Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room was private and has a lovely view of the tropical landscape. The home has a large shared kitchen and living space which was nice to lounge in. Breakfast supplies were provided and we made our own with nice fresh ingredients. All was clean, friendly and well located within walking distance to a couple of nice restaurants. We enjoyed a lovely hike to waterfalls right from the door and loved that we could walk to the bar and get pizza. We enjoyed a day trip to Russell and would highly recommend.

A professionally run lodge with a friendly atmosphere. Clean, modern property located five minutes from central Kerikeri and two minutes from the historic Stone Store. More than happy to maintain the perfect score rating for Richard and his team.

Can’t begin to say how much we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful accommodation. We had a large airy room with balcony and the use of gardens and sitting areas. Great breakfast included. Wish we had booked to stay longer!

Thank you for a lovely night at Stone Store Lodge. It was so peaceful. Gemma was very hospitable and made a lovely breakfast. It felt like you were a bird up in the trees. Even the rain added to the ambience.

Our stay at the Stone Store Lodge was absolutely amazing! I got ready for my wedding day at the Lodge with my family and friends. I woke up in the morning to a breathtaking view of the forest out my window and it really calmed my nerves for the day ahead. It was the perfect backdrop for our photographer to take photos of our hair and make-up being done and putting my wedding dress on. The accommodation was clean, roomy and inviting in a spectacular natural landscape. The beds were also very comfortable. I would return to stay here anytime, I wish I had booked to stay longer!

My wife and I just loved this little place. It is within walking distance of the Famous Stone Store. There are multiple walking trails and a wonderful restaurant named the Plough and Feather just minutes away. The walking trails are great but travelers must be made aware they can be difficult due to the steep terrain in the area. We used this location for my private flying exploits. Yes there's a small airfield 10 minutes from the lodge.

Richard, our host, made us feel welcome from the time we arrived. The room was large and well-appointed, with a small private deck looking into the canopy of the trees. The Magnolia right there was in full flower and the Tuis made the most of this hopping, unafraid, through its branches. The shared, open lounge, dining and kitchen was large and very well appointed. It got all day sun and privacy from the surrounding native trees and bush. Each evening, Richard would light the fire for us. He was engaged and informative about the things to do in the Far North, but not intrusive. His accommodation was separate, so we had the place to ourselves - it was offseason. Breakfast was prepared for us by Richard. Fresh squeezed orange juice and hand made fruit salad and yoghurt, followed by a cooked breakfast. Tasty. The Far North is known for its summer, but I would recommend considering staying in the off-season too. We had the lodge to ourselves and it felt like home to snuggle in at the end of the day with a wine and a fire. This is our spot for the Far North.

A top location very close to the Stone Store and the Pear Tree Restaurant. The location was even better as our room overlooked the bush and valley. The only sound was the wild life... native birds and a visit to our deck by a possum. Breakfast was wonderful... everything perfect.

Richard is a fantastic host, available when needed but also distant when space is required. The accommodation is spacious and well appointed. The king-size bed is semi-firm but very comfortable. Linens are of a high quality as are the eco-friendly bath products. The heated bathroom floor is a welcome luxury during winter. Breakfasts are excellent, both filling and nutritious. The guest lounge area is large and the fireplace keeps the space toasty warm. Highly recommended the Stone Store Lodge for couples looking for a quiet getaway in the Bay of Islands.
