Detailed Reviews
This was our third visit to the area and our second stay in Opua. We were so pleased we found this B&B on searching the internet. Sandy and Stewart are lovely people who make you so welcome in their home. Their local knowledge and helpful advise is invaluable.
We booked the King Bed room and have to say it exceeded our expectations. The room was a good size, well equipped and had a wonderful view across the bay. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed breakfast on the deck every morning. The food was excellent, exactly as we had ordered and arrived at the time requested. It was a lovely start to each day.
Cherry Bay Lodge is located in a quiet spot and has access to the beach. Indeed it is a reasonably easy walk along the beach path into Opua, where you can catch the car ferry to Russell.
We have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to fellow travellers and we hope to stay here again on our next visit to the area.

Sandy and Stewart have created an amazing place to stay which we highly recommend. We had a beautiful, well-equipped room (the Kauri Room) with incredible views over the Bay of Islands. They were perfect hosts - providing lots of helpful advice and information on the range of birds, plants and butterflies that inhabit their beautiful garden.

What can we say that hasn't already been said? We spent 10 days over Christmas and New Year (2016) staying at Cherry Bay Lodge and had the best time. From the moment we met Stewart and Sandy (and Ellie of course) we knew we were going to love it there. They made us so welcome it was like being with old friends.
Every morning we woke up to the most beautiful views from our room - something we would never tire of. The walk to the ferry is only 20 minutes and again very picturesque.
If we are lucky enough to visit The Bay of Islands again we will certainly stay with Stewart and Sandy.
Thank you both for making our holiday perfect. And a big hug for Ellie

The only downside to our stay at Cherry Bay Lodge was that we didn't stay longer. Sandy and Stewart were great hosts and were a font of knowledge regarding the local area. They definitely helped us to get the most of our stay in the Bay of Islands area, booking excursions and even saving us money.
The quality of our rooms matched the quality of the views, fantastic.
We regret that we didn't have time to take up the offer of going kayaking.
We would recommend anybody going to the Bay of Islands region to book Cherry Bay Lodge, you will not regret it.

This is beautiful B and B accommodation in a beautiful setting
Thee room had a fabulous bathroom with a great shower and a comfy, large bed. The view is sensational, and the deck area out front lets you enjoy it to the fullest
The breakfast was the best we had on our travels
To top it all, the owners could not be more helpful and friendly
I cannot fault Cherry Bay Lodge in any way; I would give it more than 5/5 if I could!

If there were a better rating than excellent, you would achieve it. Your garden is beautiful with Kauri tree, butterflies and the amazing view to the bay. On top you also served a delicious breakfast, helped us with the booking of our sailing trip (which was also perfect). Thank you Sandy and Stewart for the best accommodation we experienced in NZ.

We have been guests for 2 nights at the Cherry Bay Lodge. Sandy an Steward are absolutely perfects hosts. They supported us with informations and even booked tables at the restaurants for us.
The room was great, very clean and a lot of space. The bathroom was big and clean and the shower is great.
Sandys breakfast is lovely and you can choose out of a variation of things.
Thank you for making our stay absolutely wonderful.
We recomend everyone who stays at the bay of island to choose Sandy and Stewards "Cherry bay Lodge"

We spent 2 nights here last year and it rained continuously . This year, tempting fate, we returned and brought with us 4 friends from the USA ( on their first visit to new Zealand).
Fortunately the weather was kinder and we could enjoy the wonderful views over the sound to Russell from the high vantage point at Cherry Bay lodge. The lodge has 2 rooms with views over the garden and the sea. The bedrooms are large and very well appointed as are the bathrooms. What makes the stay most enjoyable is the welcome extended by Stewart and Sandy, the hosts. They provide a wealth of information on the area and Sandy's culinary skills in the preparation of the breakfasts are most appreciated. A great place to stay and you really feel you have stayed with friends rather than as guests.

Stewart and Sandy have a magnificent spot for their lodge. Views from our “Kauri” bedroom were stunning. The bedroom suite is beautifully appointed with a marvellous bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and served on the veranda overlooking the fabulous view. Sandy’s plum jam was a real treat. There are beautiful walks right from their property, along the water. Sandy has a wonderful hobby of cultivating monarch butterflies. This was very special. Additionally, she is an artist with artwork displayed around the Lodge . Stuart provided very good advice about restaurants in the area. We enjoyed our time with Sandy and Stewart very much. Highly recommended.
