Avalon is a small boutique resort with self-contained serviced cottages and studio units, facing the golf course. Described as a little paradise and piece of heaven by many travellers, our 7 acre property features natural springs, waterfalls, lakes and river where you can kayaking. Our secluded valley has the feel of a nature retreat, but is close to shops, restaurants and various attractions in Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands. Set at the top of the valley, the stylish self contained cottages offer elevated views over the beautiful property. The deck, as well the large windows, allow one to be fully immersed in nature both inside and outside. With a king bed in the bedroom and 2 sofa-beds in the lounge, the unit can sleep up to 4 guests. The cosy self-contained studio rooms are located near the lush gardens around the Oasis pool complex. They sleep 2 or 3 guests and can be adjoined for families. Our studios all have an en-suite bathroom, a kitchenette and a private covered deck area.

I don't even know where to start with this amazing place as there is so much to rave about.
First of all I was a bit hesitant going down a long driveway into the wilderness with my young son, but as we drove down we saw beautiful rivers and wildlife.
When we arrived at reception the manager was so kind, I had made a mistake with my booking and he did everything to rectify my mistake.
He took us up to a villa which looked nice from the outside but wow when we walked in I was absolutely amazed. This place was absolutely beautiful, it has a fully equiped kitchen with beautiful cutlery and crockery, it also had two beautiful and comfortable single beds and a stunning loungeroom with a beautiful bathroom and then a big room with a large bed. Topped off with a beautiful balcony where you could hear and see birds everywhere. The place was immaculate. It made me wish I had booked in longer just for the sake of it.
We went down to the pool, which was stunning with rocks etc in it and a amazing spa but it didnt end there. There was also a toilet, sheltered seating area, pizza oven and bbq. Like seriously this place was better than 5 star places I had stayed before.
Avalon resort should be very proud of what they have created because it is just a magical sanctuary.
I will be telling everyone about this tranquil resort if you are looking for somewhere affordable, beautiful and close to town this place is it.
Thankyou Avalon resort for a one night stay we absolutely loved. We will be back for sure.

The room was spacious with ample kitchen and bathroom supplies, the private deck is a great addition. The proprietors went out of their way to make sure our stay was as we expected. Smart TV’s are a bonus but please guests remember to sign out of your accounts when you leave

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottages. The location is close to the township, but you feel as though you are in the islands with the amazing plants and land. The staff are amazing and very accommodating. The cottage is nice and big, with 1 room and 2 day beds in the lounge. The kitchen is a nice size and has most of the necessities. We have been enjoying the patio eating most of our meals outdoors. It is such a nice and relaxing location a perfect space for a family or couple.

Nowhere on their site do they mention the presence of mosquitoes. I booked online and on arrival was shown the room I had booked along with the location of two cans of spray for mosquitoes. The one and only small window had an insect screen, no screen for the only external opening glass door. My Partner has Ross River virus as it is and we would never stay anywhere with an acknowledged mosquito presence. The room itself was small, dark and external vegetation was very close, no doubt encouraging the habitat for mosquitoes. Although requested, no refund was forthcoming. We were very disappointed and certainly feel that the omission of making mention of mosquitoes is an error. An error if omission. We will not be back.

I booked with them over the phone and asked for email confirmation but that was never received so I had to ring to check. On arrival, the greeting was very lack lustre from a rather sloppy host. The room was very tired with mouldy curtains, lights that didn't work, chairs that were broken, a table that was broken and other irritations.
This Lodge has the most amazing setting but is so neglected it is a real pity. It has a 4 star rating but there is no way it is up to this standard.

Have to be really honest here. Average at best, pics look great yet the place is really in need of a good clean / is very dated. Our room stunk of cigarette smoke on arrival, there were nail clippings left in the bedside cabinets & the room was really stuffy / no way to have airflow without bugs, and to top it off there was cockroaches in the bathroom. I think we got the most budget room on the property but for $130 per night we would not bother again, Kerikeri is beautiful but this place is in need of TLC. Would not go here again or reccomened.

Relaxing and beautiful space. The sound of the flowing water downhill through the natural pool made the whole place seem calming. Room was beautiful and the spa was great. Perfect for a couples weekend away.

Had a great stay st Avalon Resort with family. The owner Vilem was a great host, very friendly and accommodating. Facilities were excellent and our studio had everything we needed and especially a huge comfy bed. Will stay again there when next there for a holiday :)

The small apartment for 2 people was adequate and the setting in a peaceful valley was beautiful. The Resort is close to central Kerikeri however the approach is down a long, narrow, winding road which has very limited passing places. In the dark we found it quite unnerving. We are glad to have tried it but wouldn’t return.
