Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We would have kept driving when we saw this campground but we were tired from being in bumper-to-bumper traffic all day. We had friendly service from the people who greeted us but it is not a very well maintained campground. The campground is in a beautiful location in the mountains, too bad the facilities are pretty run-down.

Hi. In September, 2019, a group of men and I were in northern VA for another section hike of the AT. We used this campground as our "base camp" and did day hikes, car-to-car for 5 days. We've used this method for most of the AT from the start, but most often was in National Park or US Forest Service campgrounds (which are always nice). This one was very close to the AT crossing of US 50, and in the middle of the sections we were hiking.
But, in spite of the location and relatively cheap price, it was by far the worst campground I've seen.
Reasons:
1. The water provided by spigot at the campsite was undrinkable, so I had to go to the closest Wal Mart to get gallons of water for the trip.
2. The shower and toilet areas were despicable, as you'll see in the pictures. Unless they've drastically improved the water and restrooms, don't stay here!

It's a very simple campground! It seems mostly blue-collar to no collar. Lots of rooms for tents and RV's. I didn't see any 50amp receptacles. It also has two very small lakes. Don't be discouraged by the signs and buildings on the way in! We will be going back!
