Detailed Reviews
My partner and I stayed here for 1 night and I thought it was an amazing place. The setting was beautiful - with our room overlooking the forest. The room was very clean, the bed was massive and very comfortable! We woke in the morning to so many different birds singing and it was very amazing. There was a continental breakfast included in the room rate and I thought the price of the room and breakfast was really good value for money.
It was very quiet which was nice and whilst I read other reviews that said the motel is tired and needs work, I found everything very up to standard and I have no complaints there.
I really wanted to give my stay 5/5, however there was one down side that disappointed me a bit... staff. When I went to check out, the lady at reception didn’t ask about how our stay was - in fact she was pretty unfriendly. I asked if she could round the price of the room up (because I was so impressed) and she acted like it was frustrating that I wanted to pay more because her system couldn’t accommodate my request. I felt disappointed that an otherwise perfect night away was negatively tainted by one staff member.

If traveling for work I always stay at Woodlands, the rooms are private and set amongst nature and very affordable.
Close enough to walk into town if need be and the staff are friendly and always approachable.
If traveling in the Summer months they have a lovely pool and spa to utilize.

The staff are friendly, the room is clean and spacious, the kitchen facilities are good, the bed I wanted to take home, what a great nights sleep. The setting is peaceful. The bush at the back has a great calming effect. So why only 90%?
I've stayed here before and was happy to book again and would stay again BUT they need to look at the bedroom furniture it's getting a little knocked about, Ok it's done few miles but maybe it time to look at it. It didn't really distract from my stay. BUT the shower badly needs some attention. Low water pressure, tepid fluctuating temperature from cold to hot then back to cold again. Fix that and I'd give you 100%.

We didn't have any set accommodation and booked at the last minute for accommodation that evening. The staff at Woodlands were so accommodating and very nice. We received a personal txt from Woodlands after booking on-line late in the afternoon with a full description of how to access the room after hours. They also went the extra mile to turn on the heater for us as it was cold and wet in northland. The facilities were perfect and we were very grateful they took the time considering it was a last minute booking. Thank you!

Hard to find sign slightly overgrown.Signed in at the desk after finding the office car park spacers full (one vehicle taking up 3 spaces) Executive Studio, Which had a deck looking out to the bush.Very very clean and tidy But no maintenance or so it appears has been done for some ,like cupboard doors falling off, holes in walls filled but not sanded and repainted ,deck furniture not cleaned, TV only had 8 channels of Sky, 3 of those were of religious nature no local TV channels,so no news. When you drive in the first thing you notice the overgrown gardens and the rough driveway you get to the bottom and see the Administration/Conference building looking a bit sad, needing a make over as are all the decks around the building. When you drive in at night only one of the driveway lights is working. Also be warned $8.00 to wash your clothes and $8.00 to dry them, but they do have a few drying racks but not many and in poor condition .In its day it would have been a really great place, but still better than some we have stayed in.The main thing was it was spotlessly clean which is a tribute to the staff.

Responded 18 Jan 2020
thank you for your review. as housekeeping manager, i will pass on this wonderful feedback. my team does work hard to ensure our rooms are always clean, fresh and tidy. we here at woodlands are well aware of the love and care this place is requiring, and we have a list to work through. we hope that over the course of this year that we are able to tick a few more things of that list.

We stayed in a motel in Whangarei the night before and the difference was quite noticeable. This place is a little tired and needs some serious TLC.I see they have it up for sale but a lot of capital needs to be poured in to make it truly a jewel within the town of Kerikeri. It's branding on a marketing perspective seems confused due to fixture and fittings and general appearance. It reminded me of a campsite when I was younger.
I hope the new owner will show it true potential when I next visit.

This is our second time around with our childrens, and usually our kids don't really like to sleep in other people's house BUT here in Woodland they love the atmosphere, and they want to move here.

We stayed here for one night on our 3-week road trip around NZ, having chosen it on the basis of the good TA rating. Our semi-detached cabin in the woods had definitely seen better days and was showing its age. It felt tired and slightly damp, and suffered from poor soundproofing. The room came with a king bed plus single, and all the expected facilities - fridge, microwave, tea/coffee, TV (9 channels including 2 Sky Sports) but the wifi signal was so poor as to be unusable. The en suite shower room had no worktop space for laying out toiletries or cosmetics. Check in was friendly and helpful with advice on eating places in town. Orders for continental breakfast were taken at check in for delivery either to the bedroom or the "restaurant" - which turned out to be a table in the reception area. In summary, there must be more comfortable overnight stops in Kerikeri.

It was a nice stay in a room with ensuite bathroom, with a patio facing the forest. Some rooms had patios facing patking lot, would not be nice at all, I would request in advance the one with the forest view. The room looked modern, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean. However no cooking facilities or sink in the room, just a microwave. The worst thing was wifi connection, almost non-existant, would connect and then disconnect in a few minutes, a complete disaster. Do not stay there if internet connection is important. If not, a pleasant motel not far from Kerikeri city center.
