Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little place for our one night stop pre cycle coast to coast trip. Very clean neat and tidy motel with everything we needed. Very friendly service and much appreciated help. Highly recommend. Best fish and chips on the wharf.

We stayed here for two nights.

The owner was very friendly and made us feel very much at home.

The location was perfect - though not close to restaurants and bars.

The two bedroom unit was freshly painted and was very clean. There was a very pleasant verandah to sit out on and watch the sun go down with a nice cool beer.

Overall a very pleasant to stay during our vist to the area.

We stayed here for a couple of nights when we came and chartered a sailboat for a 3 day 2 night trip around bay of islands. We stayed in one of the studio rooms the first night and Leah let us have the big family room upstairs when we came back from our sailing trip for a similar price because that's the only room she got left. The rooms are super cute and well equipped. Leah has a beautiful herb and vegetable garden in the back and laundry facility (with a dryer!) for the guests. She even dropped us off and picked us up at the pier for our sailing. We couldn't have had a better experience!

Our holiday plans went awry when my wife landed in hospital for three days. Leah from the Opua Motel was fantastic in rescheduling our prepaid accommodation so that we didn't miss out on the beautiful Bay of Islands. She even upgraded us to a very comfortable upper floor unit. Leah was helpful with itinerary suggestions and when we had to cut short the length of our stay (to fit the now shortened holiday) she provided us with a refund. If there's a better host in NZ we'd like to know! Thanks for everything Leah!

In town on business. Stayed, 3 adults in two bedroom family suite. Very well appointed, modern, fresh and clean.
Owner lovely, helpful, and extremely hospitable.
Cold beer on the verandah with views over the spectacular bay and yachts.
Would loved to have stayed longer.
Hope to be back!

Very happy with my stay here. A good strong shower and a great location, very close to the car ferry to Okiato. Much quieter than Paihia. Lovely to have real fresh milk instead of long life. Very nice couple. Thanks.

The motel is a short walk up Franklin Street from the marina. Rooms are large and comfortable. The kitchenette is convenient.

The grounds are attractive with picnic benches. Shopping and food options are available at the marina.

Firstly, the owner is very helpful and secondly, what a great position. We used this as our night before the two day Twin Coast cycle ride where the start is just down the road. Also close to the Cruising Club for dinner and the ferry to Russell. Clean and comfortable, what else do you need.
