We stayed with Mutsuo for 2 nights as a last minute decision and absolutely loved it! From the luxury styled rooms, spa bath, spa pool, amenities & little goodies left for us we can not fault this place. Everything is done to perfection with an amazing gourmet breakfast both continental and full cooked included it’s a dream. Mutsuo makes you feel at home and this little sanctuary is well worth the visit!

We will be back!

We knew that it was meant to rain for two days, so we booked accommodation that offered a lounge with a fire where we could sit and read. Puketotara was more than we could have hoped for. The room was gorgeous, the bed so comfortable, the fire cosy and the breakfast delicious. I would recommend it without hesitation. Go on, treat yourself!

Behind the dreadful council built walls lies the most Beautiful destination. Such a shame that the council works has spoilt the look of such a beautiful destination. Please do not be put off by the ugly exterior. Once inside the place is spotless, paradise, clean spacious rooms. We were greeted by two Amazing Hosts, Loraine and Ed and a multitude of amazing grazing farm animals. The children fed the animals more than we fed ourselves. Freshly laid eggs by your door each day, still warm! The pool was a lovely temperature. I cannot rate this Motel high enough. We wanted for nothing. It was perfect in every way. We stayed 5 nights I think and would have been happy staying a lot longer. No traffic noise just peace and tranquillity. Thank you for letting us share your Beautiful Farm Stay.

The beautiful timber farm lodge with relaxing decks and verandahs instantly felt like home away from home, that nice feeling as if visiting friends in the country. So many places on this pretty farm to relax. A picnic watching the ducks on the pond. Play a few holes of golf. Wander through the orchards, pick some fresh fruit, admire the vineyards. See and hear native birds, Scottish cows, alpacas, ponies. Go for a long stroll then sit by the open fire after a soak in the spa tub while admiring the stunning views. Cuddle a friendly cat or play with Hana the Lab. Beg Mutsuo to stoke up his outdoor chimnea-style pizza oven then cook your own gourmet creations as you quaff some of the local vintage. A world away, three days feels like a week. I did not want to leave. Sad to leave but totally relaxed and fresh after the amazing hospitality.

From the very 1st moment we walked into Puketotara lodge , the hospitality shown by John and Mutsuo was fantastic. The lovely log fire, set the tone for a very relaxing 4 day stay.
Set in a beautiful country backdrop , this was the ideal place for some well deserved rest and relaxation. From dining in the beautiful lodge itself to enjoying a bbq on the outdoor decked area, and taking in the beautiful park like scenery , the food was well matched.( you must try John's medium rare scotch steak).
All this plus the added bonus of the pitch and putt golf course which runs down to the beautiful creek at the lower end of the vineyards, which in itself is truely beautiful.I'm looking forward to bring my daughters back to enjoy this place and all it has to offer.Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay.I whole heartly recommend Puketotara lodge as a great place to stay when you visit the beautiful North.

The scenery from the lodge (and its decks) is absolutely beautiful. So peaceful.
The hosts, John + Mutsuo, are friendly and accommodating. They took us on a tour around the property and we could see they prided themselves on what they had achieved in such a short period of time. Even the animals (dog, horses + alpacas) got in on the act by following us.
Each visit we have asked Mutsuo to prepare dinner for at least one night of our stay- ranging from exquisite multi-course japanese to casual DIY pizzas cooked in their own wood-fired oven. The rooms are impeccable and also a self contained cottage for families or couples wanting some privacy. We recommend Puketotara to anyone thinking of staying around Kerikeri

My fiancee and I were very fortunate to be the only guests at the lodge for the two nights we stayed. We were made to feel right at home by both Mutsuo and John. Mutsuo's culinary skills are first class and their hospitality couldn't have made us feel more welcome.
John insisted we check out the whole property in a golf cart and we were glad we did. The river, swimming hole, 6 hole golf course, massive deck, spa pool, impeccable views and surroundings make this place one to highly recommend.

Thanks guys. We will return.

We stayed at the Puketotara Lodge for 2 nights in December and loved it. What John and Mutsuo have done to this 30 acre piece of land is amazing.

There's a huge deck that leads out from the house that has different seating areas, a BBQ, and wood fired oven, and a hot tub. This leads out to multiple orchards and allotments that stock the kitchen with all of the necessary fruit, vegetables and eggs that Mutsuo needs to whip up amazing food. Then there's a 6 hole golf course that while is no St Andrews is still great fun and a vineyard. Add the fact that it's 2 minutes away from Keri Keri, which is the best town in the north and you're on to a winner.

Thanks to Mutsuo for the amazing breakfasts and we'll hopefully get to try dinner next time. And thanks to John for entertaining us by the river with a few drinks.

Puketotara Lodge is absolutely breathtaking. The lodge itself is set on 30 acres of land ranging from orchards, a farm, a river, golf course & private air strip. It is thoroughly relaxing & has a warm friendly atmosphere. You can socialise on the deck or you can retreat to your private room. The rooms are very clean & very relaxing, the complex is also very secure. Mutsuo & John are great. We took our boat up for the weekend & John kindly put it away in the garage. Mutsuo is fantastic, resident 5* chef & gardener, he cooked us wonderful breakfasts each day & filleted our fish that we caught on the weekend for no extra cost. Overall, we had a brillant stay, John & Mutsuo really go that extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant & relaxing experience. We are going to re book for next year.

Had been looking for a nice romantic getaway for my partner and I. From the first photos I booked straight away, and when I we arrived it was as good as if not better then the photos. Mutsuo was a very good host along with John the owner. A warm welcoming experience with a private 6 hole golf course, bush walk, farm animals and only 10mins from town. Thoroughly enjoyed it and keen to go again!
