointed with the Smithfield Hampton Inn, because:
Starting with the appearance before walking into the main lobby, the outside windows to the doors were not cleaned, and very murky in appearance.
The luggage rack was broken.
We stayed for seven days, the 3rd floor, ice-maker was broken the entire time; we stayed in Room 325.
My husband had originally planned, and reserved a room within the hotel for an additional week - through the 4th; the amount of cleaning we felt necessary led us to request he be able to keep the same room, rather than change rooms and need to start the cleaning all over again. Ultimately, we canceled his reservation, and paid additional monies for his flight to be adjusted, and he returned early.
The attendant advised us, the hotel was short on help and everything was a mess.
Our sheets to our beds were for a full size bed, not the queen size which was in our room.
Our a/c unit leaked the entire time.
Maintenance brought in a blower to dry the floor on the second day, and it stayed in our room for our entire visit; perhaps because the unit leaked for our entire stay.
The bathroom appeared to have just been used, and in need of ventilation.
The chair for the desk within our room, had stains throughout it, and food crumbs within it. My husband took it to the front desk and asked if it could be replaced, and the attendant examined three other chairs, before returning to him and advising him, "this one is not much better, it has a big stain on the back of it.” The attendant advised, “you could cover it with a towel."
The furniture within our room was dirty to the point, that we used the cover from our beds to cover the furniture.
When we arrived at 5:10 pm our room was not available nor was there any type of discount offered.
The attendant advised us that there was no room available; 10 minutes later, the attendant found a room; thinking back on that situation, I now wonder if that room was out of order; if not it should have been.
We purchased cleaning materials from our personal funds, to clean our hotel room.

Pros:
Brand new
Proximity to I95
Cons:
Proximity to I95 (inadequate windows)
Infuriating TV interface
We have stayed here twice on trips down I95. First time, a month ago, we we were in an “even” numbered room on the front of the building away from I95 and room was fine, noise-wise. Slept fine. Brand new so that is great.
Last night we got an “odd” numbered room which backs up to the highway and they do not have good enough windows to insulate the noise. We didn’t notice initially and I fell asleep. My wife did not sleep well at all.
The motel was not crowded and when we checked out my wife explained the noise and the clerk said “Oh you were in the back.” so they know they have an issue and she said they had quiet rooms open last night. So my wife asked why they wouldn’t fill up the quiet rooms first (she stayed 95 nights in Hiltons last year and is a Diamond member)—clerk responded “That’s not how hotels work.” Well good hotels do, especially if they want their guests to return.
The other issue is the ridiculous TV interface/remote control. I am not sure what brand/vendor it is as there was no logo on the remote or screen, but the remote has no numbers to input channels (nor voice control). The guide button shows the usual: the channels on the left side and the times across the top but instead of the programs in the time blocks it just said “No programming information available” in every block.
So to see what was on (or to just find a channel you wanted), you have to scroll up or down through a long list of channels with no idea (given no channel numbers or channel listing card) if you should go down or up for the channel you want. Incredibly stupid—even if the programs were shown, how is it an improvement to eliminate channel numbers?
There are dozens of alternatives available so we will skip this place going forward and suggest you do the same.

I needed a hotel for a wedding I was going to. There were a few choices to choose from. I chose this as it had an indoor pool. Upon arriving to hotel there were water heaters outside the front doors in shipping boxes. The Friday we got there, we were saddened the pool was closed. The room seemed clean but dust was everywhere and only half a roll of toilet paper was on the roll. We went to sleep and were annoyed due to half of curtin being sheer and the parking lot lights brightening up the room. Then, the next morning the breakfast (scrambled eggs and sausage patty) was cold, even though it was in a chaffing dish. I went back up to the room to take a shower. No hot water. I also woke up and my friend with red puffy eyes. Unsure if they wash the sheets or if it had to do with the feather pilows. No one was at front desk and I was in a hurry to go help set up this wedding. I got back to the hotel and my friend said there was still no hot water. We had to take showers for the wedding and for hygiene purposes as well. We went to wedding where other people were disappointed in not being able to take showers either. We got back to the hotel that night and I asked about the hot water as someone was finally at the desk. This young girl giggled as she said "sorry I forgot to turn it on this morning. It's all good for you to take one now." Anyways, I am very displeased. I tried to reach out to Traveluro but they were horrible and so is this hotel in refusal of a credit or refund. I could have gone to other hotels for less than half the price I paid. I am beyond disappointed and the lack of professionalism the employees at the desk have. The manager was not available when I called down and arrived at desk.

When you check in if you want to use a different form of payment than you reserved your room with check and make sure they don't charge both cards, because they did me and then it took them four days to do anything about it. The hotel was good and the people were nice, but also Willy Wonka type, told me what they thought I wanted to hear over the money issue. I don't do sugar coating so Willy Wonka I'm not.

We have visited Smithfield, VA at least once a year over the past 20+ years. There aren't many places to stay. This used to be one of the better places but not anymore.
At check-in we weren't welcomed or recognized for being a Hilton Honors member. After check in, we were asked, "do you want your water?" Not, "here is your complimentary waters."
Our room was very "weathered". The carpet was stained, the walls had holes that were visibly patched, the full length mirror that covers the closet in Hampton Inns was not there . . . It was not appealing. Was it because we used Hilton Honors points to stay there which made it a free stay?
The gym was unbearably hot/humid.
We were not comfortable at all and hope we won't be forced to stay here again.
Think twice if you are used to Hilton and their friendliness and perfection. This didn't emulate their brand, at all.
I will say that our bathroom was clean and the housekeeper was very nice. But the towels were very thin.
When we were leaving and wanted to check out to make sure we weren't charged for our room, there was nobody at the front desk. They had a sign that said they would be back soon. An hour later, same thing. We called and somebody did appear. This was 5 AM in the morning but it made me feel uncomfortable knowing that somebody could've walked into the hotel while we were sleeping and came up to our floor.

Showers doors were disgusting they wouldn't even slide on the track due to being so corroded. Carpets were wet due to the carpets being just cleaned. Not sure why they would block those rooms off if they were shampooing the carpets. Furniture dirty and stained. Room was way over priced for the condition the room was in. Not what you expect from a Hampton Inn.

My family needed a room on short notice because we worked all day and came home to no running water due to construction workers cutting our water line. We were made aware that there were only smoking rooms available, but given the short notice, I was okay accepting a smoking room. However, we were placed in a room that looked like it had not been cleaned in some time, and it smelled like an ashtray. We could get over the smell, but the filth was like nothing I've ever seen, and our family travels frequently. Dust covered the furniture, and it appeared that some white substance was splattered and dried all over the exterior of the refrigerator, bedside table, and headboards. There were also visible handprints all over the headboards. The desk was greasy, and the furniture was significantly stained. The remote and the informational cards were both sticky. I chose this hotel over the motel right down the street from my home and half the price because of the ratings, and I greatly regret it. When I called the front desk to tell them about the room, they said they would send the manager, but the attendant arrived with a key for the room next door. When I pointed out the dust, she replied, “that's the part they don't clean.” I was utterly stunned at the response and the fact that the manager couldn't be bothered to address the situation. The new room smelled better and appeared somewhat cleaner, but after seeing the filth next door, I had to question the cleanliness of the new space. My daughter and I ended up taking a shower and leaving because we were so uncomfortable and dissatisfied with the lack of response from management. This place has tainted the Hilton name for us. It was a God-awful experience.

Could you please tell me what the view is from a front side room and the view from a back side room.
The rooms are clean and safe.. There's no " view".. Food lion, trees and apartment complex are all you will see.
